Matt Cassel on 810 WHB tomorrow

Matt Cassel will be on BTL tomorrow on 810 WHB around 3:30. According to KK, he will open up the phone lines and Cassel will answer questions from some of the listners. Sounds cool, can't wait!

EDIT: KK said at the beginning of the show that he may not be on! He's obviously not on so I guess they were not able to get him.

CaliforniaChief 06-02-2009 11:32 PM

Will he be incarcerated at Arrowhead during the phoner?

Free Matt!!!

Coach 06-03-2009 04:22 AM

Now, when you say "tomorrow", do you mean Today (Wednesday) or tomorrow (Thursday)?

Honestly, what's the difference.

He's not going to say anything groundbreaking.

It's really not that funny. He had a nice game there obviously and won nine more games as a QB than the Chiefs did. Yet, Claythan will pimp LJ who I still have my fingers crossed will be cut just in the nick of time to avoid that salary.

It's a snapshot of the mindset of the majority of this fanbase.

He had great stats, but lost - and that's OK.

The fanbase needs just as much a change in attitude as the team does.

You obviously didn't see that game because He made a play that just tied the game.

KCUnited 06-03-2009 02:15 PM

This will be typical Cassel. He'll throw out the first couple words of a sentence and Welker and Moss will finish it for him.

Your attitude needs just as much changing. Good players sometimes play for losing teams. If the Dolphins listened to your advice, 90% of their roster would have been cut before last season and good teams would never recruit players from losing teams to play for them. There are some good players on the Chiefs who would do much better with a better supporting cast. And of course, there are plenty who have no business being on any football team.

This is a classic example of that. Why is it Cassel's fault that he tied the game, the game went into overtime, and then a reeruned rule allowed the Jets to win the game without the Pats' offense ever touching the field?

The man just stepped it up and got the game tied up (assuming the successful PAT) on one of the best pass/catch combinations of the entire season, and you're ignoring that because they lost when the defense couldn't hold in overtime.

That change in attitude should start with yourself.

I'm not ignoring it, you dumbass.

But they didn't win the game, and that is ALL that matters.

People here don't get that. They'd rather make excuses as to why it's not his fault.

Right or wrong, the QB gets the glory when his team wins, and takes the heat when they lose.

Just a price to pay for playing the most important position on the field.

It's a funny picture for sure, however inaccurate. That was taken after Cassel threw a TD that brought them within a PAT to tie it up.....nothing wrong with that. Too bad NE's _efense sucked Martha Stewarts taint last year...

Nobody's saying losing is OK, I don't get where this generalization comes from.

You, and others are missing the point.

Yes, he played a phenomenal game. I realize that, and even respect it.

But the team lost. Period.

The generalization comes from years of BS excuse making for the average/below average QB's we've had following Lenny.

People act like Trent Green was robbed of a few SB rings because the defense was so shitty. He was a slightly above average QB who put up numbers, but when things were on the line, often threw the big INT or came up short. And this is coming from one of the biggest TG fans on the planet - I've played against him in HS, and spoken to him on several occasions, and you won't meet a greater guy.

A similar argument is made for Thigpen. You know how it goes, "all he needs is A, B, C, D, E, F and G for him to succeed." "It's not his fault."

The great one's don't need excuses made for them, they go out and put a team on their shoulders and make it happen.

Like I said before, the QB is the most important position on the field, and the responsibility they carry is like no other. They get all the glory when the team wins, and take the heat when the team loses. Just the way it is.

Winning > individual statistics.
