yoo hoo....Mr. Pioli....

You're gonna eat a lot of crow...

At the Seahawks’ OTAs and minicamps this offseason, the ’09 draft’s fourth overall selection has picked right up where he left off in Indy, displaying unexpectedly strong pass-rush skills that bode well for a defense that experienced a significant decline last season.

“At the last minicamp, it was the first time he stepped up as a down lineman in passing situations a la Julian Peterson, and he just blew everyone away,” a veteran source on the scene told PFW.

“He’s the only rookie who has been told flat-out that he was going to start from the get-go, and he never stops working. He’s always going 100 miles per hour. At Wake Forest, the focus was more on him dropping into coverage, and he just didn’t have to use his pass-rush skills as much. But they’re very evident.

“The coaches are really excited because, with Curry and Leroy Hill, who had 7˝ sacks as a rookie, they have two outside linebackers who can both blitz and drop into coverage, which should make the defense a lot more versatile.”

We hear Curry is also drawing rave reviews off the field.

“They’ve been very impressed with him in the meeting rooms,” the source said. “The coaches are really stressing the need for the players to see the entire picture, to get a better understanding of what the other guys will be doing, and he’s doing that well. He’s also extremely articulate, a great kid who is fun to talk to. You ask him a question, and he always comes back with intelligent, thoughtful answers that just seem to flow very naturally.

“He’s the total package. He’s big and fast, and he’s got really quick hips. You keep looking for the slightest flaw, but there just haven’t been any. The only thing might be that he doesn’t know the entire defense — yet.”

From profootballweekly....I like the shows amazing pass rush skills part...:shake:

L.A. Chieffan 06-29-2009 01:45 PM

Curry may be Jesus, but Jackson is Pontius Pilate baby!

DaKCMan AP 06-29-2009 01:46 PM

You like Aaron Curry, eh? What's that all a-boot?

JD10367 06-29-2009 01:47 PM

Wow. A fourth-overall draft pick is impressing in organized team activities in June. Woo hoo!!!! Start carving Seattle's name on the Lombardi! :jerkit:

CupidStunt 06-29-2009 01:48 PM

When did Pioli say Curry can't rush the passer?

That was a few turds on an internet forum.

MVChiefFan 06-29-2009 01:50 PM

Jesse Haynes drew rave reviews...AT PRACTICE. Let's wait until they actually put on pads.

kcxiv 06-29-2009 02:03 PM

meh, we needed an anchor, we got one. We got what they felt was needed. Way to damned early to be saying who is and who isnt a bust.

Mr. Krab 06-29-2009 02:06 PM

I think you are getting Pioli confused with the Sanchez reerun group around here.

Didn't Dick Vermeil say something like Derrick Johnson was the greatest athlete he'd ever coached?

doomy3 06-29-2009 02:21 PM

Not possible. I read on Chiefs Planet that because he didn't do it in college, he couldn't do it in the NFL. Anyone who said otherwise was the biggest idiot ever in the history of the interwebs.

No, what you read is that since he didn't do it in college there wasn't any way to know with any certainty that he could do it in the NFL.

Saying that he could definitely do it was making a claim that there wasn't any evidence to support.

That said.....

WooHoo!!!!!

He's an OTA All Pro!!!!

Idahojim 06-29-2009 02:54 PM

I'm in New Orleans on business a lot, so I've struck up friendships with quite a few LSU fans. One of them is a former offensive lineman in the NFL and he says that Jackson is "a monster waiting to happen."

Hope he's right. He usually is.

Even better.

KCCHIEFS27 06-29-2009 03:29 PM

Wait, people can't have an opinion about a player since the draft is over? Before the draft we all had our doubts on who would be a bust and who would perform well. Why would anyone's view change two and a half months after the draft?

DaWolf 06-29-2009 03:38 PM

Kendrell Bell used to look amazing to Gunther too. Then the games started...

Why would I be pissed about some player on the Seahawks getting double-digit sacks? :spock:

CanadaKC 06-29-2009 05:57 PM

cause all we talked about regarding curry before the draft is that he can't rush the passer...that was his apparant flaw...

chiefzilla1501 06-29-2009 05:58 PM

The Seahawks ran a 4-3 last year. Are they planning on running a 3-4?

If not, who the **** cares if Curry can blitz. People still can't get it into their heads that blitzing the QB as an OLB in a 4-3 is a lot different than rushing the passer in a 3-4.

This article doesn't change a thing.

No I think everyone has an understanding that if that kind of pick doesn't look good running around in shorts doing OTA's that it would be a HUGE problem.

This isn't as much as a "gotcha" thread as you would like it to be. This article gets written about everyone...so and so looks real strong out there doing this and that.

Seymour, Warren and Wilfork were 3 of the Patriots first 4 first round picks under Belichick. The team didn't draft a linebacker any higher than the 5th round until Mayo. Pioli has been working with Belichick for a long time. Belichick believes in building from the lines first. It's quite possible that Pioli could have thought "Curry is going to be a 10 sacks-per-year guy in any system" and still have taken the lineman.

It seems like we've been having these same ****ing arguments for months now.

The people who think we should have drafted Curry seem to have reading comprehension problems.

Most of us that argued against drafting Curry said that we have no proof that Curry can rush the passer, but everyone of of the dumbasses that wanted to draft Curry keep saying that we said he can't rush.

He may well be able to rush the passer, but until he proves it on the field in games, there is no way in hell you can definitively say he can.

Bitter? Why would that be the case? We're glad we didn't pick a guy who isn't the best fit for a 3-4 system. You appear to be the bitter one by posting this article to all the mean Chiefs fans who didn't want to draft Curry.

No, because even if/when he proves that, it apparently won't matter because he'll be proving it out of a 3-4.

However, I'm sure we won't be hearing from any of the people who think we should have drafted Sanchez if he does well.

Aside from not knowing how to use the quote function do you really think picking the injured guy means you have a point?

Players looking great in shorts and injuries. You Curry folks are running on E.

i used the qoute function correctly, if you havent noticed that has been happening lately to others also. and he wasnt getting good press BEFORE he was injured. way too many drops and not too good at route running IIRC. and by the way i was NEVER in the curry camp.

I wanted to draft Sanchez as badly as anyone.

We didn't.

It's time to move on and focus on our team.

Wait wait, a super athletic guy looks good rushing the passer in no contact drills? MY GOD! Too bad for us Pioli is focusing on the Dline so our defense can get good instead of drafting a LB to get blocked every play because our Dline sucks.

Lets not forget he is on the Seahawks... probably the worst team in the worst division in the NFL... Of course he is going to look good, especially on that defense!
