You know what really grinds my gears?

I've been noticing statements like, "Cassel will get killed against the Ravens."

Why the Ravens, guys? Our offensive line is shitty, right? Does it make any difference if he gets hit 10 times against the Ravens or 10 times against the Giants? How about the Eagles?

It makes no ****ing difference if it's the Ravens. He's GOING to get hit. EVERY damn game. If he's a tough QB, he'll take a beating and get up at the end of the play. Something Brodie Croyle does not do.

Sorry, that's a nitpicky thing that's been bugging me. Carry on.

We play the Ravens in week 1, he won't be around to get killed in any of the other games.

DTchiefs58 09-07-2009 10:16 PM

Maybe because the line can get gel a little and the offense can get in some kind of rythem after several weeks.

DeezNutz 09-07-2009 10:17 PM

Because one can only get killed once.

And the Ravens are batting leadoff.

Easy he's already injured, and if he starts now while he can't move around the pocket sufficiently then the KC would just burn 63 million dollars because he can't get out of trouble with his legs.

Yeah, I hear you on that. It's such a foregone conclusion that we're going to get destroyed that the only concern is over how many players get hurt. Can't help but dream of scenarios where we somehow win this game, and all of us get to go to the home opener against the Raiders. What would the outlook on this season be on that day? This isn't healthy to think about.

Wow, look that, we are 3-0 in YOUR house. That has to be pretty embarrasing, getting dominated by the Chiefs.

Last time the Chiefs played at Balitmore, our HORRIBLE defense held your team to 250 yards of total offense. Your amazing Defense got bent over in front of the entire nation.

Have a little fun with it. My god, next to Mecca, I may be the biggest cynic on this board. It still doesn't hurt to prod the other team's fans a little, especially when they traveled onto our board to talk trash.

I am just stating facts on the history of this series.

Any dumb**** (I'm am looking your direction FlaccotoClayton) knows that the Chiefs are a completely different team that is talent depleted, has a horrible O-Line, banged up QB, and a unknown quantity on defense.

We have NEVER lost at Baltimore against the Ravens. Ever.

Is this how you get your jollies off? Talking shit to a team that won 2 games last year and is expected to lose by a good 20-25 points? Nobody cares enough to talk shit and very few are going to bite. There's not even a rivalry to fall back on.

If the Ravens win, whip-dee-doo....very, very few Chief fans were expecting a win....or for the game to even be close. Also, you come around, talk smack for a few days, realize nobody gives two shits and leave for the next 2-3 years until we play Baltimore again. If the Chiefs DO pull off the upset, you're too embarassed to show your pathetic face here OR you show up quickly to call it a fluke.

Still, you better hope your team wins because if they don't it won't necessarily be us talking shit about your team. You'll be dealing with other AFC contenders fans (y'know, teams your own size) that will be sure to remind you every week the rest of the season that you lost to one of the shittiest teams in football.

The truth is that most fans really don't see much of a shot for KC to beat Baltimore. Hell, the Ravens D looked very ready to make a point of showing Sanchez life in the NFL isn't easy in that earlier Jets preseason game. Just a decent showing without any injuries would be a start for us. I would just hate to see anything happen to make that Raiders game tougher to win. We have a chance at that one for sure.

No, it doesn't actually. Do you think David Carr got sacked by the Bengals back when he was playing with the Texans and said, "At least I didn't get hit by the Ravens. Those guys will murder you."

Every hit in the NFL is the same. People who say Cassel is going to die week 1 are insulting Cassel by saying he can't take hits.

Let's say the Ravens hit him 10 times in a game. What if he were playing the Raiders week 1 and got hit only 6 times? Do those 4 extra hits delivered by the Ravens put him in the stretcher?

I know why people think, "the Ravens have a tough defense. We're weak. We're going to lose" and then equate it with our players getting injured. But it's still a ****ing myth. One thing does not lead to the other. If you're going to say he'll die against the Ravens, then you may as well predict Cassel will get injured every time he steps onto the field.

That's just beyond stupid. You're assuming that each defense is going to hit Cassel the same amount of times and in the same way, based on our offensive line. Who would you rather be sacked by Monty Beisel or Albert Haynesworth? :spock:

1. The better the defense, the harder it is on the QB
2. The more physical the defense, the more risk for the QB
3. The better the defensive line specifically the worse for us
4. The better the DE's the worse for our QB because of our OT's
5. The better the Defense blitzes the worse for the QB

Hypothetically if a QB could choose which defense he played against every game all year long, not a single QB would pick the Ravens. Why?

By the way, how many sacks does Haynesworth put up in a season? Does he hit the QB more than a few times per game? How many QBs does he injure in a season? Haynesworth goes up against crap Olines all the ****ing time. He'll get a couple hits on the QB in. He hits QBs far weaker than Cassel all the time and they get up just fine. You know what makes a REAL difference in getting a QB killed? Luck. Did they hit them in the knees? How did the QB fall down? Did they hit their head? ****, you're a Chiefs fan, you should know all kinds of different ways to kill a QB.

Dam straight. The Steelers defense is just brutal even when they don't win they make you pay for it. I think our QB's better take out extra life insurance for this season.

even these are tough

Do ya know what bugs the crap out of me? Know-nothing jerks who stereotype.

Take a look at the two hits which brought injuries to BC in his NFL career. In the first game last year against NE, he took a number of shots due to weak O-line blocking until he went down in the 3rd quarter due to a defender driving his right arm/shoulder into the turf. In his next game back, BC again stood tough until he received simultaneous high/low sandwich hits. On either play, nearly any other QB in the league taking such hits would be out with injuries as well.

In the last preseason game of this year alone, BC went down hard from behind-his-back tackle by a DE rushing past a worthless Lame-ion Sackintosh and took other hits as well. And yet he stood up after each one and continued taking them without needing a stretcher at any point.

Get this guy some decent blocking and he'll throw that ball with accuracy downfield, resulting in the defense being stretched to provide more effectiveness in the running and short passing games.

And STOP bugging the crap out of me!!

Actually, he may be somewhat correct. I have been pleasantly surprise by how Croyle has taken some hits this preseason and not been injured by them. The guy was injury prone in college and also once he got some playing time in the NFL. That has always been the biggest knock on him, IMO. Of course, I also wondered how much of that had to do with Herm's crappy luck regarding QB injuries due to his Club Med conditioning program. Hopefully, those days are over. If not, Brodie won't be around long.
