New Fall TV shows

So are there any new shows that we should be checking out? From what I've seen so far, I'm interested in Flash Forward, Modern Family, Bored to Death (HBO) and Community.

KCChiefsMan 09-17-2009 04:03 PM

Flash Forward caught my eye, I will add that to the TIVO list and see what it's all about. I'll check out Bored to Death as well. Haven't heard of any others that seemed interesting to me. What is Modern Family and Community about?

Buck 09-17-2009 04:05 PM

Flash Forward and Bored to Death I'll probably check out.

Modern Family is that one where theres a big family where every part of the family is different (Gay, Straight, Religious, Laid Back, etc). Community is that one w/ Chevy Chase.

keg in kc 09-17-2009 04:29 PM

Flash Forward, Bored to Death, V, White Collar.

I actually like the look of Day One more than Flash Forward, but it isn't hitting until next year.

BigMeatballDave 09-18-2009 01:13 PM

I thought Community was a tad boring. I'll try it again next week. Cougar Town looks funny. It starts next wednesday.

Flash Forward is gonna be a kick-ass show. Just finished watching it! Wow!

Flash Forward= AWESOME.

My wife is loving Flash Forward. I was paying half attention and it looks decent.

V was an old '80s miniseries that was pretty entertaining for it's time. Not sure how well it will translate forward in the remake.

DVR'd Flash Forward. Fell asleep half way through.

Will try again tomorrow, but it didn't catch me right away.

Flashforward looks good so far but they sure gave up a lot of info in the season preview segment.

They are replaying it tonight. Clearly, they are trying to use the LOST template, but I enjoyed it.

ROFL

The dialog in Community is exactly what I was hoping for. Of course, I'm a big McHale fan - saw him live at the end of May and he was awesome.

Community is one of those shows you can watch twice, because the second time you will actually hear something funny that you missed the first time you watched.

I read the book. It's not obvious to me how they will turn it into an ongoing series, but I'm interested to check it out and see what approach they've taken.

I will give it a shot then. I was pissed that it took the place of My Name is Earl. I know Earl catered to a lower common denominator, but there was subtle writing in almost every episode. I still am in awe that it was cancelled as it was receiving middle of the road ratings.

|Zach| 09-25-2009 11:35 AM

I am watching community just for Donal Glover. The guy is funny as shit. Is part of a good improv group and wrote for 30 rock.

Flash Forward has me interested. I liked the first episode.

jiveturkey 09-25-2009 02:41 PM

Flash Forward - Interested, the first episode had some goofiness but the story is intriguing.

Community - Awful - It gets one more shot.

Modern Family - Interested, I laughed a couple of times. The gays named their Chinese baby Lilly and the brother in-law asked why they would give her a name that would be hard for her to pronounce.

What was the goofiness in FF you speak of?

Not goofy as in funny, more overacting and goofy scenes right after the black out. Why would all of the buildings be on fire?

Just nit picking.

I wondered that too, but I chalked it up to aircraft colliding into them.

Yeah, I just watched a bit of it again, and it seems that every building has smoke coming from it. A bit excessive. I didn't notice that last night.

Lot's of reasons - Unattended cooking, airplanes and helicopters crashing, people falling into combustibles or knocking other items into combustibles.

I finally watched it and went "eh". Seems to be "Lost" without the island to me. Unsolvable mysteries finally solved only to find more mysteries behind them.

I wasn't happy they canned Earl either, but Community is definitely worth the watch.

Heheh.

Saw my first episode of Community tonight. I'll need to go watch more on Hulu.

I wondered if Joel McHale could act... the guy cracks me up on The Soup. And from this one episode, Chevy Chase is pretty hilarious in a small role.

Yeah, after seeing one episode and not being impressed, with everything I've heard I may need to go back and check it out again.

I thought McHale did a decent job in the Informant. It wasn't really too much of a different character than what he does with the Soup (sarcastic and dry wit that plays humor seriously and comes across pretty funny), so I'm not sure if you can say he can "act" yet... :)

Of other shows: I liked the second episode of Flash Forward more than the pilot (which is always good). Unless they just do something to jump off the deep end, I think they have me hooked for the season...

Ultra Peanut 10-01-2009 10:07 PM

This episode of Community was way better than the first two, which had their moments but dragged a bit. This was almost 30 Rock-esque at times in terms of laughs per second.

007 10-17-2009 03:04 AM

OK, Modern Family made me laugh on this episode.

I really like Modern Family. Flash Forward has been ok, but I'm still not totally hooked and that's probably a bad thing 3 weeks in. Good Wife is pretty well done. Big Bang Theory, House and Fringe are still at the top of the list for me, and nothing new has broken into that top 3 for me.

irishjayhawk 10-17-2009 10:13 PM

I like a lot of the cast of Community but I can't get into it.

Flash Forward has been promising, even if it's a poor man's LOST. That said, superb music direction thus far. And the opening of the last episode was awesome. Same with the song found later in that episode: http://myspace.com/ikomusic (First song)

ChiefsCountry 10-18-2009 12:07 AM

Cougar Town is pretty good. Chick flickish but its pretty funny and Courtney Cox looks very very good in it.

Who's hotter, Sofia Vergera or Julie Bowen? Vergera is probably the right answer, but I have a serious thing for Julie Bowen. First in Happy Gilmore and then really locking it down in Ed .... I'm a huge fan. The two of them definitely add to my enjoyment of Modern Family.
