Did they retire #18?

carlos3652 10-24-2009 05:54 PM

he will be put on the PS...

a player cannot participate on the practice squad for more than three seasons, or if he has accrued a year of NFL experience (six or more games on a club's 53-man active roster or official Injured Reserve list.) If the player was on the active list for fewer than 9 games during their "only Accrued Season(s)", he maintains his eligibility for the practice squad

Mr. Laz 10-24-2009 06:01 PM

how will we survive without the future Hall of famer Quinten Lawrence?!?!?!

6th I think.

Mr. Laz 10-24-2009 06:12 PM

I was specifically told repeatedly that Lawrence couldn't be cut because he would never make it through waivers.

Everyone wave goodbye to Quinten!!

I sure am glad they continue to work and tweak the offensive line through the Practice Squad and waivers.

Pioli Zombie 10-24-2009 08:13 PM

How will the team respond with such a major move just hours before kickoff? This kind of thing could tear the club apart. Tom Jackson is reporting the Chiefs hate their GM and coach.

Lawrence will take Long's spot on the Practice Squad.
He's got a great skillset. Just needs some polish and some coaching up.

I know he probably won't make much of a difference, but I'm glad to get a chance to see Long. There were a few articles earlier in the season that said Haley was high on the guy. I'm not holding my breath, but maybe he's able to help us at WR.

Judging by what little I've seen and can recall about the guy, he's a Wes Welker type, super quick, relatively fast, and small – probably take over/spell the Bobby Wade role in the offense....(eventually replace, since Wade is, ya know, soon to be an AARP member).

Wade's 28. Not exactly old.

Long hasn't proven that he can make a catch in the NFL.

Let's not compare him to Wes Welker just yet.

Mr. Laz 10-25-2009 09:22 AM

So has anyone heard which team claimed this uber valuable receiver off the waiver wire?

i imagine they are standing in line.

Micjones 10-25-2009 09:24 AM

I like the kid. I'm excited about him getting a chance to play.
Put him into some packages today and let's see what he has...

booger 10-25-2009 09:26 AM

If he can play with the big boys on game day this would allow Engram to get cut. No need for 3 slot WR's types.

Agreed. Engram's been the Invisible Man this season...
Doesn't hurt that Long's just 24.

the Talking Can 10-25-2009 09:32 AM

he should run routes with his huge johnson out, flapping in the wind each time he cuts....instant separation

Oh? So you want him to be a guy who doesn't amount to much HERE but goes to another team to be a Pro-bowler? ;)

LOL. Yea, and he screws a HOF LT's old lady while he is there and then we get a HOF LT again for a 3rd round pick.

LaChapelle 10-26-2009 09:12 PM

ESPN:
Receiver/returner Quentin Lawrence has cleared waivers. Kansas City can put him on the practice squad if it wishes. He was cut Saturday. Lawrence was a sixth-round pick in April.

Wow, the Chiefs draft in April was just amazing, wasn't it?

Finally, we get to see a true draft master in action!

You have to have somebody who can throw it to him first. Maybe he the best player in the first 4 yard range.
