Bought some furniture, how much do you tip the delivery guys?
Question in the title, how much is a proper tip for a bed and a couch? They will come tomorrow. Thanks
|
I hate having to tip people for doing their job. My guess would be $10 if it's a straight shot and $20 if there are stairs. Give the money to the head guy and it's his problem about how to share it.
|
Nothing. Ive never tipped a furniture delivery guy.
|
Yeah, I'd tip $10 if it's level and $20 if they need to climb stairs.
|
Unless they somehow went above and beyond their normal duties I wouldn't tip them anything.
|
no stairs, I'll just give them $10. Thanks guys

NOT A DIME ITS THEIR JOB.. IF THEY DON"T WANT TO MOVE FURNITURE GET A DIFFERENT JOB
|
I worked in the warehouse for a furniture company about 30 years ago, and most never tip the delivery worker.
I would suggest about 20 bucks. The guys making the delivery work a hell of a lot harder than someone bringing pizza to your door, and don't really make a lot more than the pizza delivery driver. |
These guys make more than minimum wage. Its not like a waiter or waitress..

Most are always looking for a different job. |

Yet, because of tips, wait people, depending on the place, make pretty decent jack. |

Why the hell would you tip a furniture mover?

If the store charges for delivery, I don't tip. If delivery is free then I tip $10-$20.

there was a $10 delivery fee, but I'll still tip

Especially this after I lost a couch by those a##clowns, they pick it up fix it on warranty and have record of picking it up but no idea where they placed it. Got $700 in credit after the wife was done with the them. (The couch was only worth $300) |

Where did you buy the couch from?
|
It wouldn't even have occurred to me that one should tip furniture delivery people.

And I'll hate doing it. If I was president, the first thing on my agenda would be to make tipping illegal. Tipping is the worst thing that ever happened to this country. |

With the cost of wages increasing, the cost of food increases. So we'd end up paying anyway. |

The furniture place I got our couch and love seat from wanted $75 to deliver it. I ended up just picking it up, but no way in hell would I be tipping on top of a charge like that.

I sure as hell wouldn't expect anyone to pay a tip after that. But then, most people don't tip anyway, so what the hell difference does it make? Where I worked, delivery was free. Of course, that was 25 years ago, and that place is long since out of business. |

You should all tell the salesperson that you will buy the item if they deliver it for free. Never had an issue getting the delivery charge dropped.
|
I call the company and tell them they did a great job. Money is a temporary thing. Praise for doing the job right = job security, and these days that is priceless.
