Wow,no alcohol for 21 days

It's not like I can't do it,it's just the holidays and then this weekend going on a 24th Anniversary getaway which will include time at a casino and a lot of football. :(

Went to the doc this morning and was given a medication for an infection I got from a damn in-grown hair and was told no drinking for 3 weeks. So the optimist in me is saying this may be a really good thing at the casino.

Pablo 11-25-2009 11:33 AM

Stay strong Joe.

If it makes you feel any better, I'll drink a couple(dozen) for you.

|Zach| 11-25-2009 11:35 AM

This personally wouldn't be a big deal at all. However, it being around the holidays? Yea, thatd be kind of a bitch.

ROFL

That reminds me,when I was in college I got a nasty case of strep a few days before Formal at Lake Of The Ozarks and doc put me on something strong(can't remember) and said absolutely no booze.

On the trip down I had 3 large 7 & 7's and was told later I had to be rescued from the hotel pool diving board because I had ventured out on it and the pool was empty :doh!:

FishingRod 11-25-2009 12:14 PM

Have you considered a different Dr. ? If mine can't take care of an ingrown hair without having to treat me for three friggin weeks I would guess he/she didn't finish top of the class.

right before Christmas one year, doc gave me a script for an antibiotic one time and told me, no drinking. when i got it filled the pharmacist gave it to me and said no drinking.

couple days later, my sons were home and one of them handed me a beer. i thought, "wth...one beer won't hurt". i took 2 drinks, my guts started rolling and i shot a power stream of puke that would drown a fish. made me sicker than hell and scared me to death.

if they say don't drink w/the script, either don't drink, or don't take the meds in the first place.
sec

yup. I agree.

I've seen a bit of a different situation it was a relative of mine but w/o the meds. Dude was experiencing a tremendous amount of stress, pressure from his job. One night he went to a stag, had a few, and next thing you know, he croked..Collapsed and fell to the floor was gasping for oxygen. He had a hard time breathing so they had to rush him to the hospital and they said he was experiencing a panic attack or anxiety attack. The attack was stress related but the booze triggered it even further. It was really scary.

The guy I replaced died in his sleep at age 35. He hurt his back, got some meds, had 2-3 drinks and went to bed. This, mixed with his sleep apnea did him in...they assume.

Over an ingrown hair. Good god how many antibiotics is he prescribing for that? On a good note it's good to cleanse once a year. Mine comes after New Years when I go at least 30 days with a highly alkaline diet. 90 days is ideal. I always seem to come up a bit short though. Good Luck with that.

Yup, sleep apnea and drinking and pills don't go together. I know a 22 year old that had sleep apnea (kinda obese but not gross) was drinking and was either taking zanax or lean (promethizine with codeine cough syrup) and he went to sleep and never woke up.

1st weekend down and spent the most part of it in 2 sports bars and the casino, now I just have to quit eating to take the place of the drinking.

Next challege comes tonight(biggest of all so far) when our local FF group gets together for MNF at 54th Street and to top it off it's Gold Card night which is buy 1 get 1 on all drinks.

Seriously,it's not that bad, just updating as it goes.
