I'm a dumbass. Teach me how to put music on my Zune.
Stupid ****ing software. Why can't it be simple?
|
google is your friend
|
the only dumb questions are the ones you don't ask.

only ask google first |
Open the zune software and drag the songs down to your zune. ROFL Its damn near the simplest shit ever. If you're having trouble with this, then don't even get an ipod.
|
but but microsoft made their software way better than apple's. the ipod is shit compared to the mighty zune.
|
this coming from a guy who lives on his computer 24/7. remind me not to get a zune

The Zune software is confusing at first but after a couple hours it is one of the simplest tools you can use. Way easier than iTunes.
|
Wow! at least you can plug the headphones into the jack. install software, plug and play device, name device, drag and drop, sync
|
Are you ****ing serious?

edit - wait, no you're full of shit. I can't just drag a folder from windows explorer to the zune icon. I have to add this crap into the zune software first. What a pain in the ass. |

Programmers are always trying to make stuff too fancy and just end up making it unnecessarily complicated.

The Zune software assumes everything the user has is perfectly organized by album and/or artist. Not so. |

Pain in the ass. Basically I'm going to configure what I want on the Zune OUTSIDE the shitty software, put it all in one folder, show Zune where the **** it is and Sync that up. Then I'll be done with it. |
Oh, and I failed to mention that now Zune decided it should be the default player for all the music on my computer.
**** that shit. Wow. |
Quote:
But all my music and shit are automatically imported to the zune music collection when they get to my computer. |
All you have to do is set up the folders for it to monitor. Assuming you don't have your music spread out everywhere on your CPU, it's pretty simple.
I've been running the Zune software since it came out. You think it's a pain in the ass now? It used to be horrible. |

Monitoring only refers to which folders the Zune pulls music from. Nothing else. On a side note, you may consider the Zune Pass. It's $15 a month and it's all you can download. You get to keep 10 songs a month, so basically it's unlimited streaming for $5 a month, and you keep everything else as long as you pay for it. It helps me sleep at night now that I don't have to "illegally" download an album just to see if it's complete shit or not. |

But they had to add layers of bullshit on top of that. Whee! |
Quote:
It's impatient idiots like you that make a shit ton of money for people like me that go around fixing your ****ups. During the install you are asked if you want the Zune software to be your default player. Before you say it didn't... I know for a fact it does because I just installed it on my computer and I selected that it not be the default player. Uninstall and re-install. This time, RTFM. |
Quote:
BTW, I found a registry hack that makes the Zune appear as a removable hard drive...so it appears I have found the solution. Hahahahaha! |
dang OP you need to read what you allow and don't allow. Can't complain that Zune is the default, when the pop-up notification ask simply do you want to make zune the default yes or no. IDK, but if you have kids I'd tell them do it or no xbox or playstation lolz.
|
Actually, it appears the Zune software does NOT ask to be the default player upon installation. I just reinstalled it and was not presented with any option.
So, capone...suck my balls. |

You know how I know? Because I can click on a video in my rig and the zune software doesnt pop up. You know how I managed that? I SET IT UP SO ZUNE WAS NOT THE DEFAULT PLAYER. So, Wendy... suck my dick. |
Quote:
FAIL Maybe we installed different versions. |
I know my install asked if I wanted it to be the default player.

Perhaps a wager of some sort? |

There were absolutely NO options to check when I installed. I am on W7. |
Quote:
http://www.zune.net/en-us/products/software/download/ I also am on W7 and yes, I installed on a zuneless PC. Would you like to make a wager? |

**** Microsoft. |

if it makes him feel any better, I get the option on the initial install only, even if I uninstall and reinstall after a reboot. Must write something into the registry. Regardless, simply go into settings>file types> deselect all (by hand) and hit ok and zune is no longer your default. |

Wager or no? |

Please note that it asks you to change all that shit AFTER IT HAS INSTALLED.
If you don't bother to change the settings it ****s all your shit up. There is nothing DURING THE INSTALL PROCESS that indicates it is going to change something unless you tell it not to. **** THE ZUNE SOFTWARE. |
Quote:
"Make the Zune software my primary music and video player" didnt give you a hint that you might want to change something if you didn't want your defaults changed???? If you are a moron and click start playing, of course it will change your defaults... IT SAYS IT WILL. BTW, the setup IS part of the install process. As of those screen shots, the system still asks me a few more questions and only THEN will the program start. The screenshots are from the launch screen. |
blablabla...it's still a sneaky way of getting you to make the zune the default player
There should be an option BEFORE or DURING the install. ****ERS. |

Jesus Christ. The Zune software completely ****ing sucks. I created a new folder and copied about 27 gigs of music into it. I made that my "music collection" and pointed the Zune toward it. I "sync'd" it all up and thought it would be good to go. Now it just STOPS after 12.3 GB? WHAT THE **** IS THAT SHIT?

**** Itunes |

OK, it seems to be going now. I guess I had to change the setting under my "sync groups" to "all." Needlessly complicated.
|
Jesus Christ man... then return the ****ing thing and get something else.
|
Nah, it's cool. I finally beat it into submission. It's a good device...despite it's completely CRAPPY software.
|
Just thought I'd bring this up front for a shot at 1,000,000

BTW, I think the Zune 30GB doesn't seem to do videos properly. I'm sure you could download them from the Zune marketplace and they would work fine. I don't have that problem with my Zune 80GB that I just got a couple weeks ago. Anyway, I finally figured out the best way to do it for me. Once I used DVD Shrink and DVD decrypter, I created a movie project in Nero and exported it as Nero AV (or something like that - it lists it as a file for portable devices like a PSP). |

Mine still works great. And it was a lot cheaper than the iPod. Got a 30GB for $65.

Get an Apple product. Evidently, they'll cure the world's ails. :)

Other than that, nothing really wrong with it. I wish I could use it to add music to android phones. Posted via Mobile Device |
