Was the 2009 Draft by Pioli the worst draft ever.
I hear a lot of people saying that the 2009 Draft by Pioli was the worst draft ever.
Poll to come, public… Please explain your reasoning…. I understand you can’t judge a draft until after 3 years, but you can ignore that if you want.. so I have taken the drafts of 2004, 2005 and 2006 (2 by dick and 1 by herm) to see if you would agree with me, that it could have been a lot worse… I marked X on those that are still here, and i also marked those who are on other teams, who i thought were good picks... 2009 1 3 Tyson Jackson (x) 3 67 Alex Magee (x) 4 102 Donald Washington (x) 5 139 Colin Brown (x) 6 175 Quinten Lawrence (x) 7 212 Javarris Williams (x) 7 237[a] Jake O'Connell (x) 7 256 Ryan Succop (x) 2004 2 4(36) Junior Siavii 2 29(61) Kris Wilson 3 30(93) Keyaron Fox - good 4 9(105) Samie Parker 4 30(126)Jared Allen - great 6 30(195)Jeris McIntyre 730(231) Kevin Sampson 2005 1 Derrick Johnson (x) 3 Dustin Colquitt (x) 4 Craphonso Thorpe 5 Boomer Grigsby 5 Alphonso Hodge 6 Will Svitek 6 Khari Long 7 James Kilian 7 Jeremy Parquet 2006 1 20 Tamba Hali (x) 2 54 Bernard Pollard - good 3 85 Brodie Croyle (x) 5 154 Marcus Maxey 6 186 Tre' Stallings 6 190 Jeff Webb 7 228 Jarrad Page (x) |

I guess to me, it might have potential to be a bad draft, but its not even close to being the worst draft in this decade.... let alone ever...
|
It's stupid to judge the draft today. Better than judging it a year ago, but after next season, it will be much clearer. Pass.
|
For what we actually drafted, 2002 was suck. Fuj was good, but the rest was TEH SUCK.
I don't know if you'd count getting Roaf for the 3rd round pick as being a good draft, though. A good move, yes, but our drafting ability still sucked. |
Oh for ****s sake.......

2009.
Because Pioli was the GM. That's why. |
Jackson will NEVER live up to where he was selected, but i don't think that makes him a bust. He'll be alright, but never an impact player. I'll reserve judgment until after next season regarding Washington and Lawrence. And obviously, we found a Kicker, which a lot of teams struggle to find.

2005 was pretty frackin sucky
too early to tell on 2009 |

Its insane to judge a draft after one year.
|
The fact that this is even a topic of conversation, with one of the highest draft positions in franchise history, isn't a great sign (#2 overall in '88, '79, and '78).
|
Damn...they are all pretty depressing when you look at them. But I'd say this draft can't be fully evaluated yet. Of the ones on the list, I'd say that 2004 was the worst and Jared Allen was pure unadulterated luck. Take him out and all you might have is Key Fox.
That draft sucked ass... |
