Yeah, it sucks ass.

POND_OF_RED 01-30-2010 10:17 AM

I think they rely too much on the heat wave to come from Olathe and melt the snow.

baitism 01-30-2010 10:18 AM

All the cities are being stingy because their budgets are tight. Unfortunately, it backfires when several guys with trucks take out light poles.

The roads weren't that bad. I'm going to assume you meant to say several women.

EDIT: Nevermind I see your from Johnson County so it could be either. I don't think anyone out there knows how to drive in snow.

morphius 01-30-2010 10:36 AM

I think they were all counting on global warming to keep everything warm enough that they could cheap out on snow removal.

Spott 01-30-2010 10:37 AM

Driving in the snow is a blast.

Heh. Well that is true, too. But, I was also referring to people who think trucks are good in snow (without sandbags in the back).

SPchief 01-30-2010 10:53 AM

Or people that thinks that 4 wheel drive makes it eaiser to stop

People in JoCo don't know how to drive in snow because our road crews actually do their ****ing jobs ROFL

That explains why I saw 5 wrecks on I-35 last night. You may clean your roads better but it doesn't help the drivers any. If there is snow on the grass people drive 20 mph under the speed limit. It's ****ing annoying. Just because you don't have anywhere to be doesn't mean the rest of us don't.

I was on I-35 last night and didn't see any wrecks in JoCo. Must have been on the dirty-ass Missouri side!

Yep... and if it's 45 out and there's some melted snow on the road (aka water), people slow down.

People like to talk about how it's a Kansas or Missouri problem, but it's a metro area thing... there's a big difference between driving around here in Omaha (or a few other places I've been) and KC in the rain or snow. There are idiots everywhere who don't know what the fast lane is for, etc; but KC is special when it comes to driving in any weather except warm & sunny.... it's like driving in Texas when it snows, except they have an excuse.

I blame Katie Horner.

I know. I'm just ****ing with the Missouri people. It's my duty as an Olathean.

Is that what your mom is calling it these days?

Eh, I tried.

Rain Man 01-30-2010 12:32 PM

And while we're complaining, where's the summit? I bet that I go there, I don't see any summit in that town. What kind of false advertising is going on there?

Couldn't find Lee either.

Snow is cool as long as you aren't driving in it on Shrooms or LSD or something. Could imagine how awful that would be?

Omaha is a terrible place to drive, I do not miss it at all.

Deberg_1990 01-30-2010 08:34 PM

Why is it that wherever a person lives, that place has the worst drivers in the world??

Why is it that every city has the worlds best BBQ??

Phobia 01-30-2010 10:41 PM

I thought LS did a pretty good job today. I know they preemptively laid down salt and I know for a fact that it helped because I drive from my city into LS and watch the road turn from snow and ice in my town to blacktop in LS where they've put down salt & sand mix.

I thought about that for a while, and then I started travelling... there are idiots everywhere, but KC seems to be in the middle when it comes to bad weather driving. They get the same bad weather every year, yet it's like they're relearning how to drive in it each year... if I ever live south of KC, it'll be far enough south that it never snows.

They suck at the whole fast lane concept.... they really don't get it. However, when I lived here last winter (and the one time it snowed last week), it was handled much better than KC. The city didn't shut down, traffic doesn't get 100x worse because it snows a quarter of an inch or it starts raining...

It's more clear now - than ever. You've spent time in Atlanta. ;)

I tell you, mofos around these parts aren't real hot with the fast-lane thing. Speeding is fairly stringently policed in Sydney so people think that sitting in the right lane doing the speed limit is the way to do it.

The closest thing we have here to snow / ice is the occasional summer hailstorm and most people are too scared to even walk outside when that's happening, nevermind drive in it. Every so often we might go a couple months without rain and then it will piss down, and all that dry oil on the road gets picked up and washed about and there's a shitload of accidents.

penguinz 01-31-2010 09:01 AM

Why would they send the plows out for an inch of snow?

And LS does have to have the worst plowing in the midwest. In the 5 years I have lived in this house the x-mas storm and the one right after it were the first times they have plowed my road.

Too bad the ****ers piled all the snow from the cul-d-sac in front of my mail box. I had to get all my climbing gear out to check the mail for almost two weeks straight.

KCbroncoHATER 01-31-2010 10:53 AM

I lived on Chipman Road for years and they always plowed it first.

Props to LSMO street dept.
