*** KU vs KSU 03/03/10 Game Thread ***
Senior Night and here comes the Kittens, finally back into the top 5 since 1958. Long dry spell there Kitty fans. No Boozer, No Chamberlin, just some good old fashion basketball amongst our little brother from the country.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ March 3, 7 p.m. KU vs. Kansas State Men's Basketball, Allen Fieldhouse * o TV: The Big 12 Network (Sunflower Broadband channels 8 and 15) o Schedules: KU | KSU o Rosters: KU | KSU o Stats: KU | KSU o Series record: KU leads 178-90 o Last meeting: KU won 81-79 (1-30-2010) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ It's crazy the rest of the world will not see this one on National TV. :shake: Beak 'em Boys :KU: Discuss freely....... |
No way the Cats hang. Due for a needed loss to get re focused for the tourney. Hawks by 15.
|
KU should win since its at home on senior night against a hyped team.
But KU better get their issues on defense fixed or it could be a long night. |
This is going to be a really fun game....
Senior night, the cats could really **** up the party |
KSU 72 KU 70 :D |
If KSU gets 'good Clemente' (i.e. he's making shots) and KU gets 'mediocre Collins', I like the Cats chances. If Clemente goes 2-11 and Collins is invigorated by Senior Night, not so much.
|
Cats win.. WTI burns Lawrence to the ground. Goes into history books as the states greatest villain.
|
I predict if KU is in trouble, danny manning suits up and the refs allow it
|
Goddamn, I haven't looked forward to a game this much since we were about to play UNC in the FF. It would be really nice to always have this kind of level of competition and hype in the B12.
Don't even need a W to do it either. |
1958, Boozer vs Chamberlin, 2 OT game, no way the Kittens steal this one. Not after a KU loss to OSU last week and Sr night on Weds....
Rock Chalk Jayhawk, Go KU :KU: |
Sherron should be getting all kinds of calls. :D
|
Rock Chalk! Win the conference outright.
**** K-State
If Denny and Jake get going it'll be a hell of a game. K State goes 45-50 % from the field and they win. Of course that's gonna be one hell of a challenge to put it mildly.
If Kansas doesn't beat Kansas State on Wednesday..well I don't know what I would do. Something. I'd probably be dead or charred to death from some apocalyptic event. Or maybe eaten by zombies. Or frozen in hell.
|
I don't think there's any way Sherron allows this team to lose on HIS night. Especially not coming off a stupid loss like Saturday.
|
Yeah, as much as I would love to see K-State pull out a win. I don't see it happening.
K-State's top 4 scorers are going to need to have a big night and we're going to need a good performance from someone out of nowhere like McGruder or Irving. Extremely tall order on Senior night against a focused KU team coming off a loss. |
Yeah, how the hell is this not the national game of the week simulcast on every station? Big 12 Network? That's some weak shit. Where are they gonna air Baylor vs. Iowa State softball now?
Not that I am complaining but how in the hell is this game not on national television. ESPN or something.
|
I wish the game was tonight!
I hope that's not the case tomorrow. |
If I remember correctly, KU hasn't been beaten on Senior Night since 1984ish.
I think you are correct, the nail in the coffin that year. |
**** ESPN. They deserve to not have this game. |
The loss snapped a seven-game winning streak for KU and drops its record to 10-5 overall and 1-1 in Big 12 play. <o></o> Kansas looked in control of the game in the first half and early in the second. The Jayhawks took a 26-18 lead at the half helped by a 12-0 run midway through the stanza that gave KU a 12-point edge.<o></o><o></o> Sophomore Sasha Kaun's dunk gave the Jayhawks a 12-point lead with 17:05 left in the game. After the flush, Kansas State started to chip away at KU's lead. The Wildcats used a 10-2 run to pull within a point of KU with less than six minutes to play. A layup by Cartier Martin and a jumper by Clent Stewart gave KSU a 50-47 lead with 4:16 remaining. Sophomore Russell Robinson tied the game at 50 with a 3-pointer on KU's next possession. Stewart responded with two free throws and Martin put in a jumper to give KSU a four-point lead, its largest of the game. A runner by freshman Brandon Rush pulled the Jayhawks to within three points with 55 second left. With nine seconds remaining, Akeem Wright knocked down the second of his two free throws, giving KSU a 59-55 victory and its first against KU since 1994. The Wildcats only committed four turnovers in the second half after 15 in the first. KSU shot 57.1 percent in the second half to KU's 25.9. Freshman Mario Chalmers poured in a career-high 20 points on 6-of-14 shooting and added four assists and four steals. Rush notched 12 points and Robinson 11. Kaun came off the bench to score eight points and pull down nine boards. <o></o><o></o> The Jayhawks will return to action on Monday, Jan. 16, against border rival Missouri, in Columbia, Mo. That Sasha Kaun (8pts, 9 boards) never did anything for KU. :rolleyes:
I marvel at how CoMo can have so many posts, and yet never bring anything worthwhile to a single conversation
Back to the game.....I don't think we have a realistic shot at winning, but that's why games aren't played on paper.
I just hope it's a good game and not a blowout. |
Wouldn't want a KSU blowout either though. However unlikely, I would like to see both teams as #1 seeds. A blowout coupled with any other losses prior to the tournament could drop the Wildcats to the 3 line. |
You rich people only get HD, we poor folk get SD.
Doesn't matter to me, I just want to see them and get a win. Who cares if it's HD or SD, It's KU, that's enough for me. |
Duke will have to slip up to lose that #1 seed. |
IMHO KSU will not fall below a #2. they have been strong all year and have been getting tons of love in AP + coaches polls. They are a lock for a first day bye in the Big XII tourney... even an early exit won't screw them this year. Edit: they may get screwed by being the #2 in the Midwest.... with Kansas ;) |
For any Topeka KU and KSU fans that haven't seen the get together thread.
I have no idea what KU is going to play like after a WTF performance on Saturday. Could have a ton of passion and out for blood or could be in a funk (which I doubt, but will fully embrace). K State hasn't lost in a month and don't seem to be phased by an opposing team's gym. I have zero read on this game. Just looked and don't see any line set for the game, but I'm sure it'll be KU by 2-4. Ready for it to get here. I just hope it's not another OT game. My nerves won't be able to handle it!!
|
If we don't destroy them I'll be pissed. It's time to start playing to our potential. Our best is beating them by like 15 at home.
|
KU played well in the second half of the OSU game (scored 48 points)
The miserable first half did them in. I've not head how practice has gone. It was an early indicator of how poorly the OSU game went... bad practice, bad game. |
