I for one would like to say thanks for starting this today, wanted to verify what I believed to be the start time, woohooo.....making a special trip to town just to watch KU.

Ole Skip was superstitious and wanted me to start the game threads, he would have me make sure we had 5 * on each thread because , IIRC, we didn't lose that year when I did them with 5.

IMO, They're not as good on D as that SIU team you're thinking about but they are a lot bigger in the post. The Morris twins will make a huge difference and that should wear down UNI. Iowa will have to shoot better than 50% from three and shoot a lot of them to hang with KU.

I'm WSU fun so I see the Valley year in and year out. I think KU wins this one because KU is really physical when they want to be. Watch out for the Koch brothers they'll flop on D like a carp on a hot sidewalk. :) They're good for about 3 of those a game.

Good to know... seems like there are more and more of the grind-it-into-the-ground type of teams than there used to be, and it obviously keeps games close. That SIU game just left me numb... and on top of that, Jay Bilas was practically cheering for SIU (and I really like Jay Bilas... it was ridiculous).

I don't remember Bilas, but I do remember the grinding game. That was gut wrenching.

I agree it sucks but that's what SIU does. As I WSU fan I don't like it either but it makes your team mentally and fundamentally strong if when you play against it.

He was going on and on and on.... and on about the free throw shooting and he kept bringing up Bucknell and Bradley, and how KU would basically be the biggest chokers since Choker McChokerson (that's actually the 2nd time I've used that today) if they lost....... the game was like being repeatedly punched in the gut, and the game + Bilas was like being repeatedly punched in the gut while being in the studio audience for The View while listening to Herm Edwards say "you play to win the game" over and over.

The reason he was banned. There is a reason for everything...

as you can tell from my avatar, im a shocker fan, and have watched UNI several times. UNI does remind me a whole bunch of the mid 2000s SIU team, they grind it out, they absolutely love to play the half court game. I think they are the 2nd best defensive team in the nation.

-Eglseder is a talented 7 footer, but he has to be the ugliest man on this planet, when UNI came to Wichita State, us in the student section, kept calling an "ogre" and "Biff" from back to the future.

-Ali Farokhmanesh can shoot the 3, do not give him space, I remember one of the games i watched against Old Dominion he drained 7 three pointer all in the 2nd half, and i believe he is the guy that hit a 28 foot 3 pointer to beat UNLV.

-Kwadzo Ahelegbe, i call him the Shocker killer, it seems like every time we played UNI, he would kill us, he is good at taking it to the basket and pulling up, he will push off with his off hand ALOT.

-Adam Koch, was the MVC player of the year, but is a dirty SOB, to be honest i cant stand the guy, he one of those who will throw elbows on one end, and then bitch to the refs that someone is pulling on his jersey on the other end. Oh nice actor too, the guy is the "King of the Flop".

-Lucas O'rear- comes off the push, a post player, was the MVC sixth man of the year. Hes another one that gets down and dirty. He seems like he gets alot rebound put backs, i was never impressed with any of his post moves.

Those are prolly their best players, they do have decent depth tho. To be honest they play a boring brand of basketball, they use alot of the shot clock, and they play dirty aggresive defense, and yes they do get away alot like SIU teams always did. If KU does get up by double digit, you should be fine then, i dont think they are very good come back team, their brand of ball just does not match a good come team. I actually am looking forward to the Eglseder/Aldrich match up in the post. I do think KU prolly wins by around 8-10 points KU in the mid 60s and UNI in the mid 50s.

I believe that is scoring defense, not necessarily efficiency. That's a product of the pace they play on offense. Fewer possessions = lower scoring.

I'll only be worried about this game if KU comes out with no intensity or tight again. If the boys are bouncing around, I think it could be a good afternoon! History suggests KU will play looser than we did on Thursday.

If KU plays to potential they will blow NIU out of the water. Come out slow and tight and it could be a long one.

I usually don't get the feeling that KU (or any other team) needs to blowout their competition, because from game to game it just doesn't matter.... but damn, I'm itching for a 25 point halftime lead, especially after hearing from multiple people that it could be a 55-50 sort of game.
