Air marshall smelled smoke and confronted the guy as he was leaving the bathroom. Air marshall asked him what was going on and he said he was trying to light his shoe. They don't know if he was joking or not.

<!-- / icon and title --> <!-- message --> my guess is this will turn out to be someone who was caught smoking in the bathroom and made a poor joke to the air marshall. I can't imagine a terrorist would admit to someone he was trying to light his shoes on fire in the lavatory.

Oh, fucking super. That should make my screening experience at BWI so much faster tomorrow....

Not funny. Maybe the joke sounds better in Arabic.

Diplomat quizzed after mid-air bomb scare
Passenger reportedly joked about lighting his shoe on D.C.-to-Denver flight NBC News and news services updated 18 minutes ago<script language="javascript"> function UpdateTimeStamp(pdt) { var n = document.getElementById("udtD"); if(pdt != '' && n && window.DateTime) { var dt = new DateTime(); pdt = dt.T2D(pdt); if(dt.GetTZ(pdt)) {n.innerHTML = dt.D2S(pdt,((''.toLowerCase()=='false')?false:true));} } } UpdateTimeStamp('634063381040170000');</script> DENVER - A Qatari diplomat trying to sneak a smoke in an airplane bathroom sparked a bomb scare Wednesday night on a flight from Washington to Denver, with fighter jets scrambled and law enforcement put on high alert, officials said. No explosives were found on the man, and officials do not believe he was trying to harm anyone, according to senior law enforcement officials who spoke on condition of anonymity. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/36243847/ |
I hope the handcuffed him in a really uncomfortable position next to a dead Indian and her wailing family for 8+ hours and then proceeded with a cavity search performed by the agent with the largest digits on the force. That would be a good joke in English or Arabic.
