Smoke and fire...

Well, I just talked to my source. There is obviously a strong, strong impression that the Redskins take Berry. I don't necessarily believe it, but he does.

He said if Berry is gone, it's going to be McClain.

Take it for what it's for.

How in the F can the Skins justify taking Berry and not the #1 Left Tackle on their board? Unless they have something else up their sleeve to get a left tackle, I just can't see Berry as their pick. I still think they're trying to trade down.

I do too, but my guy is pretty resigned to the fact Berry is going to be gone.

I won't believe it until Goddell says it, but the Redskins are so ****ing backwards it makes my head spin.

You trade for McNabb and you protect him with Stephon Heyer?

My Dad is a Redskins fan.

If the Redskins take Berry at #4.....I'm going to go over to his house and kick him in the balls.

DaWolf 04-22-2010 03:29 PM

So sounds like they desperately want a leader on this defense, be it Berry or McClain.

Hopefully if it is the latter, they manage a trade down.

If it is McClain at 5, he better turn into Ray Lewis quick.

Right now I think there are too many signs pointing to the Redskins going Berry and trading Haynesworth to get something to grab or trade for a LT...

Exactly. It ain't ****ing Bulaga. And it's a pick that actually makes sense for what we do defensively, whether it's traditionally a top-10 position in the draft or not. There are a number of other ways they could go that would be a shitton worse. Did I mention Bulaga?

But a trade down would be nice.

Pretty much what I'm thinking...how the hell can they take Berry over Okung, Williams, etc?

Ugh.

Trading Haynesworth for a pick, then trading that pick and one next year to NO for Jammal Brown.

If Jason ****ing Campbell can be the 15th rated QB last year behind that line, I'd think that McNabb would do fine as well.

Not to mention that there are guys like Gaither and Brown available, and guys that will get cut after the draft.

Hell, there's word that Alan Faneca is going to be cut over the weekend.

We can agree to disagree. I think this line is going to get McNabb killed. Campbell didn't take a lot of shots and got his ass kicked last year when Samuels went down.

Yep, wouldn't make sense. They don't pick again until the 4th round. If they take Berry i'm sure going to have a lot of fun watching McNabb get pummeled this year.

petegz28 04-22-2010 03:36 PM

I thought I heard on the NFL channel today that they were going to sign Haynesworth to a contract by the end of the day. Do they draft defense with their #1 pick while doing so?

Worst case scenario:
1. Bradford
2. Suh
3. McCoy
4. Berry
5. Chiefs ****ed since taking Clausen is very unlikely

Best case:
1. Bradford
2. Suh
3. McCoy
4. Okung
5. Berry, and Clausen actually does slide into the 20s, Weis jumps up and down on the war room table until it collapses and Pioli trades back into the first round to grab him.

Please make it the later...

CosmicPal 04-22-2010 03:46 PM

Good lord, everyone is getting hyped up over nothing. This is the day of the draft- rumors are going around faster than high school girls on Twitter can tweet them. There's going to be rumors- mainly teams are going to say, "Oh, we're interested in Joe Blow" only to drive up trade interests.

If there is a team in the league right now that needs to trade down BIG TIME, it's the Redskins. They only have 4 picks in the draft! They're using Berry as their own trade bait, and they may go ahead and draft him JUST to trade him.

But, I doubt they do that. I honestly see them going LT because it is their biggest need and as much as I hate Shanny, I don't think he's dumb enough to pass on their biggest need when they only have 4 picks in the draft.

Lighten up folks...calm down. Breathe in. Breathe out. Breathe in. Breathe out.

the Talking Can 04-22-2010 03:47 PM

we passed on a QB for DJ...meanwhile the Packers transitioned from franchise QB to franchise QB

now we'll pass on another QB for a LB

because lbs are important, but QBs aren't
because LTs are important (per fuktard idiots like saccofaidsbats), but QBs aren't

it's fun playing it safe and having no chance in hell in ever sniffing a superbowl....but at least we won't waste Clark's precious money....and that makes true fans warm and fuzzy....

Yep pretty much. Defense was NOT the problem for Washington last year. They were 10th in total defense and 8th in passing defense. They are switching to a 3-4 but Eric Berry doesn't help with the transition of the front 7.

They gave up 46 sacks last year and unless i'm forgetting something they haven't really done anything yet to fix that offensive line.

Taking Berry makes zero sense for them.

I don't see how a report comes out and says he has it, and then he says he doesn't. Doesn't make any sense to me. It's enough of a red flag, but I'm not a fan of him at 5 anyway. I don't even think he's the best LB in this draft.
