So, do you like the new NFL draft format?

Personally, I love the new format. You get your first rounder in primetime... the sports jockeys talk about it all day friday... and guess who you are gonna get.

The GMs and coaches get to reset their draft boards over night.

I think it will allow teams to have better drafts overall... and miss on less picks.

Cool process. I wasn't sold at first, but now love it.

|Zach| 04-23-2010 10:31 AM

I like it a lot.

Hootie 04-23-2010 10:32 AM

I think it's ****ING awesome.

The Franchise 04-23-2010 10:32 AM

I thought it was going to suck at first....but now I actually kind of like it.

The only shitty thing is now I don't get any work done on Thursday and Friday.

DBOSHO 04-23-2010 10:33 AM

No. I HATE waiting.

Old Dog 04-23-2010 10:33 AM

Would like to see the whole thing moved back to Saturday and Sunday

KCUnited 04-23-2010 10:34 AM

I still prefer my sports shit on the weekend. Also, I wasn't ready for it to end last night, but the generated hype is kind of cool. I don't love the fact that I have to hope my boss leaves early so I can haul ass to make it home by 5 tonight. I do like the pace of the draft though.

keg in kc 04-23-2010 10:34 AM

The prime time part is fine, but, while I think it could make for a more interesting early round this evening, I really hate having a day break between the first and second rounds.

BigMeatballDave 04-23-2010 10:34 AM

Do not want! I hate waiting.

Deberg_1990 04-23-2010 10:34 AM

Iits ok, but it kind of breaks the momentum. Id like to see rounds 1 and 2 back to back...but they would have to start earlier or go until 1 in the morning.

Hootie 04-23-2010 10:35 AM

well lets be honest...

even when Day 1 ended we were all like ****! and wanted it to keep going (like it used to after the 3rd round)

oldandslow 04-23-2010 10:35 AM

Like the Sat/Sun way much better.

Exactly. It is obviously a ploy to get more money and prolong the coverage.

Despite that... I find I actually like it!

L.A. Chieffan 04-23-2010 10:37 AM

if drafting on thursdays was a rock band, it would be the Eagles.

vailpass 04-23-2010 10:40 AM

I like the 1st round time being shortened from 15 minutes to 10 minutes.
I very much miss the tradition of going to the bar for breakfast and staying all day to watch the draft, talk some football with other hard-cores, and have Last Call Drivers come take me and my car home 10 hours later.

Bane 04-23-2010 10:42 AM

Nah,I hate it.I'd rather they take it down to 5 min and have the whole fukkn draft in 1 day!I liked It way better with the first 3 rounds being day 1.

Mr. Arrowhead 04-23-2010 10:43 AM

Yea, i love it, it gives you a break after the most important round, and say ok, this is whos available.

This was not the first yr for that.

MOhillbilly 04-23-2010 10:44 AM

no, it screwed my saturday routine.

GoHuge 04-23-2010 10:45 AM

I really enjoyed the 1st round, but towards the end I was like "more more!!" Of course I was pumped about our pick which probably helped my mood, but I think it was one of the more entertaining 1st rounds to watch. Lots of action for sure. There weren't many WTF moments either. The Tebow haters will say the Broncos blew it (and I hope they did), but I understand every other move that I saw made. Alot of surprises.

Bugeater 04-23-2010 10:48 AM

I like the new 10 minute time limit, it's hilarious watching ESPN scramble to get all their bullshit in and stay on top of things. They had a ton of ****ups last night.

milkman 04-23-2010 10:48 AM

I hate it.

Give me back my Saturday and Sunday draft.

KurtCobain 04-23-2010 10:49 AM

I wish Round 2 was on the same day as Round 1.

HemiEd 04-23-2010 10:53 AM

Loved it, as it didn't drag out. They did a very nice job with it.

My only complaint is that Michael Irvin makes the NFL Channel broadcast almost unwatchable, and Steve Young (ESPN) is obviously starting to suffer from the effects of the concussions.

Steve Young has always sucked ass, and he is on my most hated list right behind Chris Berman.

How about Neon Deion last night giving us such journalistic gems as "hey man you musta' knowed who was gonna' draft you cuz LOOK yo socks match yo jersey!"

teedubya 04-23-2010 10:58 AM

I like it so much because Carl always ****ed up the #2 pick... now there is 24 hours between picks. Less **** ups in round 2.

He was talking over EVERYONE last night. It was highly annoying. If I am ESPN, he isn't in the middle seat tonight.

notorious 04-23-2010 11:01 AM

Perfect Pace. It was smart for them to break it up between 3 days.

The teams will get to promote their 1st rounders, and the speculation about round 2 will get huge ratings.

Win for the fans and the NFL.

The only thing I would change is I would put it on Friday night.

the Talking Can 04-23-2010 11:07 AM

i'm liking it more than I though I would

i get to listen to sports radio all day breaking down the picks and speculating on round two

at this point, round two is almost as exciting as round one...

notorious 04-23-2010 11:08 AM

I don't work in an office, but I bet the water cooler talk is pretty strong today, too.

The NFL is the master at leaving consumers wanting more.

KChiefs1 04-23-2010 11:09 AM

I'd prefer a Friday, Saturday & Sunday format.

I think Young clearly showed signs of getting worse. He used to be just stupid, but last night he kicked it up a notch.

Yeah, I think he pissed off some of his fellow analysts as well. The look on some of their faces, when he got off on that Bronco move tangent was great.

He did make one good point though. "So the guy you drafted reminds you of the guy you just shitcanned?"ROFL

I don't like it and probably never will.

OTOH, I'm still pissed about the designated hitter rule.

the Talking Can 04-23-2010 11:23 AM

frankly it frees my weekend up and i'd be sitting in front of a tv on thurs/frid anyway.....maybe i'm less diehard than i used to be...

kc rush 04-23-2010 11:29 AM

I like that it adds drama to round 2 and seems to encourage trades between teams. I'd rather they ran it Friday night Saturday, Sunday just so it could be more of an event for fans. It sucks getting up for work in the morning after staying up way too late on a Thursday night.

It was kind of fun to see Tom Jackson get really pissed off though.

Mr. Laz 04-23-2010 11:34 AM

so far, so good ... let's see what the rest is like.

patteeu 04-23-2010 11:35 AM

I voted "I like it". I'm impressed at how evenly split the board is. Good poll. Would have been nice if it was public since I doubt that that would have affected the results though.

SCTrojan 04-23-2010 11:35 AM

I'm like some here - didn't think I would like it, but I do.

It does build up some drama for the second round.

One of the developments I never expected is how much this format really magnifies situations like Jimmy Clausen - expected to go in the 1st, but has to wait about 18 hours or so to finally have his name called.

Yeah, more than once.

On the other hand, I really enjoyed John Gruden and can see why he has been successful.

Slainte 04-23-2010 12:02 PM

I like the new format, though I got no work done today from checking and rechecking various draft-related websites. The Clausen cliffhanger was a nice angle, too. Keep those asses in the seats, NFL...
