Fan Falls from stands at Texas Rangers game

ARLINGTON -- The Rangers-Indians game was delayed 16 minutes in the bottom of the fifth inning when a male fan fell from the second-deck club level and into the lower bowl at the Ballpark in Arlington on Tuesday night. The fan flipped over the railing before landing on his back in section 35, which is roughly a 30-foot drop. He was conscious and able to move all of his extremities. After being stabilized, he was taken to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas. He was sitting in the front row of section 235 and was reaching for a foul that had sailed over his head and caromed back toward the field. According to a witness, the man turned his back to the field, reached over his head for the foul ball and lost his balance. Four other fans were treated for minor injuries related to the fall, but none was taken to the hospital. After the foul ball, which came off the bat of Nelson Cruz, a hush fell over the ballpark as Indians players took a knee and Rangers players sat silent from the dugout. That's when crew chief umpire Tim Tschida halted the game. |
Wow... Video?
|
If I have Nelson Cruz on my fantasy roster, do I get any points for that?

Nice try there fan. Get well soon.

Did he get the ball?
|
The only video they showed was the normal center field cam where you see all the fans behind home plate stand up horrified. The home plate ump put his hands on his head and turned away.

I'm AMAZED it doesn't happen more often. I mean, when you see drunk people flying down the stairs in the upper decks.....

GoChiefs? Oh Man... get well soon, bro

It's Darwin-Award-nominees like this who ruin it for the rest of us. Like the idiots who keep falling off cruise ships, and now my view is ruined 'cause the ships have to put ****ing glass barriers and netting all over the place. Now the railings in that ballpark will be right in your frigging line of sight, to keep future idiots from falling over.
I miss the days of my youth, when kids and adults used bicycles and motorcycles without helmets, and rode in the station wagon at full speed with the tailgate down and the backwards-facing backseat full of kids with their legs hanging out of the car, and God let the Law of Natural Selection do the work for him. |

There was a guy who died a few years ago at a Braves game after falling from the Upper Deck....it was alot farther though than this guy. |

And, additionally, youre blaming this future rule change on a guy who had an accident, and was almost a victim of said "natural selection", which apparently only occurred when you were a kid? ...ok... |
Heh, I remember being at Arrowhead for a game a few years back and seeing some Stu-nod taking a dive as well.

Alas, gravity... The great equalizer. We call this, "thinning of the herd."

yea, a google searched turned up the Turner Field death and a guy who jumped at Yankee Stadium a few years back.
Unforunately, this happens more than it should. |
I thought so. There is no way it doesnt happen all the time. When i go to the games i look at the railings like wtf? They're below waste level for most people. Add that to the steepness of the upper deck...

D-Bowe could learn something from this guy. Screw Dwight Clark, that should be known as "The Catch". |
So MLB isn't letting anyone see this?

there was a dude at the arrowhead that feel through the tent awhile back, then there was a drunk dude at arrowhead that was in the upper deck that started to roll over people and gain speed from the top of the upper deck just started rolling down peoples heads. The one at the K the dude tried to do an Handstand on the railing above the exit of the plaza level. The new K is begging to have someone fall off the side of the escalader on the top deck. the escalador comes up to my waste and you are 30 stories up or so. Add that and how drunk you have to be to have the pile of shit on the field.

My wife won tickets to arrowhead one time. we got there and it was 2nd to last row at the top. I sat there had 4 beers and had to pee. When I got up to go down the journey of stairs, I felt a little scared I would fall. Scared enough I stopped drinking...at least until I could reach safer ground.

The game was the 2nd home game after 9/11. My initial reaction to seeing all those people standing was that it was some kind of terrorist attack. |

Sometimes people just fall. It happens.
|
I'm suprised more of us Royals fans haven't voluntarily jumped.
