A completely premature comparison - Jamaal Charles and Paul Warfield
So I just got done watching the 72 and 73 Dolphins episodes of America's Game. There were some highlights of Paul Warfield, who is in the hall of ****ing fame.
It's premature to compare Jamaal Charles to a hall of famer, but I couldn't help but notice some similarity in the way they both move and are built. Warfield was an inch taller and about 10 pounds lighter. Both are speed demons, obviously. Warfield actually played running back in college and ran track, like Charles. In particular, the play at 1:30 just screams Jamaal Charles to me. Would Warfield have played running back in the pros had he not been drafted by the Browns, who had Jim Brown at the time, and gone to the Dolphins, who had the insane backfield of Mercury Morris, Jim Kiick and Larry Csonka? |
I'd kind of forgotten about Warfield. When I was a kid, he was the Michael Jordan of wide receivers. Any comparison of receivers started with, "After Warfield, who's the best receiver..."
|
maybe.

Did you know Art Modell traded Warfield for a first-round pick...and used it on this piece of crap? |
"hot to trot and too cool to catch"
Lol classic |

The best always know how to run after the catch. They aren't always speed demons, but they have moves and field vision. Warfield was a speed demon with fantastic field vision.

Honestly, I think JC, and Chris Johnson look extremely alike when they run. Seriously, look at them. They look like the same guy in different unis.
|
Chris Johnson always looks smaller to me.

You know, projecting out his first half-season as a starter, I bet Larry Johnson is going to kick all of Jim Brown's records to the curb.

He was my favorite receiver not named Otis Taylor. Really, really smooth. |

You're absolutely right! Completely premature.
