Finally replaced my car... no more walking everywhere!
Sold my old car to Metrolike. Been without one for a while now.
I bought it 2 weeks ago from an individual in Huntsville, AL, but it didn't arrive until today. Couldn't go without a car any longer, and just really couldn't find anything that really resonated with me for the right price. Couldn't get an E55 AMG with all the options that I wanted for a reasonable price. They were either ridiculously high mileage, frame damaged cars, or bare bones models without Navi and heated seats like I wanted. The ones with all the options and decent mileage were all really overpriced. Same with an M5. So, I settled for an S2000. Not my first choice, but I dig it. It's a 2004, 59,488 miles. Paid $14k. It needs some paint work, but mechanically, it's great. Same with the interior. I'll drive it like this for a while, and then when I replace the clutch, I'm going to throw on a supercharger. When it was delivered this morning, I immediately regretted the purchase. It looked HORRIBLE. But, mainly it was just dirty. Upon closer inspection, it just needs a full detail with a clay bar and polish, which is scheduled for Sunday. They're going to pull the seats and steam the carpets for me, and buff up everything. Should look like a brand new car, for the most part. I'm a little upset with the dealership that did the PPI. They said there was nothing wrong with the paint... but clearly, there is. There's a significant scratch on the front bumper that will HAVE to be repainted. There's also a significant door ding on the driver's side door. Also some minor door dings on the driver quarterpanel, but they can be taken out with paintless dent removal. The hood has rock chips ALL OVER the place. It needs to be repainted. But, I think I'm going to slap on a CF hood, because it's about the same price. All the other scratches should buff out. On to the pics. http://i247.photobucket.com/albums/g...lock99/252.jpg http://i247.photobucket.com/albums/g...lock99/253.jpg http://i247.photobucket.com/albums/g...lock99/254.jpg http://i247.photobucket.com/albums/g...lock99/255.jpg http://i247.photobucket.com/albums/g...lock99/256.jpg Here's where it needs some work: Bad touch-up job and a significant door ding. http://i247.photobucket.com/albums/g...lock99/257.jpg Scratch that should definitely buff out. http://i247.photobucket.com/albums/g...lock99/258.jpg I was shocked at how clean it was under the hood, given the state in which it arrived. http://i247.photobucket.com/albums/g...lock99/259.jpg http://i247.photobucket.com/albums/g...lock99/260.jpg |
Are you from Barstow, CA?

Good choice for reliability, S2000's are one of the few (maybe the only?) Sports car that gets a 5 star reliability rating.

Are you planning on driving that car during the winter?

My only complaint is that the flywheel is REALLY heavy. Definitely replacing that bad boy when I get a new clutch. And it is pretty lifeless without VTEC. Much worse than the RSX that I had. |
looks like a chicks car, no offense

Nice ride Silock. I have a lot of respect for Hondas

I'm not sure how it is with the S2000 motors, but if it has a belt instead of a chain start putting some money back to get it changed. Shit is expensive. |

I don't give a shit, though. I'm already married and my wife loves it, so I have no one left to impress ROFL |

This one is an AP2, only goes to 8k in exchange for more torque on the low end. No turbo for me. Supercharger it is :) |

Really think twice about the CF hood on the NFR, it looks pretty rice without alot of other mods, even then it's hard to do tastefully. Also I'd be surprised if the clutch was going out...unless the last driver just couldn't drive stick. Mine lasted over 100K, when we pulled out the old one(to put in the carbon one) I asked my friend how bad it was because it wasn't holding great on the hill and he said it actually was in pretty good shape. But if you do replace the clutch be prepared for it to be really expensive. It's generally a PITA, mine was pretty easy but that's because the motor was out. Yea turbo's generally not a great idea because the reliability is terrible. SC is ok but not really my thing. Relibilty is decent but if you up output things start to break more hard core. Also bit about the clutch with the 04+ they put in a clutch delay valve. The reason to do this was to protect the rear end from people doing too many clutch dumps. This may also be the feel you don't like with the clutch grabbing. Dumping the clutch off the line is really not advised for the car. Things will break. Also one thing I would recommend getting done is a valve check. A check for cracked retainers it's what you would see if someone overreved. Better to catch it before it becomes a problem. Also check for valve tightness some of the 04 have shown a tendency for the valve seats to wear and tighten up over time. |

Nice. Hope it all works out!

Very nice car! I would have personally gone with a cooper rag top in that price range (think they are more though), but that is a nice car!

Nice Miata. Wait... has this joke already been said?

Clutch dumping is stupid. Never done that anyway. Causes too much wheel hop. Better 60 fts with a nice slip, anyway. I'd rather have a CF hood than repaint it. Its simply a matter of budget, and a cf hood is cheaper. |
