He adds depth to S and CB. Plus he was a fairly high draft pick for the current regime.

I think it's actually good.

He wasn't injured enough to be placed on IR or PUP, so they'll sneak him through waivers and add him to the practice squad. If that happens, I assume he'll end up on the active 53 at some point this season.

He's Haley's boy, so they just guaranteed his salary for the year

There isn't much difference between the guys that were cut and the guys who barely made it.

By most standard 3-4 rosters that's 1 too few DL, and 1 extra LB and DB. Offensively, 1 too few QB, 1 too few OL and 1 extra RB. less than a minute ago via web

I'm trying to figure out what he, Washington, and Lawrence have done to deserve a roster spot, other than be drafted by Pioli.

what the **** is the point of TWO fullbacks? Who else in this league carries TWO fullbacks (off the top of my head I can think of the Jets from watching Hard Knocks, but Tony Richardson IS Tony Richardson and that rookie FB they have just seems like the heir to the throne, our guys don't hold a candle to those two.)

5 roster spots for two fullbacks and three tight ends that all literally do the same ****ing thing; catch/drop Cassels check down passes. Do we really need 5 guys to clog up our roster like that?

Quinten Lawrence, Terrence Copper and Jake O'Connell those 3 still being on the team draws a face palm.

There will probably be a few more cuts and additions so we will get down to a normal amount of players at most positions.

Cassel's arm isn't really that weak... he just has zero accuracy on long balls.

Definitely a head-scratcher. Maybe the idea is to cut one of those guys after they sign another team's player (might be easier to sneak someone onto the practice squad after all the initial shuffling?)

Lot of people that I feel like are on the roster for the wrong reasons. Magee, Lawrence and O'Connell are the three I don't really get. Just cut the cord on 2009. Cut it the **** off.

If you list these guys...

Tim Castille, Mike Cox, Quinten Lawrence, Terrence Copper, Jake O'Connell, Travis Daniels, Donald Washington, Ricky Price, Reshad Langford, Jon McGraw.

It could be easily argued that they should have kept 3 of those guys tops.

I'm not sure who the 3rd is.

one could argue washington for two reasons: pioli drafted him in the fourth round, and he has the versatility factor (cornerback AND safety).

not an argument I'd make, but there ya go.

My point is why are they keeping 5 safeties?

If they like Langford and Washington guess what that means you cut Jon McGraw, no one needs 5 safeties, and Travis Daniels is basically a safety to, if you need a CB go sign one don't take these CB's and go yo play some CB and suck at it.

Because they can't find better linebackers and D-lineman.

They'll need a lot of safeties this year considering that opposing running backs with have at least a 12 yard head start before hitting the secondary.

Washington and McGraw are quality depth. Washington for potential, McGraw for leadership/special teams/plus, he's not a terrible backup. Copper is a guy I'd love to have on a deep roster, but maybe not the right guy for a rebuilding team--he's really phenomenal at special teams, so I somewhat understand keeping him there. And of course, one of the two fullbacks.

The rest, I can't understand. I'd rather have Daryl Harris.

But the fact he's a Pioli pick sure isn't hurting him right now.

I don't care so much about the 5 safeties thing because Washington can slide over to corner.

They also play special teams.

It's the ****ing O'Connell, Cox, Lawerence trio that has me furious.

That's what happens when you avoid the position like the ****ing plague in the first 4 rounds of the draft.

Yea let me tell you, you know what inspires confidence? Running a 3-4 where LB is an extremely important position and watching our team make no attempt to improve it.

My point is pick, if you like Washington and want McGraw to be a backup great, that means Price, Langford and Daniels don't make the team.

Colin Brown will be on the practice squad I'm sure. Which is awesome that your 5th round pick has to spend 2 years on the practice squad of a team that's line isn't all that great.
