Anthony Toribio
Height: 6-1 Weight: 315 Age: 25
Born: 3/1/1985 Miami , FL
College: Carson-Newman
Experience: 1st season
High School: Miami Central HS [FL]

-King- 09-05-2010 12:48 PM

6'1 315. Not bad.

CoMoChief 09-05-2010 12:48 PM

Well since Smith is really the only true NT we have on this team, and we run a 34, I dont see how this is a bad thing.

DT Anthony Toribio. He looked good last preseason, but I haven't noticed him much this preseason. With the healthy return of DE Justin Harrell, and drafting of DE Mike Neal and NT B.J. Raji in consecutive years, there is a lot of competition on a line that doesn't need quite as much depth since they've switched to a 3-4. He might end up on the practice squad.

DE Ron Talley. See Toribio above. Everything I said about Toribio applies to Talley. If I had to choose, it seems like Toribio is a little better at getting into the backfield.

I imagine we just saw him 3 days ago -- some nerd go and watch him.

Well he's kind of from the tree, he was signed as an undrafted free agent by Miami in 2008.

I hope he works out because we need NT help.

The Packers can begin signing players to their eight-man practice squad Sunday, and there will be at least a few familiar faces on it.

Agents for nose tackle Anthony Toribio, defensive end Ron Talley and running back Kregg Lumpkin all said the Packers told them that if their clients clear waivers, the team was interested in signing them.

At least we have young options now. Toribio. And we have Garrett Brown on Practice Squad.

Red Dawg 09-05-2010 01:02 PM

If Romey picked him he must be a bad ass.

bevischief 09-05-2010 01:19 PM

At least he is over 300 pounds... Hope he makes a difference...

Nse tackles don't really need to be a badass, they just need to be fat

RealSNR 09-05-2010 01:23 PM

I've got a friend who's a big Packers guy. Says we made a good claim. Really challenged BJ Raji in 2009 preseason.

I hope so. It can't be that hard to be better than Edwards. He can't even move ONE blocker.

okiedokieokoye 09-05-2010 04:14 PM

They cut Q. Lawrence for a spot.

We're playing Smith at DE.

I approve of this message, though there were other berries hanging lower on the turd tree.

milkman 09-05-2010 04:40 PM

Is this the only waiver wire claim that was made, or will we see more as the day progesses?

Mecca 09-05-2010 04:43 PM

I would seriously hope their's another DL and an OL in those claims...

Dave Lane 09-05-2010 05:18 PM

Considering the fact that the newly acquired NT has absolutely no stats in two full seasons, it might be safe to say that your friend doesn't watch or doesn't know anything about football.

Just a guess.

Because the Packers started Ryan Pickett and Raji was his backup at NT last year. This year it's much of the same. There's just no room for him to play on the roster. They're loaded. Even Justin Harrell is going to play at 5 tech this year.

But the guy can't get a tackle in 2 years? An assist?

Two years?

OTOH, he's a typical Pioli defensive lineman.

They all suck.

"Playing" in only one game in two years will lead to no stats, yes.

I'm not saying the guy is a world-beater. I know nothing about him. I'm just trying to figure out what my buddy saw in him.

Sweet Daddy Hate 09-05-2010 11:32 PM

Hey Dude, once again, no offense to you or your friend.

I just couldn't find a thing about the guy. Hopefully, he can play but after two years in the league, he hasn't even made a tackle.

BossChief 09-06-2010 02:17 AM

I would think that ROmeo would have to have spoken up about the guy if we signed him.

I trust him on DL eval.
