petegz28 10-09-2010 06:19 PM

I've got that feeling about the Colts game...

That feeling I haven't had in over a decade. The last time I can remember having this feeling was when we played the 49'rs with Steve Young as their QB. I remember talking with one of my Uncle's a week before that game and he said SF was going to beat us. I said not only are we going to win, we are going to kick the ever-loving shit of them.

I have that feeling about the game tomorrow. I know it's on the road. I know it's at Indy. I know Manning is the God of the NFL. I know Peyton has owned us in the past. For some reason, I don't think it matters.

I get chills on the back of my neck thinking about what we are going to do to the Colts. Manning is going to find himself shell-shocked at some point in the game. The Colts defense is going to want to quit after they see the cleat marks of Charles and Jones on the backs of their fellow defenders.

Peyton Manning, prepare to see red. A LOT OF IT!

ChiefaRoo 10-09-2010 06:25 PM

F*** yeah. I'm with you.

Time to begin the changing of the guard in the AFC

my fear is that Peyton Manning is the toughest QB to put pressure on. He will eat you alive if you blitz and our young secondary scares me a bit, but I still have a good feeling about it. But our running game vs their weak rushing D should balance out whatever Peyton does to us. But this time, I have a feeling they are gonna punt at least a couple of times.

And Pete gives us the kiss of death.

Direckshun 10-09-2010 06:48 PM

I'll say this: the stars have aligned for this game to be an upset.

We're 3-0 and riding a youthful tide of naive belief in our indestructibility. Having a very young team will do that.

We've had two weeks to prepare for this game. Our players, and Haley, are treating this game as their Super Bowl.

Their defensive weaknesses match our offensive strengths.

We have defensive and offensive coordinators who have bolstered their resumes on matchups like this.

Haley's amazing work ethic instilled on this team has given them a vastly superior health advantage.

All of this, however, is equalled out by Manning vs. our incredibly young secondary.

Equalled. But not bettered.

The question will be how will this Colts team come out after a tough loss in Jacksonville. Emotionally drained, and flat? Or incited by their franchise MVP into "kill mode"?

It's a fascinating question. And the answer is anybody's guess.

'Hamas' Jenkins 10-09-2010 06:50 PM

I'm taking all of my money out of the bank, I'm taking out a second mortgage, and I'm putting all that money on the Colts now.

tk13 10-09-2010 06:57 PM

Can't get too high, can't get too low. This is going to be a very difficult game to win. I am optimistic that we are going to be a prepared team tomorrow, which you haven't been able to say in previous years... but as long as Manning is on the other side you can't get too cocky.

ILChief 10-09-2010 07:11 PM

Control the clock and force turnovers. We can not allow it to turn into cassell vs Manning or we are beyond screwed

Thorpilian 10-09-2010 07:12 PM

I have the same feeling. I hope it is not my over exuberant homerism shining bright. But, I want to shove this game up every single sportscaster, spread analyst, and doubter of my CHIEFS derrier. Please fellars, lets show our CHIEFS are here. I don't care if we lose a couple of games after. I WANT THIS ONE! Shut these idiots up! Hali, Flowers, Dorsey(this is his game, watch) D.J., Mr. Comet, D-Bowe, and hopefully Cassel. Step Up! God bless the CHIEFS!

Good day to all.

DeezNutz 10-09-2010 07:14 PM

Manning < KC running game and D.

Gonzo 10-09-2010 07:20 PM

I have a feeling this game will go one of two ways.
Either we will be the talk of the NFL world come Monday or it will all come crashing down and we'll be nursing a hell of a depression-induced hangover.

I also think we will see about 3-5 gimmick plays tomorrow.

Nothing could go more our way than a suck team in press mode. I take nothing away from Peyton and his WR's. They are going to cut us, they are going to gash us, but they won't be able to stab us for the kill.

I keep having visions of DJ aboslutely plowing Garcon or Collie or whoever it is as they try to run their little crossing routes.

MahiMike 10-09-2010 07:33 PM

Can you give us the winning lottery numbers too?

petegz28 10-09-2010 07:34 PM

I know we have a different DC, but if you ask me I think Denver has better passing game over all than Indy. If you think back to last year in the last game, Denver moved the ball, the cut us, they gashed us with their passing game. But our defense rose to the occasion and shut it down when it mattered. DJ went absolutely apeshit that game.

I think we are going to see something similar.

And if our down 4 get pressure on Manning we are going to destroy the Colts.

They can gameplan for Jones. You can't gameplan for Charles. You can't game plan against elusivness. Granted Cleveland did a good job of it but they were a little extra motivated to stop Charles and as far as I am concered they have a much better defense than Indy.

I am so anxious about this game. A loss will not be devastating, but it's been a long time since I have felt the way I'm going to feel if we win. Man, I miss that feeling. Makes my whole week. Got a taste of it against SF, but this is the Colts, and a game that will likely have us cutting in on some of the Cowboys, and Brett Favre's air time. Lord knows I'm gonna miss whatever they would have said about them while they're talking about the Chiefs, but I'll just have to deal with it.

The Colts were 14-2 last season, Peyton was amazing, and he's not playing bad this year either. The Broncos have been throwing the ball well, but seriously, let's not carried away. I would much rather face Orton, and the Donks, than Peyton, and the Colts.

No doubt tomorrow will tell us a whole lot on where this team is going.

That being said I'd be happy with just a chance to win it in the end.

Succop from 53 ftw.

BossChief 10-09-2010 07:49 PM

This game will truly show how great this draft class was IMO.

Its too bad Sheffield couldn't make it.

petegz28 10-09-2010 07:53 PM

I think some of the intangibles line up in our favor:

Chiefs: something to prove, nothing to lose, everything to gain

Colts: eroding team pressing to prove they still "got it" with a lot to lose

Chiefs: energized, young team on the upswing

Colts: perennial dominant team on the downswing of the bellcurve

All good things must eventually come to an end. It's either going to be our winning streak on the season or the streak of dominance of the Colts

I'm gonna have a terrible time sleeping tonight.
I can't help, but look at this game through the eyes of yesterday.
Manning has owned this franchise. It's so hard to believe we'll go into their house and win this game, but... There's something improbable about this young football team.

From a matchup standpoint this game is winnable.
I believe we'll have a coaching advantage.
We should be able to control this game by running the football, but...

I still can't stop thinking about just how tough Manning is...
Even when dealing with pressure.

I'm also worried about Mathis/Freeney eating this Offensive Line alive.
I think we can neutralize them a bit with the run game and with maximum protection looks, but... Those guys are pretty damn scary.

It's gonna be a GREAT game. The most exciting game since we faced them last in the post-season. Only this time... I think we have a HELL of a shot to win it.

OnTheWarpath15 10-09-2010 08:56 PM

Well, I had that feeling about the game until Pete ****ed us.

LMAO

Seriously, this is the best chance we've possibly ever had to beat Manning in his house. Here's to taking advantage of Indy being bitten by the injury bug and coming home a winner.

Nzoner 10-09-2010 09:07 PM

To say I'm antsy is an understatement,I'm thinking I should've drank myself to sleep but didn't want to feel like shit tomorrow.Manning and his boys are 3rd on my list of most hated teams and tomorrow our team could exorcise a lot of demons for the franchise and the fans.

Like others I think our coordinators have got a great plan for this game, now here's to the guys executing it and getting us the biggest win in a long long time.

CrazyPhuD 10-09-2010 09:09 PM

my worthless take
this had better not be our superbowl

when we win
we will get no credit

it will be the colts decline

if we lose we are exposed as posers

I think our coaches and players can win this
but don't blow it out of proportion
it's one game, and an important one

remember if they win and go 13-3
we get them first round in the playoffs
wouldn't that be fun

I don't know where anyone gets the idea that Manning is tough.

The Patriots and Chargers have had success against Manning over the years primarily because they've been the only teams that consistently get pressure on Manning, and he doesn't like getting hit.

You get consistent pressure on Manning and he starts ot get rid of the ball early, before routes have a chance to progress.

He is not, and has never been a guy that will stand in the pocket until the last minute before releasing the ball.

When talking about tough QBs, Manning should never enter the conversation.
