Tailgating for Denver game Sunday
 

Anyone is welcome. F24 by the crosswalk. Dad will answer to papasmurf, and I will answer to luv. Our friends know we have visitors from online stop by from time to time, so feel free to come by. If not just to say hi, anyone is welcome to throw something on the grill. We'll share with you if you share with us. Just head to that spot and look for the Chiefs RV. You'll know it when you see it. I know that a few are already planning on joining us or at least stopping by. Anyone else?

I never go to tailgates, mostly because I usually go to games alone. I am actually going with someone else this week so I will more than likely stop by.

We drive three hours up, so we definitely get the most out of our time up there. I couldn't imagine not tailgating.

I usually go alone though, because I get too emotionally invested into the games and tend to freak out on the 3 hour ride home sometimes. I take my girlfriend to 1 game a year, usually one of the games where KC is favored by 9+. This year I accidentally took her to the Buffalo game, and came within an inch of a heart attack, but at least it ended okay.

This week I'm going with another Chiefs fan I know from college, what time is a good time to get there?

Gates open at 8:30. Food is typically ready by 10. Beverages are consumed prior to even getting in line at the gate at 7.

What do you guys normally make for food? I might just bring some of Ozark's smoked polish sausages since they cook up fast and I'm not going to be there until 10.

I wish I could join you guys....Sucks being so far away....

I know dad's making chili and taking his famous (to us) salsa. I'm not sure what Matt is bringing, although he did ask me what a friend of mine seasoned his steaks with one time he brought them up.People will probably bring the usual brats, burgers, and such.

Is there any suggestions as to something I should bring? I will probably try to get there around 9. I'm staying in a hotel so I'll probably have to pick something on the way there because I don't know if I'll have a fridge/freezer.

Cookies/chips. If we don't open them, we'll hav them for next time. :)

It's going to be 16 degrees the night before, the trunk of your car will double as a freezer.

That's one thing that's good about this time of the year, I can leave my pop and beer in the garage and it stays the perfect drinking temperature, and I don't have a drag a cooler to work with me every day.

I don't think so this time. I think we've already done that two or three times this year. We like to switch it up. I'm not 100% that it won't be there, because I'm not sure what Matt is doing. I'm doubting it, though.

I thought about it, but I'm worried about how long it will take to heat up a pan of it on the grill.

That's a long ****ing walk from where we're going to be...

One of our crew missed the Bills game due to being up north pheasant hunting. I'd never had it before. He had cut it up and wrapped bite size portions in bacon. YUM. There were quite a few people who had it and chicken. They would hand some out to people walking by saying, "Here. Have some grilled Cardinal."

*ahem* anyway...polish dogs it is then...

Next season I'm bringing back Horse Meat from Japan and cooking it for a Broncos Game. All protein and No fat. I've never seen or been to a CP tailgate, n00b welcome?

A couple of my buds and I are going, I will try to stop by and at least say hello!!

My wife gets to go to the game with a chick she teaches with :) for her, :( for me that I don't get to.

We went to the 49er game and it was the first time I tailgated. Was ok, but I never got the fire hot enough and the burgers took longer than they should have. I'd like to make it to another game soon and try again, and this time I will freaking LOAD the grill with red hot coals and insta grill those hunks of meat.

Not really on topic, so I'll add...have fun 'gatin folks, wish I could be there too.

How are you folks addressing the weather.

Layers, of course, but beer just doesn't go down as well when it's that cold. Anyone have some good early morning drinks to fight off 20 degree temps?

RV has a coffee pot. Will probably have a little something to put in it besides sugar this week. I've done hot chocolate with water in a kettle on the grill before, too.

You know where we're at. Should we save you a spot?

I'm debating on either Irish Coffee or Kahlua & Coffee. Or maybe both.

I was thinking Hot chocolate with some espresso and cinnamon schnaps.

But damn that's a fruity football drink.

Why can't hot beer taste good?

If you got room on your grill top, a stock pot with spiked cider works well.

Hot chocolate actually tastes very good with Kahlua.

Yeah, used one but didn't let the coals get white hot before I dumped them on the first load. The little tailgate grill I got didn't have holes ont he bottom to let the air flow from underneath so the heat I did have sputtered out. I started another chimney up and let it get hotter, but is was still too little too late. We had to scarf down the food in a hurry to get in to our seats for the game.

It was hot as hell in the chimney, and melted a circle in the asphalt of the parking lot. Next time I might bring an extra grate from my smoker, do the first chimney to get things going, and start a second right away, and then put the extra grate on the second chimney of coals when it is going good to get a really good sear on anything that could use it. The other grill will be great to cook things through and keep things warm, and the other will be perfect to get things done in a hurry.

I had free tickets but the dude renegged and is selling BOTH of them cause he needs money. Talk about a Friday afternoon kick in the ballz man.

just went to the Cardinals 49ers MNF game last week. They busted my chops for using a charcoal grill...in the desert. Had to put it out...:mad:

When it happened, I imagined: "This kind of shit doesnt happen at Arrowhead I bet"

At Arrowhead, they have big ass dumpsters designated specifically for dumping your coals into. That thing smelled wonderfully smokey and BBQy. And it was still hot as **** when I dumped my cold ashes into it after the game I went to.


EDIT: Sad thing is, it might have been better to cook over than the grill I actually cooked on.

I got spoiled last year having two Chiefs games right here in my back yard.

Well, my tailgate plans fizzled out, because a couple of them traveling from the south are worried about the cold at 9am.... so we're going to eat somewhere, then I'll try to stop by to say hi before we go wander the stadium & HoF.


Does the Gates by the stadium really not open until 11 on Sundays? That's what the website says, but I swear I've been there at 10 or 10:30 (maybe game days are an exception).

I bought 3 tickets with the Planet folks back before I took the job in Florida.

My son, along with my Brother and nephew from Springfield, Mo. are going to use the tickets and will be looking for a tailgate.

A buddy and I stopped by a couple years ago. Papasmurf and Luv are good people. Fun to party with.

We have decided to hit Harrah's Casino Breakfast Buffet and then head to the stadium for a few tailgate drinks.I'm assuming you both have my cell number still so give me a shout around 10:30 and I'll see if we can't find you.

I will be at Luv's tailgate pretty much the entire morning unless I decide to go in early to see the new stadium additions.

Well, with the exception of the Houston game, the Chiefs have won each time I have worn it this year. Still kicking myself for not wearing for the Indy, Denver and Oakland games. Of course, maybe I wasn't supposed to wear it for those games.
