Assuming we win, Foxboro or Heinz?
I'm not a coach or player, so fock off to anyone saying I may be looking past the first game, although I don't think anyone really would say this at this point.
Will you be rooting for the Colts or Jets on Saturday? We'll have our hands full with either Pittsburgh or New England. However, I kinda like the story line that would develop with our New England ties should we end up at Foxboro. |
As long as the Jets are alive, we have a chance to host the AFC Championship game.
Go Jets. |

If KC is fortunate enough to advance I'd much rather see them eliminated by NE because I have a friend who is a diehard Steeler fan and I would hear about it forever.
Yeah,I might not sound real confident in our team and I'm not,I'm extatic they are where they are but also believe they're a year or two away from being serious contenders in the tournament. Here's to me being wrong :toast: |
Since I don't think the Chiefs can beat either one, I prefer the Chiefs-Patriots storyline.
|
I'd rather watch the Pioli Bowl

Easy schedule, be damned! We're back in the hunt with a much improved team, still on the rise. I'm going to enjoy being back. So, it's hard for me to look beyond this game.
However,... for the sake of the thread... I'd rather play the Steelers than the Pats. Going to Foxboro would make a better story, and a win there would be about the best New Year's present I could imagine. Both teams will be tough. New England, though, might be impossible for our team to overcome. |
I say New England.
The Browns beat the Pats and the Chiefs beat the Browns. Seems pretty simple to me. |
I say the steelers. We beat them last year.
|
Pitt has dropped 3 at home this year, NE is undefeated. I'd rather go to Pitt.
|
Why, you little scamps.

I think NE would be a more favorable matchup. Their run D isn't as stout as Pitt IMO. Secondly we have inside info on the mind of their coach; though the same could be said of Belicheck knowing Crennel/Weis's coaching tendencies as well. I think the NE game would be also a more favorable of a road game because Cassel will be much more familar with Foxboro and what to prepare for up there. Just my $0.02 and that said let's beat Crackmore before we plan for week 2 of the playoffs. :thumb:
|
I voted Pittsburg just because NE is a tad harder to beat at home than the Steelers are, but now I think I was wrong.
I think our organization probably knows more about what the Patriots do than the Patriots know about what we do. Yeah both teams should know each other pretty well, but I think we get the nod for knowing them... course they probably still beat us, but every bit helps. |
I voted Pittsburgh because it would mean we have a shot at hosting the AFC Championship game. If there is no hope, what's the point?
|
I think we actually match up better with the Patriots. The Steelers were a few yards away from setting the NFL record for fewest rushing yards allowed this year. I'd rather take my chances with the Pats defense.
|
I say NE. If you want to be the best, you have to beat the best. And...yes it would provide a good storyline too.
But...let's win a game first. |

You lost me at "assuming we win"
|
If we lose to baltimore you are banned from chiefsplanet forever.
|
I voted Patriots. Obviously. :D
I was just realizing, if I can work it, I might get to see the Chiefs twice: two weeks from now in a playoff game, and next season when they come to Foxboro. :thumb: Hope some of you come out for either game! |

Tough pick, here. Now that I think about it, though, the one player that scares me more than any other from these two teams is Troy Polamalu. For that reason I'm now leaning NE.
|
I'm surprised there are so many votes for NE.
|
ANYONE but the Steelers.....I have an irrational hate for those bastards.
|
ok, how about YOU **** off?
|
I put a shit ton of money on the Colts (-2.5)...
what an easy ****ing bet |

Pitt is an enigma, really. They seem to be a solid team, they have a great record, they won with and without the Rapist, their O-line isn't as good but the Rapist balances that out with his scrambling, they can run, they can throw, they can defend, they're well coached.... And yet, with all that, they won some games with underwhelming and unimpressive scores. They started off by beating Atlanta in Heinz, but by 15-9. They beat Tennessee, but by 19-11. They crushed Tampa, then lost to Baltimore by a FG (no shame there). Beat the Browns handily (28-10) but then eked out a one-point win over Miami, lost to the Saints by 10, beat the unimpressive Bengals by 6, got beaten at home by the Pats by 13 in a game that wasn't that close. Bounced back by crushing Oakland, then got pushed to the brink by the woeful Bills (winning by 3). Eked out a 3-point win over the Ravens (very good) and blew out Cincy, then lost to the Jets before blowing out the woeful Panthers and Browns. |
my rule of thumb is to never bet against the Pats or the Colts...
so I'll hold off from wanting to play New England until the last possible moment... I'd rather face Indy @ Arrowhead for a chance to go to the Super Bowl in all honesty. |
NE. The Chiefs matchup better against NE, easily.

The only possibility of the AFC Championship in KC is against the Jets. |

I totally forgot WE ****ED OURSELVES IN THE ASSHOLE WHEN WE LOST TO OAKLAND |
I went to the Ravens/Pats playoff game last season. I've tried to block that memory. So if the Colts and Ravens win, I am NOT going to the Ravens/Pats playoff game.
If the Jets win (and, thus, it'll be Jets/Pats), I'll think about it. Probably 50/50. If the Colts and Chiefs win, I'm telling my wife we're forfeiting the show tickets we have for that night (some Broadway thing on tour) and buying Chiefs/Pats tickets. :thumb: |
We match up much better against New England than Pittsburgh.
Either one would be a long shot, but I'll take the Patsies. At least we would have a puncher's chance of winning a shootout. If it's a defensive struggle (which it would be... Pittsburgh is a VERY physical defense) we wouldn't last on the road |

Yardage-wise, New England looks bad; the Patriots gave up 90 more yards per game (Pitt ranks 2nd with 276, Pats rank 25th with 366). But in PPG the Steelers were 1st (14.5) and the Pats were 8th (19.6). Not to mention the Patriots' D improved greatly as the season went on. Points given up, by week and team: 1: 24 (Cincy) 2: 28 (NYJ) 3: 30 (Buffalo) 4: 14 (Miami) 5: bye 6: 20 (Baltimore) 7: 20 (SD) 8: 18 (Minn) 9: 34 (Cleveland) 10: 26 (Pitt) 11: 28 (Indy) 12: 24 (Detroit) 13: 3 (NYJ) 14: 7 (Chicago) 15: 27 (GB) 16: 3 (Buffalo) 17: 7 (Miami) Now, granted, the last two teams are pretty bad and had packed it in. But it does say something that, in the first 11 games, the Pats couldn't hold ANYONE under 14 points, and in 4 of the last 5 games they held teams to single-digits. Just saying, the Pats' D may no longer be as bad as they look statistically. (The O, on the other hand, greatly outshines another O the Chiefs might face.) The Pats, IIRC, fielded the youngest defense in the league. (And keep in mind they played the last 4 games without Brandon Spikes, who makes them better.) Now that they've bought into what the coaches are selling, and have more game-speed experience, they're better than their numbers. |
