Troy Polamalu defensive POTY
A big shout out to CeePee for exchanging picks with the Steelers, so they could draft him...and we could draft Larry Johnson. I know this as been covered ad nauseam...but it does, if fact, still make me nauseous.
|
Congrats to Clay Matt....
hey, what the **** is this now.... |
T. P has peaked, he will decline over the rest of his career, best years behind him.Was kinda shocked as everybody is in "awe" of his coverage, that he has only returned 2 INT for T.D's. Kinda surprised by that. F@^K him and his hair.
|
I havent liked him ever since i saw the video of him nailing the punt returner after he called fair catch in college.
|
That is reerunation at its finest.
Can the NFL ever accurately pick these awards? I don't think they're capable. |
Ed reed should have won it imo
|
It's the hair that wins him the awards. And his smile. Like a million bucks.
|
Well deserved, IMO.
|
Although The Associated Press never officially announced it, they said it with their eyes.

The ****?!?
I figured it had to be Matthews and if it wasn't him, it had to be Peppers. But Troy Polumalu's injured ass wasn't even on the radar. He was pretty average this year and nowhere near the playmaker he's been in the past. This was a really bad selection, IMO. |

There were no secondary players that deserved it this year, IMO. It was between Matthews and Peppers. |
Shouldve been matt cassel. He improved 13 teams defenses this year.
|
I can't say I watched all the Steelers games, but I don't recall Polamalu standing out at any time this season.
Peppers? I thought Peppers was underachieving all year? |
Quote:
Urlacher came back and everything, but Peppers was dominant in several games this year. Most notably that Eagles game towards the end of the season. That game pulled them apart from Green Bay and they won the division |
Matthews easily should have won this. Post-season awards have become such a joke. Hell even Tamba deserved to win it over Polamalu.
|
it's like chiefsplanet. polamalu and matthews get lots of votes because people think they're women.

He was strong all season and pretty much controlled a few games this season. The Bears were under the radar because they weren't supposed to do anything, so Peppers wasn't getting a lot of pub. But he was as good to start the season as he was to end it. He was the only real contender apart from Mathews. |

Ya, Palamalu didn't have a super great year like in the past. Definately should have been Mathews or Peppers or even....Hali before Palamalu. Maybe this is a make up DPOTY, has he won it before?

Yep, Matthews.

Polamalu says he didn’t deserve award
Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on January 31, 2011, 10:40 PM EST Green Bay Packers linebacker Matthews talks to the media during his first news conference since arriving for Super Bowl XLV at the team hotel in Irving Steelers safety Troy Polamalu and Packers linebacker Clay Matthews took to Twitter Monday night in a battle to see who could be classier. Polamalu, who won the Defensive Player of the Year award Monday (we’re sure), said he didn’t deserve the honor. “Thanks for the congrats. @jharrison9292 (James Harrsion), @ClayMatthews52, Ed Reed, Julius Peppers way more deserving!” Heck, Polamalu isn’t sure anyone deserves it: “Individual awards only have a place in golf and bowling. Too many parts to single out one player in the world greatest TEAM sport!” Polamalu wrote. Those comments are consistent with everything we’ve every heard from Polamalu. In world of artificial media images, he truly seems like the genuine article. Not to be out-done, Matthews congratulated his fellow former USC Trojan on edging him out for the award. “Congrats to [Troy Polamalu] on NFL DPOY. Well deserved . . . Class act and outstanding player. #FightOn.” |
Wow. That's a pure reputation pick. I wouldn't have had him in the top 10 this year.
|
he isn't even as good as ed reed

As far as I'm concerned, TP could have been injured all season long as with that goal-line stand leaping sack wins the POTY award. That was just sick. Unbelievably well-timed play on his part. A better QB would have clowned him but that point is moot.

Has there ever been a tougher player with a more girly voice?
Dude shouldnt speak in any commercials.....ever. |
Tough to differentiate the impact guys like Polamalu, Revis, Ngata and Matthews have on their teams.
