Shoveling snow and drifts

I thought I would get round one of shoveling out of the way so I thought I would pose this question for the board. The wind is coming out of the north and I can only shovel snow to the north or the south since my driveway runs east/west; should I shovel the snow to the north or the south to prevent really big drifts from forming on my driveway?

Thanks,

Fat E

Is this a trick question?

mlyonsd 02-01-2011 03:28 PM

Probably towards kstater's house.

Bowser 02-01-2011 03:28 PM

You're gonna need one of these by the time it stops falling....

Best answer:

Let the sun melt it away later. Shovel enough to have a path to get out of your house. Anything more is just showing off.

Bugeater 02-01-2011 03:29 PM

South. A large pile to the north will break the wind, causing any snow that it is carrying to fall right into your driveway.

Assuming he lives in KC, that would be the correct answer.

cookster50 02-01-2011 03:31 PM

Thank you. That is what I thought, but I was wondering if shoveling it to the south would cause a buildup making the snow fall behind the pile rather than over it.

Mr. Laz 02-01-2011 03:33 PM

wait to shovel

Hailchief 02-01-2011 03:35 PM

Could you repeat the question please!!

It will, but not to the degree shoveling the pile to the north would.

bevischief 02-01-2011 03:45 PM

Just keep peeing on it all night.

Man I've been thinking this shit for a while. How about flame thrower snow plows? Think about it....I don't get why they can't just attach giant flame throwers to the front of snow plows. I mean overall it may cost a bit more financially to do so, but it would make things a hell of a lot easier...and then smaller ones could be given out to all the residents so that they can clear their driveways and sidewalks with ease also. How has no one thought of this? :D

It is, for about the first three storms, then it's just another pain in the ass.

If it was closer, I would be on it. I knocked out the whole neighborhood last week.

I gave up on shoveling. I can't go anywhere anyway so why worry about it?
