On to what I think about the show.
Seems cool. I like mysteries. I don't get why Rubicon had to go and this show gets to come, but I bet the same thing will happen to it. Plus this seems like a 1 season story anyways. |

(I do that a lot, things are often jumbled between my brain and my fingers) Not sure why anybody would care, but there it is. |
It looks cool, but the whole time I'm thinking it's that wife chick from Big Love (which I completely haven't watched this season) dressed up as a cop. Weird. And then there's the asshole kid from Tower Prep, which probably nobody but me has seen.

Gotta love the stolen Sunshine music.

Man, this looks good. AMC is doing work. It may not be Mad Men good, but I imagine it will be worth the watch.
|
It looks like Twin Peaks minus the crazy.

Just a reminder, kicks off tonight.

Here's what I was looking for [God there are a lot of threads with Killing in them]. Mods, feel free to merge my FP thread if you wish.
Again, as per my FP thread, anyone seen the Danish original? Be interesting to get insights on how this one measures up. |

Looking through the preview on AICN, the reviews for it (the US version) are outstanding.
Haven't seen the original. |

Its a shame really.....these are the types of shows the big Networks used to take chances on before they got reality obsessed..
The previews make this appear a little like Twin Peaks......cant believe that show was 20 years ago......if made today, it would be on HBO, FX or AMC. |

I couldn't even make it through the first 10 minutes of the first episode of Twin Peaks. Is it something I should give a chance?

The rest of the episodes were more conventional, until you got to Agent Cooper's famous dream sequence. The second season descended into ridiculous melodrama. I'd suggest giving the pilot another try with your expectations set for quirky. If it finally lands with you, try the rest of the first season. Or maybe acclimatize yourself to Lynch with some Blue Velvet, Wild at Heart, and Mullholland Drive, first. |

Wacted it last night. I really enjoyed it. It took about 20 or 30 minutes to get going, but after that i was fully invested in the mystery. Hopefully the payoff is worth it.
|
In that preview, when the dude uncovers the girl at the scuzzy guy's house, is that the guy's wife? I couldn't tell.

Really liked the first episode. Will definately continue to watch.

My money is on the black teacher.

Loving this show. AMC=win

Not sure what that was about...maybe he's part of something bigger like a FED or something. Holder is my favorite though, he's got that Sawyer [Lost] thing goin on and it works well in the northwest. Linden is really good too, really like this show so far. |
It seems odd that in the entire Seattle PD Homicide department, she's the only one who can handle this case. It's not like in Turner and Hooch where Turner was the only detective the department had.

Suspects:
1) Councilman's girlfriend/advisor 2) Dad's employee |

I'm still waiting for the show to distinguish itself though. It's not really any different than any other cop show. They're trying way to hard to make people care about the mystery. It's like they're forcing what came naturally with "who killed Laura Palmer?" Also, the show makes me wanna watch The X-Files again. I mean, serious redhead, goofy, unconventional partner thrust together. And when she says his name (Holder) it sounds an awful lot like Mulder. But, yeah. I'll keep watching. The end of the third episode was great. Really nice hook. |

yea, thats a cliched, contrived gimmick....i guess i can accept a few of those if the rest of the show is as solid as its been. The thing im starting to wonder about is the politician (Billy Campbell). He obviously has something to do with the overall mystery, because if he didnt, why would they spend so much time with his character? That would be alot of time to waste on a character who isnt central to the murder. |
Could the friend have put on Rosie's wig and witch outfit in the basement? The video didn't really show her face.

Yea, I was like...where is it. Now with the "It's not what you think" line by the kid then it's probably that it's not her and the girl was into it...
|
Twin Peaks, X Files, let's not forget the legacy of Murder One.
Season long single murder mystery. |
I've skipped through this thread but i dvred the 1st 2 episodes...worth watching so far?
|
They're starting to do comic book style crossovers on AMC, so Rosie is actually a zombie meth dealer who works at an ad agency and the butterfly necklace will be retconned into a four leaf clover in a reference that precisely 12 people in the world will understand.
|
In related news, Mad Men season 5 has been pushed back to 2012. FFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUU....

slow burn simmer for 50 minutes...then a big reveal at the end with a suspect.....then clear the suspect in the next episode....wash, rinse repeat.... Still well done though.... |

I didn't care for this particular episode and hope that the show doesn't use the same template. I mean, hey, we've got a clear suspect! Only, he'll be exonerated (for a while) in the next episode (after 50 or so minutes), because we've got a new clear suspect!

That teacher......do not like that teacher.

it's nothing ground breaking, but so far I like it...i'm a sucker for slow, i guess
best thing about it, by far, imo, is Joel Kinnaman....I kind of already don't care about the murdered girls family, they're just emotional fodder thrown in for 'weight'... it also seemed not accidental that the premiere episode's music had a faint but noticeable Twin Peaks chord in it... |

And I actually didn't like tying the dad in with organized crime out of the blue. They tease none of that in the previous episodes, tease no connection of any kind, and then suddenly he has a house he's going to spring on his family and he's somehow tied in crime? Sudden left turn makes no sense. |
Quote:
Going to be interesting to see how they tie everything in....the Mayor race, the grieving family with the crime ties, the teacher who played ball at the politicians campaign stop. Oh, and something is telling me that the scuzzy cop dude is a leak of some sort...remember he had the mystery phone conversation last week where he uttered something like "Shes too smart for that" then quickly hung up when the female cop rolled up. |
Quote:
|
I thought something was up with the scuzzy cop dude from the very first episode. The way he was hitting on the high school girls for info just set off alarm bells for some reason. But that's probably a red herring.

Finally watched the latest episode. I agree with the majority here. The formula is wearing. I was happy to see the fiance show up and surprise the lead, though. He was becoming way too obvious and stereotypical after the previous episodes.
The show feels fairly obvious to me right now. The biggest twists have all been things that I've seen coming. And I know a lot of you have seen them coming as well, because you've commented on them in advance. But I like the characters and I'm still curious enough to keep watching. It's a really well made show. Just hope, like most of you, that they can find a way to mix things up and crank up the surprises. |
I'm so used to see Callum Keith Rennie as a villain that I can't get away from the idea that he's somehow involved.
(That's the fiance) |
