He doesn't have to like it..... NFLPA only needs 51% to pass.

I'll post this from the article, which was posted at 12:28 PM Eastern...

NFLPA To Vote Today
Source: There will be a vote on a proposed deal that would include a new CBA on Wednesday

They said on Mike & Mike this morning the owners will have the votes to ratify so the NFLPA vote is key.

Are all owners required to be at the meeting tomorrow in Alanta to vote? I asking this because obviously NE owner Robert Kraft won't be there now (he has more important matters to attend to now as his wife died this morning).

Actually, there's only one lawsuit, which is the Brady lawsuit, and that involves 10 players. While it is a bit of a problem, all that has to happen is that the 10 players involed in the lawsuits have to approve the deal for it to be approved for the players, according to the owners anyway.

I know this is a repost but read toward the end of the article. Kraft's wife death may have an impact on when things get done because Kraft is on the Labor Committee. I say the owners vote Mon. and the lockout ends @ 12:01 EDT on Tuesday.

Quote:

NFL players and owners seem to be inching ever closer to a new collective bargaining agreement even as new potholes seem to constantly threaten to derail a process which might be concluded at the league meetings Thursday and Friday.

"A finalized document is expected to be presented to the players and owners on Wednesday," said NFL Network correspondent Albert Breer late Tuesday night on NFL Total Access.

"This would begin by going to the players' executive committee and to the NFL's labor committee. They would work out -- together -- any remaining issues, that'd be done likely by conference call. Then when that's done, the document would be ready to go to a vote. Now of course some of those issues still need to be worked out, but the legal work by the lawyers and staff that's been going on for the last four weeks is now done. And it looks like this is gonna be in the hands of the players and owners and (union executive director) DeMaurice Smith and (NFL Commissioner) Roger Goodell.

"It sets into motion that timeline which could lead to a player vote on Wednesday -- all 32 player reps will be in Washington, D.C., for that. It could lead to an owner vote on Thursday. And optimistically, it could quite possibly lead to that labor seminar late on Thursday and on Friday talking about the league rules going forward and how the clubs are gonna handle the possible end of the lockout."

Settlements of the players' antitrust suit and the case where owners were found to have negotiated their last TV deal in bad faith (creating their own lockout fund at the expense of maximizing revenue that could be enjoyed by players) likely also need resolution before a new deal can be put in place.

"Every day the last two years has been a long day," Smith said Tuesday, knowing the NFLPA also has to officially recertify to keep the ball rolling toward a new CBA.

The player reps are expected to meet this morning to pore over the final document and presumably approve it, vote to reconstitute the NFLPA and make a recommendation to the plaintiffs in the antitrust suit.

People were more irritated with his lack of comprehension skills than whether he was "right" or "wrong" about the vote itself. I don't think it surprises anyone to see another delay in the process after it's been delayed repeatedly for 5 months now.
