wow. This could be a good time for the Texans to finally break through in that division.

kcxiv 09-04-2011 06:21 PM

beginning of the end for the Colts run. It lasted a long ass time though.

Sooo glad I didn't draft him, or any Colts receivers or TEs. I'm set, ROFL.

Proof of why freaking out about the future schedule is a mistake.

milkman 09-04-2011 06:32 PM

Too bad.

I'm going on record to say that, should the Colts have to go with Collins, they'll be as bad as every one thinks they are without Manning until Curtis Painter takes over, after which they will be a .500 team the rest of the way.

Maybe I should join that stat thing Kyle is pimping and make that my first prediction.

You like Painter? Maybe I am unfairly judging him in that game against the Jets. Rough time to come in, but he looked awful.

Hootie 09-04-2011 06:34 PM

hope he is out for the season and the Colts go 0-16...thus ending the Manning/Brady argument once and for all.

Hootie 09-04-2011 06:35 PM

or maybe Painter will lead them to an 11-5 season and we'll trade our 7th overall pick for him in 2012.

Okie_Apparition 09-04-2011 06:37 PM

Peyton's neck could only support that aircraft carrier of a forehead for so long. Dude's aged 10 years in 6months

I don't like Painter, but I also don't believe he's as bad as many think he is.

He's solid scrub, and solid scrubs can win you some games.

Everyone thought the Pats were ****ed when Brady went down.

Pats fans thought Cassel was sheer unadulterated shit.

Backups who never see any acton except preseason are rarely as bad as most think.

stonedstooge 09-04-2011 06:39 PM

Didn't know there was such a thing as a second procedure. After my first one, I was told that due to scar tissue, there wasn't anything else that could be done, assuming he had disc problems like I had. He may be done

It's also very curious because they took him off PUP a week ago. He was very limited in practice too. What happened between now and then...

Seriously. Its almost amazing that neck didn't give out earlier.

Peyton is one of my favorite players in the league. About as proffesional as you can be, and just fun to watch if you like seeing a guy study all week and just go to work on Sunday. Plus he actually is an athlete with a sense of timing. His commercials have always been decent.

@SI_PeterKing: Colts president Bill Polian to me tonight on reports Peyton needs second neck surgery: "I don't know anything about that. I honestly don't."

Don't know a whole lot about him, just know that he reported a bunch of FA signings before the national media and that Adam Schefter gave him a shoutout.

You shouldn't take everything he says to the bank but he gets a lot of stuff right.

He's had a few misses too, but yeah.

Too early to declare him out for the year though, as he should be a candidate for the PUP list.

If Manning has cervical fusion I would exspect it to be the end of his NFL days. The dude must have one hell of an agent to get his contract renewed then end his career. I find it hard to imagine he had no knowledge of upcoming surgery.

durtyrute 09-04-2011 08:05 PM

I hope he doesn't go through the surgery, sit out for however long, then come back and get is neck broken by some big 325lb jabbawocky and have to retire because of it. I'm no peyton fan but not like that.....not like that

Manning has not played yet under his new contract ... not sure he's even gotten that money yet. Surely he would have to pass a physical before getting the new money.

Yep, a week ago, which is what makes this rumor very bizarre. It's not like he's done anything to re-aggravate it... if they knew a 2nd procedure was coming they wouldn't have pulled him off the PUP.

Yeah, but I said "rarely" and with the jump shot and shotput mechanics, this is very likely one of those rare cases where the backup is as bad as perceived.
