Arrowhead Stadium To Host Special 9/11 Tributes For 2011 Home Opener

http://www.kcchiefs.com/news/article...e-fa5699c5bc93

Can't remember if we can post the entire article here or not so there is the link.

Definitely looking forward to this.

IF this is a repost, tough crap.

BigRock 09-07-2011 01:44 AM

We played the Giants right after 9/11. We played the Jets on 9/11 in 2005. And now we're playing another NY team on the ten year anniversary of 9/11.

That's kinda weird.

NJChiefsFan 09-07-2011 02:04 AM

I went to the Jets Chiefs game in the Meadowlands on 11-11-01 and after they announced what Arrowhead did that day the entire stadium gave a huge ovation.

They want you there 20 minutes early so when they pan the crowd prior to kickoff it don't look like a ghost town

Bearcat 09-07-2011 10:19 AM

They have the entire day covered, with a tribute in Pittsburgh at noon, DC at 3, and NYC on SNF. Got tickets last week.... looking forward to it.

Or all of the items mentioned in the article are happening prior to the National Anthem.

Sadly, it may look that way in the 2nd quarter.

Just went to Ticketmaster and you can still buy pairs in the lower level, and it appears the upper level is going to be patchy.

I put in a request for 8 tickets in the upper deck, and got Section 314, Row 3.

Not a good sign.

OnTheWarpath15 09-07-2011 11:03 AM

Ugh.

Have a group of 14?

You can sit in the upper deck, Row 23 on the 20 yard line.

They have a shit-ton of tickets to sell, or this is going to be embarrassing.

I was there. But the thing was, not a damn thing really happened beforehand. I was in my seat early expecting something, but everything was delayed to the point that I could have come in exactly when kickoff was supposed to start, and I wouldn't have missed anything. There was no reason to come in any earlier than normal kickoff time. They do this constantly, and I'm not falling for it anymore.

Not excusing them, because it does seem to be habitual, but I think they were delaying MNF last year hoping the Jets/Ravens game would end so the ESPN audience could see the intro and beginning of the game.

IIRC, ESPN switched to our game a few minutes into game action.

Sunday, the entire league is going to (or should be) synchronized to see the DeNiro piece at the same time.

Wow, I did a search for 10 yesterday and came up with row 23... didn't notice you could still buy 8 together in the 3rd row.

If the schedule wasn't so good, I probably would have opted for 2-3 games, but I'm going to 6.... it's disappointing, but at the same time I don't really blame people for not wanting to spend so much on tickets and parking.

It also doesn't help that parking went up roughly 18.5% ($5) for cars/trucks/SUVs.

Yeah, that's the biggest annoyance for me.... $10, fine. $20 is stretching it, but half the fun in tailgating, so whatever. It could easily be $30+ in the next year or two.

Maybe we should have an Official Carpool to Arrowhead Thread. :hmmm:

How many people can you fit in that RV, and where can we meet you? :D

A lot of people were greatly affected by that attack. Especially if you also have family fighting overseas. There probably won't be many dry eyes at arrowhead. It is also why I feel our team will rise to their challange and be very fired up at our house. Derrick Thomas use to always get so fired up from the flyovers cause of his dad.

It is also why piece of shit posters like Frankie piss me off with anti American pro terrorist crap and saying the US bears responsibility for 9-11.

booyaf2 09-07-2011 01:09 PM

We just "cab" out from the casino anymore. We can pay a guy $15 to haul us out there, drop us off right at the stadium with our styrofoam cooler. We drink, mingle around the tailgating, throw the cooler in the trash, walk in, and for another $15 they'll pick us up where they dropped us off. An additional $10 out of pocket, but I don't have to worry about traffic, Dui, and don't have to walk from BFE to and from my seat.

Dr. Gigglepants 09-07-2011 01:18 PM

Are they loaded with bombs when they do the flyover? Can't wait for the flyover goosebumps.

PunkinDrublic 09-07-2011 01:24 PM

I don't get people who bitch about the price of parking at arrowhead. If you don't mind walking a little bit you can always find an off site spot for $10 bucks. People pay upwards of $50 and higher at jerryworld and they can't tailgate for shit.

I remember how flat we came out against the Giants. You could tell we just mailed it in to the Giants.

I'll be in NYC at a sportsbar watching the Chiefs/Bills. That is going to be a bit strange.

Pioli needs to do the right thing and let Americanzi get a throw in at some point. Maybe let him do a Statue of Liberty or something if you're worried Richardson might give up a sack.

I actually talked to dad about this today. I told him that people could meet us down at our usual stop at the QT in Belton, then we could charge them like $5 each to ride in the rest of the way. He thought it might be too much of a hassle with getting everyone AND their coolers and such on board. Plus, we'd have to stop on the way home, which we only do occasionally. Also, he didn't know how many people would be considered too many. He said he'd talk to the other two co-owners about the idea though to see what they think.

Love my Chiefs. Season Tickets for years.

Half time could not be worse on any given Sunday. It sucks. Almost as bad as the bad music through a great sound system.

Doesn't it being the 10 year of 9/11 trump all that. No way anyone, even a diehard Chiefs fan, shouldn't say 'brave' this weekend.

i heard "Chiefs" much louder over "Brave" back in 2005, the last Spet. 11th game. Will be interesting to see which one is louder this time.

01 was all "Brave" though right, I would imagine with all the attention coming towards it "Brave" wins out. Especially from the singer, which was what my real point was.

I don't believe it's at all a bad thing to yell "CHIEFS" at the end of the anthem, at a Chiefs game. I have had many friends, and family members serve in the armed forces(several currently), so don't give that "disrespectful" bullshit.

I love it under normal circumstances. Just think this game is a little different. Again, I wasn't refering to the crowd, but to the singer, when I said they should say brave on Sunday. Nobody said anything about it being disrespectful.

I agree, the singer saying it, or people saying it at Royals games, Sporting KC games, any other sporting event not involving the Chiefs is just plain corny.
