Pasta Little Brioni 12-21-2011 10:54 PM

Not a hold, perfectly legal/contrarian douche

NJChiefsFan 12-21-2011 10:56 PM

The sad thing is you don't even need it slowed down. Every Chiefs game you see Tamba get attacked. His style actually makes the hold look worse, so I can not understand why it still doesn't get called.

What is it about his style that has Olinemen getting their hands up near his face so much? His head is always snapping back and half the time it looks like the OL hands are under his facemask.

He goes low nearly every time, but doesn't get low enough. This is according to Bill Maas on Nick Wright's show on Monday night. The opposing teams go to the refs before the game and tell them to look out for this move he does, but the linemen supposedly keep good position on him, so the refs don't call it.

Sounds shitty to me, but he said he knew from experience that this happens.

Since holds are the topic du jour, how about a gif of "obvious end zone, should have been safety" hold?

Those don't even need to be catches every time. The defense just needs to know that our QB and WR's are capable of doing that. That was obviously not a threat with Cassel back there. Even a positive person was ready to do a face-palm before Matt released the ball on a deep throw.

YES!

I was going to say this when I posted the gif, but forgot. The fact that Baldy is drawing two guys deep is going to be huge for our offense going forward.

Would it be the GMs job to send to the league these kinds of farce for the football game? To get an explanation & understanding of why they keep doing it. Then for the league to take action that it doesn't become this epic of fail for the officiating embarassments.

Would a GM of Pioli stature (sarcasm) have any kind of pull to get this fixed?

Cracks me up they will call a hold on the D when they get a little bit of jersey on a WR but not when they are getting choked from behind on their way to the QB.

God I love this league.

If Moeaki can get and stay healthy, he is gonna eat the underneath coverage alive with these receivers.

With a legit QB and a healthy Moeaki, this offense will be one of the top units in the whole league.

I'm a bit concerned with this that he has such a injury prone history. I think he is great and all, but he don't do us any good missing games from injuries. Hope he comes back strong & no more of the injury bug for him.

It took a good 6 years but we actually executed like 3 screens (none to McCluster lol) and I was shocked...plain shocked.

I remember in the Vermeil days where Priest and Trent made those things work 4-5 times a game beautifully...haven't seen one executed since...amazing how well Orton sold those babies!

His 300-yard winner came against the Titans last year.

That was where I thought he had actually turned a corner...he was great in that game.

He's taken massive dumps all over Arrowhead since.

Yeah, that 75 yard touchdown to Bowe was so Anti-Cassel that it made me want to believe.

It's too bad the real Mark Castle had to show up in the following two games.

BossChief 12-22-2011 02:36 AM

His number of starts (in relation to most really good quarterbacks of the past as a point of when a corner is turned in their careers) and his statistical improvement seemed to make the thought of him having turned a corner, somewhat legit at the time.

Oakland and Baltimore put that to rest really quickly and it never got better again.

Dude should be gone, but I have little doubt that he will be back next year.

There are two things that I attribute to the success Matt Cassel had in 'Old Kansas City'.

One he would scramble around and get yards to extend drives.

Two, the fear of going to the sidelines to face Bill Belichick.

I hate comparing anything to Madden, but I was playing last night and at the end of a 2-yard run, the game version of Jones celebrated and stomped around on the field. Madden "realism" is getting scary good.

On the back end of this play (seem from the other angle), Baldwin's arm gets hacked by the DB. I think it was Tramon Williams. It was a nice job of tracking by JB, but Williams makes an even better "blind" play on the ball.

Still my favorite play of the last decade was that goal line play where T-Rich just went down the entire line blocking player after player, until he reaches the corner, blocks two guys with his body/left hand [back the endzone] and reached out with his right and blocked the last guy standing so Priest could just walk into the endzone.
