Geep Chryst - OC candidate

Chiefs want to interview 49ers QB coach Geep Chryst for the OC

MVChiefFan 01-14-2012 06:58 PM

I guess we're bypassing Tebow and going straight to the source!

milkman 01-14-2012 07:01 PM

Mac has been around for some time, and has sources throughout the NFL.

I believe he and Frank worked together for a while. He definitely has sources, yes.

Aren't you the one who said you were friends with Zach Millers brother and that he wanted to sign here?

yup

dallaschiefsfan 01-14-2012 07:33 PM

If he's the guy they want, this is terrible news. They see what he did with Smith and are under the illusion (and delusion) that he can do it again. Which confirms my worst fears that Cassel is non-negotiable as the starter.

Yup but the Chefs wouldn't pony up the coin.

Correct. NFLscoop.com had the breaking news thanks to Frank on Gunthers termination.

NFL Scoop was also putting out headline after headline about the Chiefs making a serious push to trade for Corey Dillon back in the early 2000's.

NFL Scoop was a tabloid website... throw a bunch of headlines out there and hope a few of them stick.

Brock 01-14-2012 07:40 PM

Nice to have people posting here who really know people instead of the twitter twit who thinks he gets straight info that way.

You think we should have signed Zach Miller to the kind of deal he signed with Seattle?

Marty Mac Ver 2.0 01-14-2012 07:45 PM

Far from it. Nfltalk.com under John Taylor ran those tabloid lines. We had a cool thing going. Just the dotcom bubble burst in 2001 caught us.

Wasn't aware they gave him a huge contract. If Pioli would have spent any cash this off season we'd be back to back division champs for the first time ever.

$7 million a year for 5 years. I would much rather spend that money elsewhere (locking up Carr, Bowe, the guys we already have, anywhere besides a second TE.)

You can lock up Bowe & Carr and still have plenty of money left over. You can't rely on Moaki so signing Miller wouldn't have been a dumb signing at all.

JoeyChuckles 01-14-2012 07:53 PM

Why did this leak right as the game was ending?

milkman 01-14-2012 07:53 PM

I agree with Bo's Pelini here.

We needed a far more talented second TE than we had on the roster, and the money that was paid to Miller wasn't cap busting, especially for this team.

Would you target Finley this off season if he becomes a free agent?

Yeah, I get it. I would just much rather take that money and spend it somewhere else. Especially when TEs like Graham, Gronk, Hernandez, Pitta, Dixon, etc, etc, are available for pretty cheap in every draft.

YES.

I would give him about anything he wanted on the open market. I just don't think Miller is worth $7 million a year, but I would make Finley a rich man.

That's fine but the question should be why wasn't that money spent anywhere? If we would have signed James Sanders I believe this team is playing New England tonight.

I'd be a little concerned about how inconsistent his hands were this season.

Marty Mac Ver 2.0 01-14-2012 08:08 PM

Here is a nice little bio on Chryst when he was in Carolina. Again, guys this is just an interview.

If true, then they are forgetting that Smith was a #1 overall draft pick, which means he was good at the QB position once he left high school and has some talent to actually work with.

Oh, hey Marty.

Thanks for the info.

Fritz88 01-14-2012 08:51 PM

I said it earlier. 9ers candidates were intriguing.

I am all for him an No, not because of Cassel.

So no matter what, the interview will happen next week? If 49ers lose, their coaches can be interviewed anytime, but if they win, don't we get a week to interview them?
