we need to go ahead a make a move at OC ... all these fires and hires are going to shrink the quality hiring pool.

Hasn't Nolan run both?

The pool was exceedingly small for the Chiefs to begin with. Patriot inbreeding is a necessity...

This.

Our D is now > their D.

The real difference has been more consistent receiving threats (but not by much), a better offensive line (again, theirs ain't exactly stellar) and of course, Matt Ryan. And I don't even like Matt Ryan that much.

I think the Falcons are going to be caught in this "Ooohhh... soooo close but not good enough" trap for a long, long, time.

ROFL

I find it funny that your anti-Pioli stance started when he fired a coach who threw games.

I get upset when I lose bets too.

That's because Matt Ryan turns into a different, and much shittier QB, in the playoffs.

They would be more successful if the guy could just play to his averages.

Dimitroff shows the ability to be bold, and break away from his previous comfort zone, in the coaches he hires, and the way those searches are conducted. To date, Pioli hasn't, and that's why Dimitroff has done a far superior job to date in his tenure than Pioi has done in his. That can't even be debated. Hopefully Pioli can catch up, be bold this year in the draft and FA, and start disseminating info like a normal team about Coaching searches, etc.

I don't know if he turns into a different QB as much as he simply not that great of a QB. He's very good, but can't quite put the team on his shoulders and execute the right plays at the right time.

Let's be fair. Atlanta's defense doesn't do him any favors when he faces offenses like the Packers and Giants. Also, most defenses (at least in the NFC) are pretty damn good at shutting down the run. Therefore, it all depends on Matt Ryan, and he's simply not that kind of QB. Not yet, anyway. Who knows if he will be.

Atlanta's making a good move in hiring Nolan. They've got to get some better secondary players, though. Ryan's just getting out-gunned in the playoffs. Plain and simple.

vailpass 01-17-2012 03:34 PM

Seemingly strong move.

King_Chief_Fan 01-17-2012 03:48 PM

Mike Nolan....what does he know about defense. Hasn't he had like 3 jobs in the last 3 years?

The whole team seems to go into a shell come play-off time. Ryan holds the ball too long, Turner can't run for shit, and the WR's drop the ball even more than usual. The defense actually played better than expected, especially missing Grimes, but wore out in the end because they got zero help from the offense.

Shows how disorganized the Dolphins are. They were going to hold onto Nolan to see if the new coach wanted him. guess they couldn't do so any longer.

Has this been proved? What games did he throw?

He kept on starting Palko when pioli was telling him to start Orton. That to me is equivalent to throwing games.

Maybe the new Miami regime will shift to a 43, thus letting Soliai move on up to KC.

Saw on twitter today that the Saints likely won't be able to resign Carl Nicks.

Soliai and Nicks would make the Chiefs tons better.
