Anyone with connections for LTL shipments??
It looks like I'm going to need approximately 4 pallets hauled from Crowley, LA 70526 to Lamoni, IA 50140. Anyone have any connections that can get me a good deal or know of a cost-effective approach? I've never used LTL services before.

FedEx? I'm not a expert and we use FedEx exclusively for shipping. I've often seen their trucks on our dock with a giant LTL painted on the side.
|
Can't you just contact a broker or carrier to schedule this?
Are you just "some dude", or are you a business/shipper? |
The little research I've done shows UPS and FedEx are quite a bit higher than trucking companies. I'm just hoping someone has some connections that can give me a good rate and/or someone I can trust.

Believe it or not you can find it on Craigslist or Ebay

Not every company is going to let Joe Blow on their property with a Uhaul to deliver freight |

Manual handheld tools non powered is class 70... pretty cheap freight class
|
Also discount is also determined by freight in what is called a lane... if it's a hot lane for LTL you get it cheaper... Florida freight is high because alot goes in and not much comes out....
give me an approx zip code to and from |

Also if it does not have to get there like yesterday ask for a rate on Fedex Freight Economy

FedEx and UPS are expensive for LTL. Go to www.freightquote.com and you'll be able to compare about 30 different companies and choose either the lowest rate or the one you feel most comfortable with.
You could also use www.uship.com where truck drivers bid on your shipment. |
Good luck to you Ia

It's all going to depend on which trucking companies run that route or have freight hubs near where you are going. Sounds like US 71 to I-35.
Our company uses several different freight lines, and our shipping manager has a good feel for who is cheapest to go where. In general, we use (among others) MME, Beaver Express, R+L and JB Hunt. Good luck! |

They're based in Lenexa, too, so it's nice to know they're close. |

Roy who do you work for?

The trick to it is his time frame, how long he can wait it out for the right price compared to how fast he needs it .... simple supply & demand and truck availability over a ready on demand LTL carrier.. |

I can handle full truck load, flats, steps, vans, over sized & heavy haul plus LTL shipments in the U.S. , Canada & Mexico. |
Sounds like the ( if ) next light load of sugar going to Des Moines could be the ticket. I just don't know when it may be, would have to do some checking to see, put it on the back of a van to lift it right off.
We do have some flatbed and step decks running that lane, would it have to be tarped ? |
