Free UFC Fights On FOX Starting NOW

Just a heads up.

stonedstooge 01-28-2012 07:06 PM

Hope its better than the last attempt FOX had with UFC. Match only lasted a few seconds

It should be, if not, the price is right.

KCTitus 01-28-2012 07:07 PM

Good call...thx, forgot about that.

Would these guys fighting be like a pay per view undercard fighters? I follow boxing, but don't have much experience in the UFC system

In some cases, but some are mainstream, like Evans for example. Sound be some decent fights.

No, these are main card fighters.

The winner of the main event fights for the Light-Heavyweight title.

And the co main event decides who fights for the Middleweight title.

The third fight is between two top 10 guys.

Yeah, the lucky winner gets to take on Bones Jones, ouch.

Thanks for the answers

Rasputin 01-28-2012 07:15 PM

Yes. Hope this is a good fight!

heh...yeah, I wouldnt call them exactly lucky.

SPchief 01-28-2012 07:26 PM

Weidman looks decent on such short notice

stonedstooge 01-28-2012 07:27 PM

Looks like he's going to walk into a left if he's not careful

Shogun 01-28-2012 07:33 PM

Maia should drop out of the top 10. This is very embarrassing for him. He's had plenty of time to get better striking and cardio and hes still the same old Maia,...Best BJJ in the UFC hands down, all the tools. Don't know whats stopping him, maybe hes stuck in wanting to roll all the time. He should just stick to ADCC

SPchief 01-28-2012 07:34 PM

Weidman up 2-0 IMO

SPchief 01-28-2012 07:36 PM

Both guys completly gassed

Shogun 01-28-2012 07:37 PM

I'm calling my sources after the event. Maia is getting cut, I know it.

Bwana 01-28-2012 07:49 PM

Bisping is such a douche. I hope he gets curb stomped.

SPchief 01-28-2012 07:55 PM

Should be a good one here

Titty Meat 01-28-2012 07:56 PM

Who's the Main Event?

stonedstooge 01-28-2012 08:02 PM

Does it score points for trying a takedown or getting one?

SPchief 01-28-2012 08:13 PM

Could go either way, but I think Sonnen gets it.

Rasputin 01-28-2012 08:13 PM

That needed another round

alnorth 01-28-2012 08:13 PM

Bisping should win that fight

getting a takedown does.

reeruned rule though, a lot of fighters do takedowns and do absolutely nothing with it. I'd like to see a point for getting the takedown and then doing something advantageous

Good call. won rounds 1 and 3

alnorth 01-28-2012 08:15 PM

Sonnen must have scored some crazy points in that 3rd round.

SPchief 01-28-2012 08:16 PM

LMAO

Bwana 01-28-2012 08:17 PM

Anderson is going to abuse him.

First 2 rounds were PRETTY DAMN EVEN. Just a lot of dirty boxing and cage stalling, Sonnen pressed more in the 1st with his pace before slowing it down. Definitely lost the 2nd. and the 3rd was complete domination and 2 sub attempts. Pretty clear cut

jab0450 01-28-2012 08:17 PM

That was some straight up WWE shit right there. Sonnen is an idiot.

Have you watched the 1st fight?

Sonnen's such a tool. This isn't pro wrestling.

TrickyNicky 01-28-2012 08:18 PM

I guess we know why CM Punk was going to walk out with Sonnen once upon a time now...

I hope the last fight is decent, because the first two sucked. Just the way it goes some nights, at least I didn't pay for the damn thing.

It's more likely that he just gets some better masking agents next time.

I thought Sonnen narrowly lost the first 2 and maybe the 3rd round wouldn't be enough, but I admit I'm not an expert in how these things get scored. It was close enough that I wouldn't have thought anyone got robbed, so I'm fine with Sonnen winning.

lol @ all roided up. it was prescribed TrT from his doctor and the issue was not reporting it to the NSAC. Dan Henderson is on the same thing.

BigCatDaddy 01-28-2012 08:26 PM

Didn't see this thread so I'll repeat my comment.

Was Rogan watching the same Sonnen/Bisping fight I did? I didn't see anything controversial about that one. Bisping did pretty much nothing while Sonnen was taking him down the entire fight. Good call by the judges on that one. Could have been 29-28 or 30-27.

Rasputin 01-28-2012 08:32 PM

Cool, 5, five minute rounds. Should be a better fight.

Trevo_410 01-28-2012 08:36 PM

Davis

alnorth 01-28-2012 08:47 PM

well, I think its safe to say Evans won that round.

jab0450 01-28-2012 08:51 PM

The only thing keeping Davis off his ass right now is his reach.

And being a d-1 level national champion wrestler?

Captain Obvious 01-28-2012 09:05 PM

Unless he pulls off a big shot, somebody is receiving his first loss tonight.

alnorth 01-28-2012 09:05 PM

Davis is not going to win a decision. He'll have to take Evans out in the 5th

Hes a great wrestler. Just saying Evans is much better on his feet and thats where this fight has been the whole time. He just cant get in on him.

Oh, I thought you meant literally on his ass from getting taken down. lol Yeah Evans striking game is much more complete, rashad is actually a really really good boxer. He looked Lethardic tonight

alnorth 01-28-2012 09:16 PM

stupid question: what do you have to do, short of being knocked out or submitted, to survive a round but fight so poorly you score only 4 or 5 points in that round? If no one ever scores fewer than 8 points per round, they may as well have a 0,1,2 point system.

kcxiv 01-28-2012 09:20 PM

Them fights were lame for free tv. He needs to ****ign put a Nick/Nate Diaz fight on fox. lol

ArrowheadMagic 01-28-2012 09:21 PM

Jones will destroy Evans. You cant finish off a gassed Davis? Evans wont see rd 2.

You'll either end the round with a 10-10, 10-9, 10-8

10-10 would be a draw

10-9's are the most common, means losing the round, thats like what you'd get in most of this fight, rashad dominated but he never really had davis in trouble for an entire round.

10-8's would be somebody completely dominating the entire round and the other fighter basically not even landing a punch, its pretty uncommon, but they happen. You basically have to beat them to a pulp without finishing to get a 10-8

Fighter A wins round 10-8 plus fighter B gets a point deducted during the round for something like a kick to the groin, round becomes 10-7, plus any other possible point deductions (just listing a possible scenario, not probable scenario).

oh, ok that makes sense. Realistically, the worst you should do is a 10-8 "wow, you got your ass kicked but somehow did not get finished" but they leave plenty of room for deductions in case someone is racking up penalties.

Another question, if someone was hypothetically fighting so dirty that he racked up 8 deducted points worth of penalties, wouldn't the ref end the fight and throw his ass out long before then, or not?

Yeah, he would get DQ'd after the few points were removed I would guess.

HoneyBadger 01-29-2012 01:54 AM

Never watch free fights. They suck. Unless they are bum fights

morphius 01-29-2012 02:25 AM

I've learned to just record fights when they are on. Can watch what seems like 4 hours worth of fights in 35 minutes. I don't care about the fighters life stories, blah, blah, blah.

I thought 2 was close, but I would say it's a coin toss on who won that round. Maybe I missed something and would have to watch it again. Sonnen won 1 IMO and 3 was a no doubter.
