Clash of the Sitcoms: Round 4 Mercy Poll.

Okay, this is where mercy becomes valuable. We have room for only one mercy show to slide back in. So you can only vote for one show. One. Uno.

Mine comes down to either Bob Newhart or Always Sunny. In a tough decision, I'll go with Bob.

KurtCobain 02-09-2012 06:45 PM

I saw Kings and Queens, That 70s show, Home Improvement, and All In The Family up there. Wow, you guys are dicks. I'd like to save those great shows, but I can't. RIP

I vote for Happy Days.

Gotta say I'm astounded a show from FX has made it this far. I've never seen the show at all and really never even heard of it. Got to give it props for that.

patteeu 02-09-2012 07:08 PM

Curb Your Enthusiasm is an easy choice for me even though there are several other good comedies here.

whoman69 02-09-2012 07:10 PM

I'm also surprised by some of the shows that didn't make the cut and ended up here. I thought 30 Rock was a lock and All in the Family was #1 for five consecutive years.

We're at the point where we can't keep all the good shows. The next round is really going to be brutal. After adding in the one mercy show, we're down to the top 25. Here are the other 24 in alphabetical order.

Arrested Development
Barney Miller
Beavis and Butthead
Cheers
Family Guy
Frasier
Friends
M*A*S*H
Married With Children
Newhart (the Vermont Inn)
News Radio
Night Court
Scrubs
Seinfeld
South Park
Taxi
The Andy Griffith Show
The Big Bang Theory
The Cosby Show
The Drew Carey Show
The Office (US version)
The Simpsons
The Wonder Years
WKRP in Cincinnati

A lot of these are obvious. The ones that surprise me are Beavis and Butthead, Scrubs, South Park, The Andy Griffith Show, The Drew Carey Show (though I love it), and The Wonder Years (though I love it).

Thig Lyfe 02-09-2012 07:24 PM

This is tough. Ultimately went with 30 Rock but I'm upset I couldn't also vote for Curb and Sunny.

dmahurin 02-09-2012 07:33 PM

Easy, curb all the way.

kc rush 02-09-2012 07:41 PM

Some good shows on there, but Bob Newhart is one of my all time favorites. It gets my vote.

Ebolapox 02-09-2012 07:44 PM

I'll pay 50,000 casino cash for always sunny votes--have to confirm via screen-cap

listopencil 02-09-2012 07:47 PM

I'm voting for Hogan's Heroes, and I can't be bought. Hah!

Baby Lee 02-09-2012 08:01 PM

Can't believe All in the Family AND CYE are both in a mercy round.

Rain Man, when you get a chance could you PM me as much data as you have on the developments thus far [though I think I'd need at least the initial comprehensive list of contestants].

Looks like CP could finally benefit from my wisdom.

Thanxomuchu

Here's the Excel file that contains each round. Red means that it moved on, and yellow means that it lost its heat. However, some yellow shows moved on anyway via mercy rounds, which I haven't been retaining. But if a show is in Round X+1 and was yellow in Round X, you know that it won a mercy poll.

The Round 4 mercy poll is in there, though, since it's current.

Hmm. It won't let me upload the file. If you want to pm me an e-mail address I can send it to you.

Dartgod 02-09-2012 08:38 PM

Hi Bob!

hometeam 02-09-2012 08:50 PM

nearly every show on here is something i voted n, and the ones who advance are 1970s shtick and laugh track POSes. Boo!

This. Or curb. Or die.

WV 02-09-2012 09:54 PM

All in the family needs to win this.

I voted for IASIP because it is a great show. I don't want your dirty casino cash.

KC_Connection 02-09-2012 10:00 PM

Curb should be saved.

cdcox 02-09-2012 11:35 PM

I decided to vote for the leader between Bob Newhart and Hogan's Heros.

Hi Bob!

cdcox 02-10-2012 12:29 AM

I just finished watching the last 5 minutes of an episode of Always Sunny. First time I ever saw the show. Based on that 5 minutes, it isn't better than Bob Newhart or Hogan's Heros.

Bye bye Fonzie!

blaise 02-10-2012 09:48 AM

CYE

Omaha 02-10-2012 09:49 AM

CYE!

Rain Man 02-10-2012 10:08 AM

When crunch time came, gee their old LaSalle ran great. All in the Family is back in.

So curb your disappointment, Larry David fans, and sorry to rain on you, Always Sunny fans, but your shows are outta here.

Omaha 02-10-2012 10:17 AM

NOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Omaha 02-10-2012 10:18 AM

Well, at least Home Improvement is gone. That was getting embarrassing.

Rain Man 02-10-2012 10:22 AM

Dang it, who cast the late vote for Sunny? You could have saved them, and now they're dead! All dead!

L.A. Chieffan 02-10-2012 10:23 AM

i dont understand the final results

Traditionally in polling, the show with the most votes wins, as indicated by having the largest number of votes cast for them. Hope this helps.

blaise 02-10-2012 10:27 AM

All in the Family is about as fun as spending a rainy day at your great grandma's house.

Rasputin 02-10-2012 10:28 AM

Am just going to pretend to reach for the "open elevator door button" but not actually push it for anyone who voted for Sunny in Phili.

Oh, dang. I killed Sunny.

Mosbonian 02-10-2012 10:56 AM

Is there some sort of plan to keep "Sunny" in this competition?

It's almost like a conspiracy....(sarcasm meter on please)

Alton deFlat 02-10-2012 11:00 AM

Gotta go with the Bunker family. That show is a classic.
