Wallace Gilberry
Whats going on with him. Is he gaining any interest out on the market ? I'd love to see the chiefs bring him back. Yea sure he had a off year last year but last years team straight up sucked period.
|
last years team may have sucked but there was still individuals that played great, as well as individuals that showed potential
individually, wallace gilberry was not one of them. he's more part of the reason we did suck, than did not. |
He'll sign with a bargain deal somewhere.
We're as likely as anybody. |
Anybody can have a bad year, I think the guy has the potential to be a sack artist just like the year before. I might be the only one but I hope they bring him back.
|
Don't know if he's coming back but I hope he gets a good deal and opportunity somewhere.
I got to meet him and do some business with him when he got here in 2009. Super-nice, humble and overall very cool guy. Not the first Chief that I've dealt with at work but was by far the coolest. |
He's basically just another guy. He can be replaced

One dementional players dont have a long shelf life around here... Unless that demention is special teams or mediocre quarterback play.

Guess u can count gilberry out.
sent him a tweet asking if he had any visits planned or if he was coming back.told him id like to see him return. His answer Wallace Gilberry@Gilberry92Reply Retweet Favorite · Open @KChiefsMartin55 lol |

He's no Rich Scanlon.

Every once in a while I thought he was gonna turn the page and become a better player-sadly it never happened and losing him means nothing to me.

I think they'll let him twist in the wind a while and then re-sign him.
Doesn't seem like there's much interest out there for him. I won't be heartbroken if he doesn't come back. Bailey basically replaces him anyway, but I suppose the more players we have with a pass-rushing skillset...the better. |
He needs to go to a 4-3 team.
|
The guy sucks. He generated zero pressure last year.
No reason to bring him back. |

#chiefsnation y'all will be missed so maybe if ive ever in ur city again show me some love #outsidelookingin |

They gave Poe #92. Gilberry gone...

He could still be re-signed though. He's a good rotational guy. Nobody's beating his door down to sign him. And it's not like they can't give him a new number. |

I am not familiar with the guy. He's listed at 268 pounds on a site I googled just now. Does he have the frame to carry another 25-30 pounds?
|
In 2011, Gilberry forced a fumble on Tom Brady after coming form behing and tackling him. The Chiefs recovered, but the recovery barely helped the Chiefs.
From 2010 he had 7 sacks and in 2011 he had 2.5 sacks |

I think it was Ryan Harris. He was our RT and did a decent enough job but seemed injury prone. They drafted Orlando Franklin and gave him #74, which was Harris' current jersey number. Harris went on to sign with the Eagles for a year but was placed on IR. The Broncos then signed Harris back as an injury replacement, and he currently wears #72. So...yeah, it typically means the guy is gone, but doesn't mean he can't come back.

Bring back Jeff Webb lol

How bout Marc Boerigter or Johnnie Morton

I hope someone signs him.
That would give us another comp pick next draft. |
Trade for Osi!

The #Buccaneers signed DEs Wallace Gilberry and Jayme Mitchell. Gilberry has 14 career sacks. Mitchell started 13 games for #Browns in '11. |
Good pick up for them. I think he'll do well there.

IMO, Bailey was brought in to replace Gilberry, as Gilberry inflated his worth with his previous years production. Probably thought he'd command too much coin for a role player. Even as he sits unemployed, I think they're happy with Baileys rush ability and he seems better against the run too. |
Sweet!
There is another comp pick next year. Thanks Tampa! |
The guy is asscheeks
|
That's a good fit for him.
|
Gilberry's problem was that he put on weight to try to become a 3 down player. He's best suited as a sub package rusher at a lighter weight.

decent bak-up ... but another young'n can fill his spot .....
|
Nice pick up for Tampa with Bowers out with the Achilles injury. In their scheme he should be able to drop down to his 4-3 DE weight.

Bucs release former #Chiefs DL Wallace Gilberry ... |
I was a big fan. I'm all in for his return. :thumb:

Wow. Talk about falling off. The guy was a solid football player just 2 years ago.

I liked him.

Wallace Gilberry isn't enough of a football name. He should try to be a playwright or go into public radio.

Who knows what's going on in Tampa. Gilberry sucked on the line.
|
Here we go round the Gilberry bush.
|
|
We could definitely use his pass rush ability with Bailey being out. I also think Gilberry is an upgrade over Ropati, especially on obvious passing downs.
|
So Wallace flew out to Tampa, worked for two weeks, and now he's gone? I hope his pay covered his air fare and hotel costs.

Kind of what KC should have been doing to address their injury concerns. |
Bring him in . He was a good pass rusher for us.

Why isn't "Testes Twister" Smith back in here?...

When exactly wa he this great pass rusher for us?
|
Quote:
He was one of the team's best pass-rushing options behind Hali and Houston. I'd bring him back and wave at Jake O'Connell. No question in my mind. |
And how many of those 14 came last year? He's a situational pass rusher same as bailey. If you wanna say he's better that bailey fine but you don't need both of them when you just brought in Poe to do that as well

A moment ago you scoffed at the idea that he could help this team. After I made it clear that he was 3rd best pass-rusher this team had in 2011 (2nd best in 2009 and 2010), you wanna single out the '11 season? The year he was asked to bulk up and be a three down player? K. |
So you want to bring in a guy that is a situational pass rusher, to take a younger, better situational pass rusher off the field?
|

I'm talking about Bailey. Pititoitua? is a backup for Jackson, 3 down type guy. Whether he's good at it or not I don't know.
I wouldn't mind bringing Gilberry back, I don't think you can ever have too many rushers. But I also don't think he's really that great. |
Quote:
|
Now you have Poe and Bailey who you like as your sub guys. You could also have something in Powe, we don't know yet. I don't mind the thought of Gilberry back, but as purely a sub rusher, I'm not sure where he fits in.
