Vegas Recommendations

Headed to Vegas in a week with the wife to celecrate her putting up with me for 5 years. Have been out there a bunch of times but only with the guys so I really have no idea what to do.

Looking for a good steakhouse $150 - $300 range for the meal

A couple of decent places to eat for lunch on the strip that are not super expensive. Maybe $25 - $40 for the meal.

A really good buffet that is likely to have Prime Rib, Crab legs and maybe something like lamb or something different.

Other recommendations for dinners. Anywhere between $50 to $150 for both of us. Would like a good Itlanian joint but none of the fancy new age Italian, just good old fashioned food.

Staying at Four Seaons at Mandalay Bay so anything on the strip would be great.

Also looking for a decent place to get on Fremont for the night we are going down there.

Any good dive bars, one trendy club and theme bars would be cool to know about. I read about a few online but figured someone here could recommend a few. Also looking for a good happy hour or two as we will be there during the week.

Is the Treasure Island Show and Mirage volcano worth the time to see?

Any other recommendations would be great.

Thanks. OC

If you want a nice steak hit up Mesa Grill in Ceasars Palace. It's owned by Bobby Flay himself, food is amazing. I had the New Mexico pork tenderloin and my g/f had a new york strip with Tiger Shrimp as the appy. You'll never taste anything like it. Our bill was around $120 for the two of us.

The Rio for your buffet hands down:

http://www.riolasvegas.com/casinos/r...et-detail.html

For lunch and drinks, hit up Diablo's inside the Monte Carlo. Awesome food and drinks, try the nachos they're like $15-20 but it'll feed 4. Very popular there.

I'd also go see the water show at the Bellagio. That should be a must. I go to Veags once a year since we only live 3 1/2 hours away. Pretty familiar with everything, we go every year for the Super Bowl.

Just do the same thing with her that you do with the guys.

My favorite spot was Bill's Gamblin Hall. I don't really like the fancier casinos as much. Too flashy. Bill's is the dive bar version of a Vegas casino. I am probably in the minority, though.

We already have a strip played to the Rhino but outside of that she doesn't want to gamble all night.

If you can spare a day to go driving, there are some awesome sights to see around Vegas. My fiancee and I went last year, and the day we rented a car and drove through the Valley of Fire was the highlight of the trip.

Barbary Coast.

But Harrah's owns it now. Not as good as it used to be, but still a fun little casino.

Not I have never been. Heard it was quite pricey though. Some say it's not worth and some say it's only cool one time.

If you go to a club I recommend The Tao inside the Venetian. When you're out walking the strip stop by and put your name on the guest list and that'll give you VIP access and should be free drinks for the girls.

This is from a native. Been there, done that! Take my advice. Trust me! I have lived here and partied, and now I am married and still get out for non-crazy fun! So, this is from a anniversary perspective. I'll give you some old Vegas, New Vegas, and Local Vegas. Here goes!

Nice Steak House/New Vegas: Delmonico's (Venetian), Craftsteak (MGM) ,Carnevino (Palazzo)......Old Vegas: Golden Steer(Rat Pack frequented),Hugo's Cellar(Four Queens/old school Vegas feel, actually in a wine cellar, woman is greeted with a rose).......Awesome View Spots W/awesome food: Eiffel tower(Paris), Top of the World(Stratosphere), Mix(Mandalay Bay), Alize(Palms).......Good lunch, or drink and appetizer, or after dinner drinks and dessert with AWESOME view spots: Olives(Bellagio), Panvino(Awesome just off Strip View/local gem, go just after sunset for some after dinner drinks and desert. Great view of strip and Planes landing), Mon Ami Gabi(Paris). When you go to Downtown/Fremont area: have drinks at the Peppermill(old school Vegas.(Elvis, Rat Pack, Blah, blah, blah. Cool fireside and fire-lighted, large, velvet booths.) cheap, good, near Fremont, hole in the wall italian joint- Chicago Joe's. Just off Strip, fun, Local spot to eat Tapas: Firefly.

Highest recommendations for a wifey, love trip: Alize or Eiffel tower because of views! Mix for after dinner drinks, dessert, light live music. Mon Ami Gabi and Olives for a few lunches. Chicago Joes for dinner, Luv Its(local's downtown favorite)and after dinner drinks at pepper mill for Fremont night. Fremont street might not be the exact crowd you want to party around with you wife. cruise through to see it, gamble and drink for free and enjoy a free lounge show. The are a couple really fun spots down there, but very rowdy!

as far as Clubs Go. All the big, new casinos clubs are packed, fun, and popping all night. Take ur pick!

Probably because it's actually PRIME rib, not just a standing rib roast (Choice beef or lower). Same cut, completely different quality. Restaurants often sell standing rib roasts as prime rib because patrons don't know the difference.

Ms. Luke and I were married in Vegas. Course that was before the economy went south. Go downtown and see Freemont street is your wife has never been to Vegas. Golden Nugget used to have a good breakfast buffett. Have fun, congrats on 5 years.

That does looks pretty sweet. I will have to see if I can pry the wife from the pool long enough to do that. that is right up my alley.

Battista's: Hole in the wall, hands down for Italian.

Also, Tao Asian Bistro in the Venetian is an awsome place too. Great food, on the high side though. And they have a club on the upstairs of the place too thats pretty cool.

I always make sure I eat breakfast at The Peppermill at least once every trip to Vegas. Its on the north strip next to the Riviera.

I personally would say yes...they are free, so u can walk around and catch those and the caesers show, gt your drink on and enjoy the evening....they arent 'omg fantastic' or anything but free and people watching kind of experience....so if you enjoy walking, / people watching / drinking in public YES.....If you want an awesome superduper top notch show - no. Do some of the other paid shows (blue man, cirque...etc,..) if you want that type of experience.

someone said (and recommeded to me in one of my threads on the topic) go to the peppermill. totally worth it.

i've been to the steakhouse on the top floor of binions (downtown). best ribeye i've ever eaten. been to vegas a dozen times, mostly on the strip. have started staying at the golden nugget, and have had just as much fun downtown as the strip.

have a great trip!

I recommend the buffet at Aria/city center. If I remember correctly it includes unlimited wine but I wouldn't know if it was any good as I just get fckd up on vodka redbull. Basically everything at Aria I'm a fan of

No problem...those nights (walking around catching the strip shows) I usually end up having the best time....

Also, I wanted to add a vote to the Rio buffet.....it isn't right on the strip but its worth the cab fare and the best buffet there, at least that I've been to. And I dont care for buffets that much.

Free Cool Stuff:

Volcano @ Mirage

Pirate Show @ Treasure Island

Fountain Show @ Bellagio (go in and check out the decorations&gardens too)

The free atlantean show @ Caesers (every hour on the hour in forum shops)

Walking Around Freemont Street (at night!)

Checking out Ny Ny inside....Ride the rollercoaster (not free)

Stratosphere Bar (like you said the rides arent free but AWESOME.

Since you are very close by, the luxor pyramid is worth a look......
Aquarium @ mirage

If you do go to Rio for your buffet theres a carnival themed show where they throw beads, have dancers and whatnot

Have fun!!!!

when you go to the restaurants with views, you may want to tip a minimum of $20 to the person taking names and ask for a window table. Baller!

I wouldn't do the jump, it's not bungee/skydiving. It's basically guided chains and not worth the 80 bucks IMO. But absolutely recommend getting the unlimited pass for the other 3 rides, well worth the money especially if your're there mid week and can just ride them over and over without lines. Get drinks at the skybar during sunset and do the rides after.

Seconded.

Also, if you're into more unique dining the Wicked Spoon buffet at the Cosmopolitan was good. The chicks walking around the Cosmopolitan were top notch too. Definitely the best looking women we saw among the hotels.

Viva La Vegas.....

Did the hooker enjoy her meal too

Highly recommend when hanging on Fremont to go into Circa and see the largest sports book. If you like craft cocktails - they have the legacy club on the roof that has great views and drinks - You should get a reservation so you can have a view when sitting.

Mirage and Bellagio shows are always worth it in my opinion.

If you want fun and cheap gambling - The D on fremont has an small room with old coin machines and has a quarter mechanical horse racing game that is fun to waste some time at.

Right off of Fremont is Hog's and hefers - awesome bar. The original coyote ugly.

I recommend the Mob Museum downtown LV if you make it down to Fremont street. Spent 3 hours there. There is a speak easy around back.

When does that end? Coming in on Saturday. Would like a bunch of businessmen to wander into the poker rooms.

scho63 01-09-2024 10:17 AM

It ends of Friday- I will be here on Saturday and driving back to Phoenix.

What time you arrive?

scho63 01-10-2024 09:13 AM

****ing like 30 degrees last night and a high of 48 today.

There is like 200,000+ in town for the CES show.

Cool highlights are the flying drone full size car and the LG clear TV screeen.

I've went a few times last year...

-Best low limit black jack is at Treasure Island
-Best sport bar and wings is Blondies at Planet Hollywood
-All the steakhouses are good! So far I liked the one at Luxur best and Salt Bae's spot outside Luxor the least.
-The Japanese spots at New York and Hilton were really good too!
-I think MGM's buffet is most popular, Wynn is good too!
-We like the Circus De Ole shows, Zombie Burlesque at Planet Hollywood, or the Tournament of Kings lol
-Bellagio Fountain is worth seeing once

Jewish Rabbi 01-10-2024 09:33 AM

Circus De Ole LMAO

I watched the AFC championship game at PH last year. Between all the butt hurt Bengals and Raiders fans i was probably the least popular person in the sportsbook that night.

Make sure after they win this year to chant dynasty. They really don't like that.

14 of us went to goThe Golden Steer Steakhouse.

Holy shit what a dinner. The greatest porterhouse I have ever eaten. Escargot, Oysters Rockefeller, stuffed mushroom with crab, meatballs with mozzarella apps. 4 bottles of red.

Then off to Davidoff cigar bar with a lot of Oban 14 and lots of nice locals. Did a liitle gambling and flushed $250 beans down the drain.

Now some late night drinking and snacks.

I can only survive another few days here......ROFL

We did the Golden Steer last summer and it was amazing. The food, the service, the atmosphere etc. I recommend this place to everyone.

The Davidoff cigar bar is a favorite as well.
