So with Jon Baldwin kicking ass in OTAs...
1. **** all the haters last year and this offseason. He's not a diva. You're all divas for having your period thinking he's a diva. Has he proven shit yet? No, but he sounds focused, studied, in shape, and beastly. He's CLEARLY taken the steps to make himself an elite player, exhibiting very un-diva-like behavior. As long as he keeps this up (no reason to expect him not to) I don't see any possible way that he could turn into a bust because he didn't work hard enough, didn't do the right things, or isn't good enough. Basically, the football skills are there. And he's never ****ing had behavioral problems. Go fist a cow, dumbasses. Thomas Jones is a punk ass pillowbitergot who should have gotten his dick ripped off after he pulled that shit last year.
Not sure if this has been posted yet. Haven't seen the thread. Either way, check out this interview: http://videos.kansascity.com/vmix_ho...a?id=144585461 Bunch of player-speak and Patriot way language. But with his fantastic practices and now this, it sounds like the dude flat-out gets it. He understands football, and he understands this team. 2. If Baldwin performs like I think he's capable of performing this next season, we are ****ing stacked at receiver. Nobody knows what the hell is going on with Bowe, but if Murphy's Law goes into effect and Bowe really wants triple digits on his new contract or something, we should show no hesitation to rally behind Baldwin for a season. Baldwin and Breaston isn't the same thing as Bowe and Breaston, but that's still a deadly top-2 WR combination. It's better than the Turds and Chargers in our division, and if Baldwin does what I think he can do, I think those two are better than Thomas and Decker. And I think Decker's a pretty damn good receiver. But let's think happy thoughts instead. Bowe wants to play in KC. He said that much. It's very likely we'll get the damn contract done. And when we do get the contract done, I think we'll see the Killer Bs (lol getit amirite?) that we thought we were gonna see last year. Hell, I think we'll see a 3-WR combination that's top 5 in the league. No question. |
This ain't putting prune sherbet in my bowl
|
baldwin is going to be a man among boys soon. he'll be the best WR this team has had since otis.
|
I like you.
|
Soooo.... What are ya tryin to say, just spit it out.
|
With Cassel?
|
Wait, is his name Jonathan or Jonathon? It's spelled Jonathon on the locker.
|
Baldwin has Fitz-type upside, physically.
|
I definitely think he's got the right attitude.
That said I'm not ready to hand our offense over to him... |

I still think that Baldwin was drafted to replace Bowe.
|
We saw flashes. I'll be interested to see what he can do with OTA's and a full training camp.

If he plays 16 games, Baldwin's got 1000 yards wrapped up. No question. And that's taking into account the Cassel factor too.

The amount of weapons and playmakers on this team is absolutely ridiculous.
Oh and the 3 B's are already a better set of recievers than those clowns out in Pile High. |

baldwin is the kind of wideout that will get his feet under him and then start pushing his QB and team to win and he has the talent to back it up. |

He's displayed enough real flash to warrant plenty of enthusiasm, seemingly saying & doing all of the right things, the sky is the limit if he keeps on this track.
But he does still have much to prove, his rookie production, while being hampered by several scenarios, was no better than a guy like Crabtree's, whom many consider a relative bust... the good news is that i believe Baldwin is more naturally gifted, more physical & capable of the circus play. Hopefully he keeps on chugging the kool-aid. |

It's OTA's ! He better be kicking ass !!!
Diva? Way to early to tell. Other than an injury last year he hasn't face any real adversity yet. Wait and see at this point.:thumb: |

The WR position on this team is perfect.
Sign DBowe and see what he and Baldwin can do for the next few years. Not that difficult. Now beyond that, I think one of them is going to get dealt, and I think its Bowe so long as he is worth the contract we will sign him to this year. |

I like the fact they put Baldwin beside Berry in the locker room...:thumb:
|
I think he's gonna tear it up this year.

Not to be a Debbie Downer or anything, but why is everyone so damn certain that he'll tear things up? Even near the end of last year, I don't remember him being all-star or anything.
Don't get me wrong - he's got all the potential in the world, and has a chance to be one of the best receivers in the league. But let's not crown him just yet. So many things have to go right for him to reach his potential, and to assume them all is to set ourselves up for disappointment. |
Quote:
He's doing ALL of those things correctly right now. You've heard the coaches reports. Don't you think the chances of him turning on God mode are FAR greater than the chances of him busting? I mean, I'd put it right now at like 80/20. I'm only leaving the 20% out there in the case of freak injury or some other crazy shit. |

Baldwin is good and all, but can't catch it and throw it too...
See what I did there? |
Honestly you can't really tell if he is doing good or carr's replacement is doing crappy.

no pro bowl, I don't think, but baldwin will go to work and show some presence on this offense. let's not forget who #1 is. |

Yeah. Like Matt Cassel in the playoffs. Just get the **** out. Throw a billion interceptions on your own side of the field. Or check it down like a reerun against the Ravens defense. Don't care how. Just get the **** out.

... that's it. Tell me who else I hate. |
He went a week of OTAs without punching someone?
Clearly he's a candidate for NFL Man of the Year. |
Okay, Matt Cassel and white RBs.
And black kickers, but we all hate those guys. |

This thread is as good as any to ask if there's even a morsel of hopeful rumor remaining in a Drew Brees trade somewhere?

There's a part of me that's certain Belichek could like Mallett so much that he could still salvage a 1st rounder for Tom Brady if he made his move now.
In which case, I'd be first in line with saying let's get Brady's ass in Red & Gold and draft our QBOTF next year, Denver style. |
Two Chief Pro Bowlers this year completely out of left field. Brady Quinn and Johnathan Baldwin.

Then Baldwin started playing. And really, he started playing pretty well. He was a rookie with ol' shit-for-QB Palko. He demonstrated in the San Diego game that he's got the ability to play in this league, and really seemed to have a connection with Cassel. After the season ended, people already ****ing wrote him off as a bust just because he had a rough start. They'll tell you they were just being "reasonable" about their expectations regarding Baldwin, but these are the exact same ****ing assholes who were calling him a loser when we drafted him. Not the majority of posters. Well under half. But still a significant batch that I felt like chewing out. |

How exactly does one kick ass in OTA's?

From 1.9 receptions per game to Pro Bowl.
