Any Pittsburgh CP'ers who can give some guidance?
I'm heading to Pittsburgh this weekend for the first time in my life to catch a Pirates game. Been a fan the same amount of time since I starting liking the Chiefs back in 1970 when I was a little kid. I want to knock this off my bucket list and coming to KC and Arrowhead is on the list for this year as well...
I'm driving into town on Sat around 10 am and leaving around 5-6 pm Sun after the game. Any recommendations for a nice hotel near PNC park and a few sites to hit as well as a nice restaurant. I already know about Primanti Brothers Any help greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance..... |
Its a great park.
I stayed at the Fairmont in downtown and walked across the Roberto Clemente Bridge right to the park. Its a half mile walk. |

When I visited Pittsburgh for a 2 night stay in 2009 I hit the following:
Pamela's - Awesome breakfast! Primanti Bros - you know what you're getting. Good, not great - and now they even have locations in FL so it's not as unique. Fat Head's Saloon - Awesome - headwiches - huge - Awesome! Wings, Suds, & Spuds - overrated. Better wings in Tampa. Actually, here's my write-up of the trip: http://www.chiefsplanet.com/BB/showp...0&postcount=28 |

Please poop & pee on everything you can, while you are there. That is all.

If I ever go back to visit Pittsburgh near the top of my list is Pamela's for breakfast.

Awesome place I just discovered is Meat and Potatoes on Forbes just down from 6th in downtown. PNC is my favorite ballpark east of the Mississippi. If you don't have tickets try to get them in the PBC Level. Best value in sports.

Not that this as anything to do with it, but I saw Bill Cowher, his wife and one of his daughters there just after the season in 2003. |

Thanks to all the great recommendations.
Had a great weekend in Pitttsburgh. The drive out and back was FAST, 3 1/2 hrs out and 3 3/4 hrs back for 240 miles. Hit a nasty thunderstorm on the way home but it only lasted about 25 miles and now the same storm is hitting us here in NoVA. The food was great and I've attached a photo from breakfast at Pamela's. I would have taken a photo from dinner at Meat and Potatoes, another CP'er great recommendation but my phone died after being out all day taking pictures and the photos at the game. Had Banana Walnut Pancakes at Pamela's that were crispy and light with tons of bananas and walnuts inside. Went up to Mt Washington and took photos of the city including the two stadiums Took in the ballgame and I stayed directly across the street at the brand new Residence Inn by Marriott. It was crazy expensive but for one night of bliss I didn't care. After the game I ate at Meat and Potatoes. I had the Salty Pig Flatbread appetizer, the Lamb Shank for dinner and Stick Toffee Date Bread for dessert. A Pale Ale draft, a few glasses of Malbec and a Tuaca w dessert made it a great meal Then went to SoHo Bar and chatted up a bunch of hot ladies and got a few phone numbers. All in all a great weekend trip!!! :thumb: |
