but Kudo's to you Serena...

Great comeback. Winning Wimbleton at 32 is not an easy thing to do.

Serena is amazing and no one really gives a **** lol

Thunder Thighs wins another. Hope Federer takes care of business tomorrow

Munson 07-07-2012 02:22 PM

I only watch tennis when its two hot women "grunting" as they hit the ball. Otherwise, its unwatchable.

Two-Twenty 07-07-2012 02:30 PM

Tennis is a great sport to watch.

& Serena is one of the All time greats

Hope I get to Wembley before she hangs it up

Ace Gunner 07-07-2012 02:43 PM

Wow, that is impressive. What a great athlete.

whoman69 07-07-2012 02:50 PM

Tennis might be the only sport where its more entertaining watching the women than the men.

Completely disagree. Women's tennis is just so much worse than men's tennis that I honestly can't watch it unless somebody hot is playing.

Federer-Murray should be a good one tomorrow. There's a lot at stake for both players.

He should be winning most matches even at his age.. Serena and her brother are dudes..

And when they **** are the women going to start going 3/5.. They have had equal pay for a while, make them winning win 3 matches..

It seems to me that the only top player who doesn't have a bitchy demeanor on court is Federer (although even he was a bit of a whiner back in his youth).

Nadal isn't too bad, most of the time. Djokovic really pissed me off when he got upset at the crowd at the US Open rooting for Roddick instead of him. WTF did he expect? And then he goes and insults the crowd? Lame. They weren't actively rooting against him until he started getting pissed that they were going for the hometown boy.

That Djokovic stuff was a while ago (2008, I think). IIRC, he was upset about a comment Roddick made about him feigning injury before that match began. He's never really had the crowds on his side, but he finally learned last year how to harness that energy in a positive way.

Did you see Nadal's match against Rosol last week? The guy acted like a spoiled child, complaining to umpires and even intentionally bumping the guy on the changeover. I know he was frustrated that he was about to lose to some no-name who was locked in, but there is no reason to act like that ever.

Silock 07-07-2012 04:50 PM

Yeah, it was a while ago. I just never got over it. And Djokovic did feign injury almost every match a while ago. He would start losing, then call for the trainer. Sometimes, instead of taking the loss, he'd just quit the match.

I missed the Nadal match.

Also from Nadal's match last week (which was one of the most ridiculous matches I've ever seen considering the kind of zone Rosol was in):

Nadal has always been pretty respectful on the court. I don't think his behavior this week will become the norm for him

He's pretty respectful on the court when he's winning (which, fortunately for him, happens nearly every match he plays). When he's losing, though, he regresses to this bitchy state often.

If they could merge the two at the net that would be sweet. Still both > soccer

ive played tennis my entire life and grew up on sampras and agassi, so not having any americans in the sport worth a damn its so hard to care much anymore.

Serena, Venus, and Dr Dre are from Compton... So...

Canofbier 07-08-2012 07:20 AM

I happen to believe that both tennis and hockey are vastly underrated by Americans as spectator sports. Both are fast and very highlight-friendly. I'll be on the road today, so I'll miss the men's final, but I hope Federer pulls through.

Espn or Wimbledon.com

Yes, no consistency at the top of the sport among the elite payers in women's tennis.

On the subject of ESPN3. Why do they seem to let you watch practically all major events on it but not MNF?

Very high level from both players so far.

I think Murray, when he's playing his best, is better than Federer's current best. The question is whether he can hold his nerves over the course of an entire match. He's never done it before at this stage.

Perhaps, I don't think she's as committed to the sport as she used to be. Before this Wimbledon, she'd lost fairly early in three of her last four slams. Guys at the top level of the men's game just don't do that. In fact, Nadal's 2nd round loss here is the first time I can remember in years that any one of Djokovic/Nadal/Federer/Murray has lost early in a slam.

KC_Connection 07-08-2012 10:17 AM

Federer hasn't lost before the QFs in a slam since the 2004 FO in the 3R. Ridiculous streak actually. Nadal's last time before Rosol here was the 2009 FO loss to Soderling in the 4th round. Djokovic's last early loss was the 2009 FO in the 3rd round. Even Murray, the least consistent among them, hasn't lost early since the 2010 USO in the 3rd.

Silock 07-08-2012 10:18 AM

She was also injured, iirc.

That's another thing that's ridiculous about the top men's players. They're never hurt (or it just seems that way and they're able to excel despite injuries). Del Potro was in the running to join that elite before his injury.
