No shit sherlock?

Thanks for the obvious MR INSIDER. (Directed to Schefter of course.)

petegz28 07-13-2012 03:59 PM

So when does he start not getting paid? Is it training camp that if he doesn't report he doesn't get paid?

well the dude asked him, and he answered. He wasnt breaking anything lol so pissy these days.

Hoover 07-13-2012 04:01 PM

All this talk that we will not sign him to a long term contract (he already agreed to the 1 year deal folks) means that I bet something gets done.

Quesadilla Joe 07-13-2012 04:02 PM

I think I heard a while back that Franchised players don't get paid until the regular season. I think Franchised players are exempt from fines too.

I cant believe that's would be true. So they can not report to camp and face no repercussion?

Yeah I think so. If they refuse to sign the franchise tender they are technically not under contract.

ShowtimeSBMVP 07-13-2012 04:21 PM

Andrew Brandt ‏@adbrandt

No, not under contract. RT @ChiefsOrioles12 If Dwayne Bowe doesn't sign his tender and holds out can he be fined?

Picturing all NFL vets who got tagged sitting on a beach somewhere with a drink in their hand laughing about all the other schleps that are currently in camp.

I think Pioli wants to wait and see what he has with Baldwin before committing to Bowe long term.

w/o Bowe i dont see Cassel and maybe even Pioli being here long term.
Based on the offense we saw in Denver last season when Bowe went down.
(i know we should have Charles and Hillis but teams are gonna try and stop the run and force Cassel to beat 'em)

Depends on how good the other pieces are.

if he does the full hold out you are going to see exactly like the scenario Vincent Jackson did if anyone followed that.

Held out for a long time, came back at the holdout deadline. Played just to play the final games, and that was it.

it's a guessing game but i find it hard to imagine the best wide receiver this team has had since the super bowl days isn't getting signed long term.

if i were guessing, i'd say it has something to do with Bowe not wanting to sign because of Cassel and Pioli's pissed.

(speculation alert) ^

We need Bowe. We don't sign him, Pioli is going to get fired.

This whole thing is dumb as shit. It's Jared Allen Part II, except Bowe doesn't have nearly as much baggage.

Did you meltdown like this when Tamba didn't sign prior to his season on the franchise tag?

The best part if Bowe holds out the first 6 games?

Guess.

Cassel will never, ever be benched.

It will not happen.

Amazing that people haven't realized that.

If the Chiefs were even considering the idea that he might fail this year, they would have brought in a legit backup.

Romeo does have a history of changing qb's.

Maybe it could happen.

Do we even know what injury Bowe sustained in the Finale?

Hammock Parties 07-13-2012 05:58 PM

Int. Arrowhead Stadium, sometime in March.

ROMEO CRENNEL: "You know, Scott, Cassel might fail horribly early in the year."

SCOTT PIOLI: "That's true, Romeo. Should we discuss a contingency plan?"

CRENNEL: "I think it would be wise, my liege."

PIOLI: "I'm thinking...and stop me if you don't like this idea...Brady Quinn?"

CRENNEL: "Scott, you read my mind."

PIOLI: "ROMEO!!! You son of a BITCH."

Who cares? I guess a good start would be, the fans, Bowe and the Chiefs management. As far as scooter, it's time for him to show he has what it takes, or he can get the **** out. His biggest screw up to date, has been Cassel, which in my eyes, is a deal breaker. At this point, I have little respect for the guy, so if he leaves, good riddance.

We were 0-3 last year and he was playing like shit.

Didn't get benched.

He'll keep us a game or two under 500 all year, complete 57 percent of his passes for 180 yards a game, maintain a 1-1 TD-INT ratio, and be just mediocre enough NOT to get benched.

That, and that arrogant cockbite Pioli refused to pay him what he was worth.

Which of course was a complete bullshit excuse, because Pioli NEVER wanted Orton here to compete with Cassel.

We will see. I just dont see it. If they want him to just keeep shitting the bed and end up 4-12 picking 8 or so with no shot at a franchise qb when the rest of our team is in the prime ready to step it up, then by all means go for it. IN the end, i have the Lakers to look forward too. Ill be ok. At least one of my teams is decent. Dodgers too. Its not like i am not used of the Chiefs being shitty.

They WON'T go 4-12.

They'll be a game or two under .500 all year, and Cassel will be mediocre enough that Pioli will be justified in not benching him because it's easy to say the pieces of shit we have as backup QBs could throw 4 picks in a game.

I'm not a fan of being able to make a player stay with you and not commit to said player. I realize they are being extremely well compensated for what they do, but they also bring in a shit ton of revenue for the owner and the city.

If a guy wants to go somewhere else to play, either pay him enough to stay with you or let him walk.

Well, when i first posted in this thread, i was under the assumption that our record would be 1-5 or something. no Bowe? whos gonna get the ball? as shitty as Cassel is, he did get Bowe the Ball, without him, ughh. The passing game will be bad. Baldwin hasnt proven a ****ing thing. Then we got nothing but midgets.

We dont know how Charles is gonna be, so chances are, without Bowe, this team after 6 games can be pretty ****ing bad.

whoman69 07-13-2012 06:35 PM

Without Bowe we are going to see a lot of 8 yard slants to Baldwin because once he gets beyond that range, Cassel can't hit him.

O.city 07-13-2012 06:36 PM

Without Bowe, the o takes a big hit.

I think Baldwin has potential, but hasn't shown anything yet.

If they do let Bowe walk, it's pretty inexcusable, unless he's asking for Brees type money.

The team might be willing to pay the player though but the player might just want to play somewhere else.

With the tag, at least teams can hold onto a player for a year or two until the player caves and decides to sign long term or until they can get something in a trade.

Could you imagine how crushed you would be as a fan if the Chiefs drafted a QBOTF and then he just walked away in FA?

Dayze 07-13-2012 06:40 PM

Baldwin may be the real deal
and if so, the offense would be even more awesome with him and Bowe together.

I just don't think you should be able to hold a player like that against his will. It would suck to lose players like that, but I think it would put somewhat more pressure on teams to win and put forth more effort in retaining players not just knowing you can slap the tag on someone.

I guarantee you the issue is that Pioli does not want to pay a wide receiver. Why? Because The Patriot Way never pays wide receivers.
