Schefter: Don't expect Bowe to sign long-term deal by Monday's deadline
3h Adam Schefter Adam Schefter @AdamSchefter
RT @mulch10: What about D Bowe? ... Do not expect a long-term deal to be done there by Monday's 4 pm ET deadline. https://twitter.com/AdamSchefter/ |
No shit sherlock?
Thanks for the obvious MR INSIDER. (Directed to Schefter of course.) |
So when does he start not getting paid? Is it training camp that if he doesn't report he doesn't get paid?

All this talk that we will not sign him to a long term contract (he already agreed to the 1 year deal folks) means that I bet something gets done.
|
I think I heard a while back that Franchised players don't get paid until the regular season. I think Franchised players are exempt from fines too.

No, not under contract. RT @ChiefsOrioles12 If Dwayne Bowe doesn't sign his tender and holds out can he be fined? |

Hi Dave! :D
|
I think Pioli wants to wait and see what he has with Baldwin before committing to Bowe long term.

Based on the offense we saw in Denver last season when Bowe went down. (i know we should have Charles and Hillis but teams are gonna try and stop the run and force Cassel to beat 'em) |

Enjoy your season long audition for free agency Bowe. We will miss you.
Sorry you aren't part of "the right 53" |
Franchised player can hold out until week 10 or he has to sit the whole season I think... If he were to come back at week 10, they pro rate his salary.

this would be our best way to get rid of Cassel. |
if he does the full hold out you are going to see exactly like the scenario Vincent Jackson did if anyone followed that.
Held out for a long time, came back at the holdout deadline. Played just to play the final games, and that was it. |
Welcome to the Dallas Cowboys in 2013 Dwayne Bowe!

At this point, I'm really finding it hard to give a crap what he does. Shit or get off the pot Dewey.

it's a guessing game but i find it hard to imagine the best wide receiver this team has had since the super bowl days isn't getting signed long term. if i were guessing, i'd say it has something to do with Bowe not wanting to sign because of Cassel and Pioli's pissed. (speculation alert) ^ |
Quote:
We need Bowe. We don't sign him, Pioli is going to get fired. This whole thing is dumb as shit. It's Jared Allen Part II, except Bowe doesn't have nearly as much baggage. **** it. Carl dumped Allen, it got him fired. Pioli wants to repeat that shit, let him. |

The best part if Bowe holds out the first 6 games?
Guess. |
Bowe has this franchise by the nuts. Pioli's ego is probably incredibly bruised.
|
I wish they would have just done away with the franchise tag last summer.

So how did Pioli get DJ, Charles and Tamba to sign deals like they did?
|

Define "getting paid," what kind of figure are we talking about? |

Cassel will never, ever be benched. It will not happen. Amazing that people haven't realized that. If the Chiefs were even considering the idea that he might fail this year, they would have brought in a legit backup. |
Romeo does have a history of changing qb's.
Maybe it could happen. |

Yup.... Thats why Orton left, he knew he had no chance to be the starter |

Do we even know what injury Bowe sustained in the Finale?
|
Int. Arrowhead Stadium, sometime in March.
ROMEO CRENNEL: "You know, Scott, Cassel might fail horribly early in the year." SCOTT PIOLI: "That's true, Romeo. Should we discuss a contingency plan?" CRENNEL: "I think it would be wise, my liege." PIOLI: "I'm thinking...and stop me if you don't like this idea...Brady Quinn?" CRENNEL: "Scott, you read my mind." PIOLI: "ROMEO!!! You son of a BITCH." http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...N_predator.gif |

Unless they are ok with a half stadium and boo's on national TV. If they are ok with it, so am i. im ready to laugh. |

Didn't get benched. He'll keep us a game or two under 500 all year, complete 57 percent of his passes for 180 yards a game, maintain a 1-1 TD-INT ratio, and be just mediocre enough NOT to get benched. |
|
Quote:
Which of course was a complete bullshit excuse, because Pioli NEVER wanted Orton here to compete with Cassel. |
Quote:
|
Had we signed Orton, you'd be bitching about that too.
|
Stanzi > Orton
|
Quote:
They'll be a game or two under .500 all year, and Cassel will be mediocre enough that Pioli will be justified in not benching him because it's easy to say the pieces of shit we have as backup QBs could throw 4 picks in a game. |

I'm not a fan of being able to make a player stay with you and not commit to said player. I realize they are being extremely well compensated for what they do, but they also bring in a shit ton of revenue for the owner and the city. If a guy wants to go somewhere else to play, either pay him enough to stay with you or let him walk. |
Quote:
We dont know how Charles is gonna be, so chances are, without Bowe, this team after 6 games can be pretty ****ing bad. |
Without Bowe we are going to see a lot of 8 yard slants to Baldwin because once he gets beyond that range, Cassel can't hit him.
|
Without Bowe, the o takes a big hit.
I think Baldwin has potential, but hasn't shown anything yet. If they do let Bowe walk, it's pretty inexcusable, unless he's asking for Brees type money. |
Quote:
With the tag, at least teams can hold onto a player for a year or two until the player caves and decides to sign long term or until they can get something in a trade. Could you imagine how crushed you would be as a fan if the Chiefs drafted a QBOTF and then he just walked away in FA? |
If they let him walk it won't be for another 2 yrs if I understand correctly.
|
Quote:
Baldwin may be the real deal and if so, the offense would be even more awesome with him and Bowe together. and you would think the Chiefs would be in a hurry to get him signed. something isn't right with this. |

If it's all Pioli, how did he get Charles, DJ, and Tamba to sign deals that he did. Same with Winston.
|
So you guys really think Bowe is going to sit out and not make $9.3MM this year? You think he can make that up in a long term deal the next year?
He can't make up that $9.3MM so he won't sit out. He will miss some camp. |
Quote:

Quote:
Well, not exactly. Hali did, and he got paid. I guarantee you the issue is that Pioli does not want to pay a wide receiver. Why? Because The Patriot Way never pays wide receivers. |
Cheaps are Cheap.....

If Bowe doesn't sign I will not be looking forward to this season anymore.

Bowe might hold out a few days of TC, but even that woudn't really make sense if he still can't sign a long term deal.
Forfeit 9 mil? doubtful. |
