Pretty damn impressive for a woman in the entertainment industry. As quickly as I'm losing faith in humanity, this helps slow the roll.

Kellie Pickler shaves head for breast cancer awareness
Country music star, Kellie Pickler, revealed a new look on "Good Morning America" this morning. Pickler has shaved her head in support of her best friend, Summer Holt Miller, who was recently diagonosed with breast cancer. Summer will begin chemotherapy tomorrow.

“It’s been a great life-changing day,” Pickler tweeted yesterday, urging fans to watch GMA this morning for the news. “Be sure to watch “Good Morning America” tomorrow morning (Sept 5th). You won’t want to miss this!!! ;)”

“Cancer does not discriminate,” Pickler said on GMA. “If this compels even one person to change their mentality toward waiting until the age of 40 for their mammogram, then it will be worth it,” Miller added.

Kellie is working with Athena water, the bottled water company that was initially created by cancer survivor Trish May, to raise money for cancer research and awareness.

Summer Holt Miller has set up a CaringBridge journal where readers can follow her journey. To view that journal, click here.

I always thought she was epic hot, and it turns out she may not be a horrible person either.

I have no clue who that is.

We live in Western Kansas. I am surfing the net via my brand new 56.6k modem and I watch the Chiefs on my Sony Trinitron TV.

48 hours is cutting edge speed for us.

Reerun_KC 09-07-2012 07:13 AM

I think she is so beautiful. I remember when she came on American Idol. I was walking by the living room and stopped... I was like WOW who is that sweetness...

Not a fan of her songs, but a fan of her looks.

WV 09-07-2012 07:16 AM

Wonder if breast exams are easier or harder on a fake set, I'd like to give it a whirl on Kellie.

Jenson71 09-07-2012 07:17 AM

I think she's the one on the left in the picture of the two without hair.

So what her hair will grow back. Going a few weeks with stubble isn't that big of a deal. Certainly not a selfless act.

I think the gal is dumb as a tire. I couldn't name a single song of hers after that one about shoes... I guess I can't even name that one. But, yeah - doing that in support of one of your friends is incredibly selfless, especially as a woman. Especially as a woman who makes her entire living largely on how good she looks.

Saulbadguy 09-07-2012 07:34 AM

She should give 100% of her money to cancer research

I get what you're saying, but women and their hair is a big deal (probably a bigger deal than it should be). There's some social significance tied to this. I'd say it's selfless, it's just not that notable.

Yeah really. It's a nice gesture at best. All she has to go through is not being pretty for a few weeks. Not exactly mother Theresa.

More like 6 months.

Reerun_KC 09-07-2012 08:05 AM

Nice Gesture by her... And the fact that is pisses people off here or makes them question her, makes the act that much cooler in my book...

Props to Kelley, not only are you pretty and selfless, you made your friends day. Well done.

Frankie 09-07-2012 08:05 AM

What does hair have to do with breasts?!

Here's a suggestion to KP. How long does it take to grow new hair?S he should probably walk around in public with bare breasts for that long.

Why so you can beat off in a napkin in front of your keyboard and monitor?

She's beautiful more in a cute innocent and lovable way. Her "dumb" shtick was actually very cute.

I don't know much about her. I just remember I had a music video on in the background and it was zoomed on her face the whole time. Then The end it zoomed out and I realized this chock had epic tits. So I committed her name to memory.

But I thought it was significant. Particularly in the entertainment industry in this day in age.

This is just dumb. Hair grows at about half an inch per month, and the "before" picture of her looks like her hair is probably about 8 inches or so long. It'll be nearly a year and a half before it gets back to where it was.

Will she look "bad" the whole time? Of course not. But women - especially those in the spotlight - put a huge amount of effort into their hair. It means a lot.

In the big scheme of things compared to the work others do toward cancer research and volunteering it is a gesture. I'm a great looking guy but if I decided to shave my head to show solidarity to a friend who had cancer I'd call it a gesture too.

I think it means a lot more to her friend than it would to any of us.

Iowanian 09-07-2012 09:41 AM

When women are treated for breast cancer, they often lose their hair. Your suggestion is stupid, btw. Why the hate?

Mr. Laz 09-07-2012 10:15 AM

Kelly Pickler also stopped by the hospital and hung out with Shayla during her chemo treatments. She is a really kind and down-to-earth person.

The fact that she is a female celebrity that is on camera a lot makes it selfless.

The thing that you have to remember is that she's an attention whore. That's not a terrible thing. She's turned it into a career like a lot of performers have. So you have several things meshing together here. She has a friend in a bad spot that she wants to offer emotional support to, she possesses an amount of minor celebrity, Cancer research and patient care require a lot of money. So...her friend (and other women with Cancer) feels better, she gets positive attention/publicity, some "Cancer awareness" is raised to possibly bring in donations.
