Aaron Wilson ‏@RavensInsider

Linebacker Cameron Sheffield is being cut by the Chiefs as they activate Tamba Hali following his suspension, per a league source.

Are you kidding me?

ToxSocks 09-11-2012 12:31 PM

Mr. Laz 09-11-2012 12:32 PM

wow

plenty of worthless players should of gone first imo

BossChief 09-11-2012 12:32 PM

Guys that should have gotten the axe:

Jake Oconnel
Eachus
Reeves

Those are just off the top if my head...

Rain Man 09-11-2012 12:32 PM

That's kind of surprising. Kind of.

Tons of them....

WTF is this shit?

Eachus & O'Connel are the first that come to mind....

ShowtimeSBMVP 09-11-2012 12:33 PM

Just another bad move by Pioli.

Direckshun 09-11-2012 12:33 PM

Understandable.

Name me all the plays Cameron Sheffield has made as a Chief.

Go.

ToxSocks 09-11-2012 12:34 PM

WTF is his infatuation with O'Connel?

That dude never shoulda made it out of TC his rookie season.

Scorp 09-11-2012 12:34 PM

I was hoping Matt Cassel was the one that was gonna get cut. Oh well

The Franchise 09-11-2012 12:36 PM

Yet Nate ****ing Eachus is still on this team.

**** you Pioli.

DaneMcCloud 09-11-2012 12:36 PM

He might be Practice Squad eligible.

Red Beans 09-11-2012 12:36 PM

I'm pretty sure Edgar Jones or whatever his name is, from the Ravens, effectively took his spot on the roster.

While that may be true, i'd still rather have the extra LB than a 5th RB or a shitty 4th TE.

Debating whether a different turd should have been released is pointless. A turd is a turd.

-King- 09-11-2012 12:40 PM

He had his audition on Sunday. He failed miserably. Don't give a ****.

Mr. Laz 09-11-2012 12:40 PM

apparently Sheffield wasn't able to do anything they asked him to do in the absence of Hali.

BossChief 09-11-2012 12:41 PM

I'd really like to see why Jake Oconnel is so valued by these guys.

He must destroy people on special teams or something that I'm completely missing.

Eachus is a completely one dimensional player that has only shown the ability to run through wide open holes.

Jaque Reeves coundnt cover christopher reeves.

philfree 09-11-2012 12:42 PM

I think this report is wrong. I hope it's wrong.

Here's an excerpt from yesterdays presser addressing the situation.

Quote:

With that, I guess the other thing that will be major is Tamba’s return. We have a day – they give us a day – to make this move with Tamba, so we’re not making the move today. We’ll make the move probably tomorrow, and we’ll bring Tamba back. That will give us an opportunity to look at the team and decide who we’re going to make the move with because when we bring Tamba back, we have to get rid of somebody. We’re going to do that tomorrow.”

BOB GRETZ (BOBGRETZ.COM): Was Tamba here today?

CRENNEL: “Yes.”

GRETZ: So you’re just talking about the active roster?

CRENNEL: “Yes.”

In terms of talent vs. depth......Eachus should have been the first to go. We have more depth at RB than we do OLB.

Bullshit.

We have 5 running backs and 4 tight ends on the 53 man roster.

Think about that.

The Bad Guy 09-11-2012 12:44 PM

It's not about how many plays he's made as a Chief, it's about the fact we can't develop pass rushers for shit when we supposedly have one of the best defensive minds in the league on our sideline.

We carry 5 RBs, 4 TEs, yet we cut from the shallowest position on the team.

Makes no ****ing sense.

Oconnell

4 tight ends.

I seriously can't imagine a world where JO is worth more than Maneri.

Even on special teams.

How in the **** is that worth POS O'connell still on the team?

he's not durable

we have other options at the position

WTF ... he must suck a mean dick to be kept around for YEARSSSSSSSSSS when he is so worthless.

Frosty 09-11-2012 12:49 PM

It's mind-bottling (CP spelling) that the Chiefs haven't been able to come up with someone better than Andy ****ing Studebaker for a quality backup at OLB in the last four years.

Munson 09-11-2012 12:50 PM

Meh. He hasn't done a damn thing for this team, other than keep the bench warm. But I wouldn've cut O'Connell before cutting Sheffield.

Black Bob 09-11-2012 12:51 PM

Good - Sheffield did nothing in his time here. He was given the keys last week and that's enough. Eachus should go to. He couldn't block a cock.

Cameron Sheffield Profile

The Kansas City Chiefs are cutting linebacker Cameron Sheffield to create a roster spot for linebacker Tamba Hali as he comes off a one-game suspension for violating the NFL drug policy, according to a league source.

Sheffield is a former fifth-round draft pick from Troy.

Sheffield, a 6-foot-2, 257-pounder, played in every game last season and recorded nine tackles. He started once.

Sheffield missed his entire rookie season with a neck injury.

Sheffield, 24, played both outside linebacker and defensive end in college.

You just can't have too many WRs, TEs and RBs when you have a gunslinger like Cassel. He must have his targets.

philfree 09-11-2012 01:00 PM

They must be high on Edgar(Winter) Jones.

Priest31kc 09-11-2012 01:01 PM

Pioli is a ****ing moron.

Yes, let's cut one of the only players on the roster with pass rushing ability instead of one of the 4 TEs or 5 RBs on the roster.

What the **** is Pioli's obsession with Jake O'Connell?????????????

Watch Sheffield blow up with the Ravens or Steelers or someone...

This franchise is STUPID.

Not at all. I've said this in another thread, but Eachus is a power back, whereas Woodhead is one of the fastest backs in all of the NFL. Eachus is seriously like .20 slower than Woodhead on 40 times. Completely different backs.

I think the reason people don't approve of this is because Sheffield might have potential to become quality depth maybe, while others on the team just plain suck and have 0 potential to be anything. Not a big deal to me though.

In what universe is Cameron Sheffield a pass-rusher?

We see a pass-rusher build. We want him to be a pass-rusher.

Unfortunately he doesn't actually get any pressure on the QB. He was healthy last year and was still completely ineffective.

Sheffield is a modern day Scanlon. We wanted him to be great, we wanted him to be a find and a badass story - so we just gave him a label that made it seem like he would be.

Unfortunately he didn't earn it and isn't going to. Cameron Sheffield is just another talented athlete that doesn't have the skills to play at his level. Are there worse players on the roster? Yup, almost certainly, but in the end I truly could not give less of a shit. Sheffield doesn't matter.
