Shannon Sharpe on NFL Today Game Cap

I hate this guy...always have...but man...he acted like the whole panel was a part of a conspiracy to pretend that Cassel has any business playing NFL quarterback. Nobody responded. It was kinda' funny. He was like "I can't do this anymore...he's just a terrible quarterback". He threw his hands in the air. LMAO

Usually these guys seem obligated to be somewhat tempered in how they cover and analyze the players...but Sharpe seemed to be uninterested in filtering his thoughts.

New World Order 09-30-2012 02:41 PM

KcMizzou 09-30-2012 02:45 PM

You cant beat anybody with 6 turnovers. And yeah, a few of those weren't on him.... but we've seen enough. He's got to go.

KcMizzou 09-30-2012 02:46 PM

I really hoped Quinn would start the 2nd half.

Seriously...the fact that Cassel's sucktitude has the power to push me into the arms of Shannon Sharpe makes me want to puke.

Oh Snap 09-30-2012 02:47 PM

I actually grew to respect Shannon Sharpe after hearing his induction speech into the hall of fame. He seems like a legit good human being. He was also a helluva player, and you have to respect that. And he is dead on about Matt Cassel. He can't play, and why our coach and GM continue to have him start is beyond me. Put Quinn in and see what he can do. He certainly couldn't do much worse than our current QB. Cassel has been given 3 years to show us what he can do...more than enough time to evaluate him. Its time for a change.

Chiefaholic 09-30-2012 02:48 PM

Sharp is just about as big of a clueless and illiterate jackass as they come. How he got a job as an NFL analyst is beyond me. HOWEVER, he's spot on with Casshole and Matt has to be shown the bench by RC if he expects his tenure to continue beyond this season.

Micjones 09-30-2012 02:48 PM

I heard about this on Facebook. I need to see the video.

I think Cassel will be benched, but it wont be this early on in the season. It will probably be mid to late season. There is no way this team will make the playoffs with Cassel. Eventually, it will be harder and harder for the FO and Coach to ignore Cassels limited ability. Pioli won't allow his $60 million project QB to sit on the sidelines any time soon.

It was a thing of beauty. He didn't sugar coat it either. He basically summed up what planeteers having been saying since Cassel came to KC. He sucks.

Already we are sitting on a dead camel imploring him to get up and fly us to the moon. The situation can't get any more obvious than it already is. "Eventually" happened a long time ago.

yep i think most KC Chief fans would rather roll with the Unknown over what we know from watching Cassel over the last three and half years.

Jobomb 09-30-2012 08:26 PM

Quinn has Tebow's arm without the mobility. Having Quinn as the backup had to be an intentional Pioli move to protect his $60M investment.

There is no way that Quinn is worse. During the time he was in he at least tried on a somewhat consistant basis to get the ball down the field. Matt Cassel is the worst QB in the league, period.

Because Cassel will undoubtedly regress toward his mean of doing just enough to not lose us a few games and put us out of reach.

The worst thing that could happen with Quinn is KC doesn't move the ball in garbage time late in the 4th quarter when the opposition is sitting on a 20+ point lead. That's it.

This is what I want them to do. Stick with Cassel. Not because I think anything of him. Well anything positive. I don't think Cassel can help but be a mistake looking for a place to happen. We need all this to play all the way out this season. No injuries. No Excuses.
Romeo hopefully knows that it is not just his ass on the line if this doesn't work out this season. Meaning he has talked to Clark and Pioli that if he is stuck with Cassel it will not be his head that rolls because of Cassel.
I don't want Quinn in there to show that there might be a way other than QB to go in the draft. I don't think Quinn would do any better than Cassel but I don't know if he might be able to have a good game and get us a win here or there. I don't think Cassel is capable.
We will probably win a game or 2 because of our running game and or Defense making a play. One of those probably has already happened in the Saints game.

Quinn hasn't had a meaningful down since 2009. Not a single play. His career rating is 66.8. He has only 1 more TD than INT. Quinn is not the answer. He was let go by Cleveland (nuff said).

Art Vader 10-01-2012 06:02 AM

changed the subject QUICK! I'm guessing they are not supposed to focus on how bad a team or player is to protect the product but some undeniable facts are getting too hard to ignore.
Dan Marino's smug laugh spoke multitudes (unless he was just laughing at Shannon's immaturity in breaking script). Either way.. kudos to Sharpe for the call-out. We need more of this.

Heard that, too. Bob Dole wishes he could say it left him at a loss for words.

How a coach can stand on the sideline and watch that pathetic performance, and then try to point to the Saints game (an aberration) as an example of Shatt Cassel's skills and leadership, as a reason to stick with him as the starter, is reason enough to show him the ****ing door.

Bob Dole wanted to believe that RC had learned something about being a head coach over the years, but his decision to assume both HC and DC responsibilities, his Hermlike clock management, and his comments yesterday on Cassel, leave Bob Dole with no hope.

This team is a circus without a competent ringmaster.

dallaschiefsfan 10-01-2012 07:25 AM

The more I think about it...you can't really blame Matt Cassel for making the same mistakes over and over. That's the Chiefs organizational culture, now. Pioli keeps making the same mistakes...Romeo keeps making the same mistakes. Nobody grows...nobody learns from their mistakes and nobody changes. It's the "norm" from the top, down. Cassel fits with the leadership of this organization.

I've wondered about that for years. We we **** up they always say "we need to correct the mistakes" but there is only 4 or 5 days of practice between games. How can you correct whatever it is in 4 days? If you haven't figured it out in three years those four days aren't going to do shit.

Absolutely RAC learned something about being a head coach.

He learned that the only way to get a HC job when you suck as bad as he does is to get in with an arrogant, power-hungry GM and do every last thing he tells you to do, no matter how stupid.

Any other GM worth his salt knows that Quinn and Stanzi aren't the answer. You don't need to rule them out.

The worst, absolute worst thing, that could happen to this team is Quinn come in and play a little better than Cassel and steal an additional 2-3 wins. Screw that. I don't want anyone saving Pioli's job.
