That mark ranks him first in franchise history for most passing yards during the first four games of the season. He breaks QB Joe Montana’s record of 1,054 yards in the first four games of the 1994 season.

It sounds like the Chiefs know this is a problem. And they know there isn't a good backup solution. I have to wonder if Pioli's motivation for pushing Cassel is that he knows that the slim-to-none chance Cassel turns this season around is the only way he can keep his job.
