AFCW: Week 5 Predictions...

We are past the first quarter of the season...

Chargers 3-1
Broncos 2-2
Raiders 1-3
Chiefs 1-3

Week 5 is here and the Raiders have a week to chew on the debacle that was their week 4 performance. So, here we go...

Which teams do you believe win in week 5?

ptlyon 10-01-2012 11:39 AM

Who cares...

Cannibal 10-01-2012 11:39 AM

Most probably don't give a flying ****.

I know I don't.

Caseyguyrr 10-01-2012 11:41 AM

put me in for not giving a shit anymore

oldandslow 10-01-2012 11:42 AM

Broncs, Ravens, and 'aints to win....

Red Brooklyn 10-01-2012 11:45 AM

A bye counts as win when you're as bad as the Chiefs and Raiders, so...

Raiders :D
Ravens
Pats
Chargers

ptlyon 10-01-2012 11:47 AM

Thanks for trying to cheer us up MHM, but just not in the mood to play today... /the beav

Bump 10-01-2012 11:47 AM

we're gonna win, then lose 2, win, lose 2, win, lose 2. Get that #8 pick baby! The Patriot way rules!

Red Brooklyn 10-01-2012 11:48 AM

I goofed the poll (that's what she said?).

Meant to vote Bolts not Saints. For whatever the **** it's worth.

Molitoth 10-01-2012 11:50 AM

Ravens, Pats, Saints

TEX 10-01-2012 11:51 AM

ALL AFC West teams lose this week.

Predarat 10-01-2012 11:51 AM

Ravens, Pats and Saints are due. And cAssHole still will suck.

HemiEd 10-01-2012 12:04 PM

Some of these are pretty funny! The Chiefs might be the biggest Vegas underdog this season.

LMAO at people thinking the Saints will win.

Death2CasselFans 10-01-2012 12:07 PM

Oakland has a Bye in week 5

Baltimore at Kansas City
San Diego at New Orleans

Destroyed by 30? It's going to be a tough game to win, no doubt... but 30? I think it could be a very high scoring affair for both teams.

BoneKrusher 10-01-2012 01:47 PM

NY Giants blueprint for NE: IF Elvis, Miller, Mays can get to Brady early with some hard hits that leave him on his back Denver can stay in the game IMHO.
I 'm curious to see if Del Rio comes after Tommy Boy early.

That's the key - I think the Denver offense can and will have a good bit of success against that NE defense, they're not great and they give up yards and points.

The critical questions for Denver -
1 - can Denver pressure Brady?
2 - can they contain Gronk?

They rolled out an interesting twist yesterday with 7 DBs. Can they do that and win in NE? I don't know - that gives Brady too much time. They need to mix it up, rattle him... but they also need to be steadfast in their coverage of Gronk and Welker.

Denver can't let what happened vs ATL and HOU repeat itself early.

If I were betting $ - gimme NE... it's just tough to beat them, with that offense on their home turf.

Fritz88 10-01-2012 02:08 PM

MHM you are a great poster and even a better person i am sure, but i hate your predict threads. They tell me, "hey, more shit Chiefs football next Sunday".

Sorry bud... I honestly don't think we know what the division looks like to be honest with you. I do have high aspirations for Denver, but I don't expect too many 'easy' games like the Raiders. I was surprised that wasn't more of a battle.

I'm not a believer in SD at all and I think KC is dangerous... true, the QB situation sucks, but I think you guys are headed for some good game - not Baltimore though, they're just sick.

Anyway, my point is - I think the AFCW title will come down to the final weeks and we could be surprised with who wins it.

I haven't changed my expectations with Denver at all really - it's great to see the offense move with a real QB again, but the defense has been sporadic. Hell, in weeks 2 and 3 - the offense was slow out of the gates.

We'll see how things go the next few games.

We have no defense therefore we can't stop Peyton...We couldn't his him all day, They do.

I am not a Donk fan and I know you guys are better than us this year and I swear I have no sour grapes and fully expect to be in the basement of the AFCW this year but the Donks are not that good compared to the good NFL teams, you will shine against the bad ones but the first team that gets to Peyton a few times will show you the same thing.

It's more than Peyton ... it's the defense. ATL and HOU tore 'em up and the offense was late to respond.

I know you have high hopes because you have a small window to get this ship righted.... I just don't see anything in Denver when I look at the elite teams in the NFL. Some are not playing good now but they will be soon.

I dunno... offensively, they have a lot of nice weapons. They may not be as proven as other teams, but the WRs, TEs and McGahee provide great options for Peyton and they will continue to show continuity and positive production.

It's all defense for me at this point... that's the big area of concern, too much bend and try not to break. Denver has never had a defensive identity, nothing that lasted more than 3 years. Look at what they've churned through the last 7 seasons - 7 DC's.

I think they can definitely win the AFCW... but, that's likely it for this season. We'll see. Baltimore and Houston are two really tough AFC powers right now.

Denver signed his replacement a few weeks ago, great pick up by the best front office in the AFC West.

I dunno Ed, i think they're due for one, there is enough offensive talent there to outshoot eggo.

Norv or Rivers could easily do something dumb enough to seal it.

I think NO is due, they are too good to have this record.

tredadda 10-06-2012 06:08 PM

Ravens will maul the Chiefs. They are one of the best teams in the league and we are just awful. It wont be close.

NE beats Denver easily. Denver has the wrong Manning starting for them against NE. Eli owns the Pats, Peyton not so much.

Chargers beat NO. We beat NO in NO which just shows how bad they truly are. SD should have no issues beating them.

Yep, this streak wont continue much longer, Brees & the weapons he has = they have a shot in any game.

On the flip side, you just know eggo is due for their annual swoon.

Gadzooks 10-06-2012 06:33 PM

The rationale that the Saints are "due" is weak. Try to provide more analysis to prove your point.

Got too much talent to keep losing like this and a premium passer... They should have beat GB

During the Detroit Lions 2008 season they were due... oh wait...

I tend to look at matchups when attempting to predict the outcome of a game. I generally have a 70% accuracy rate by doing this, however, I never consider if a team is "due" for a win. That would be absurd…

The law of averages says the Saints lose. Their average winning percentage thus far is 0.00%.

Not much more needed, the odds of Drew Brees & co losing yet another game in a row are very far fetched, plus they're at home, another very strong advantage.

Its not even a "i'll root against eggo no matter what, herp" thing at all, its simply a very strong mathematical possibility... the pressure has reached humongous proportions for a disillusioned but still very talented team at home.

Both teams work it up & down the field, but 37-30 Saints
