The next step in the revolution: Full Page ads in the KC Star and Dallas paper
I propose we pool together for three full page ads in the KC Star Sports Section.
Page 1: A cleaned up, professional, appropriate version of the Matt Cassel Facts. Page 2: A cleaned up, updated, professional, appropriate version of the Scott Pioli Facts. Page 3: An open letter to Clark Hunt, stating our passion, loyalty, and struggles with the past decade of being a Chiefs fan. Beg him to make it right. Make reference to our having not drafted a QB, despite our obvious need to. ***If we pool enough money, run a full page of this in the Dallas Newspaper as well. Would be nice to stick it in Clark's backyard.*** In regards to the "Print is Dead" excuse - this idea is more about the coverage the ad gets than the ad itself. Quote:

We need to form some goddamn picket lines.

You obviously have no idea what full page ads cost.
|
Ten grand a page iirc.

Waste of money. And they are expensive as hell.
Who the hell reads the newspaper anymore? Answer: No one. That's why major papers are going to a 2-3 day a week printing or have been eliminated altogether. |
I don't know the exact cost, but I believe newspaper ads are expensive as ****. Also, a guy did this for the Royals over the Summer and it got a half a day run and not one **** was given. Granted the NFL is monumentally bigger than MLB, but I'd stick to more bang for your buck alternatives.
|
Just buy a huge billboard near Arrowhead that says SCOTT PIOLI IS A LOSER.
We need to embarrass this ****er to the point where he resigns. Make him living in Kansas City his worst ****ing nightmare. |
We need a billboard on I70, so that way fat scott sees it everytime he drives to arrowhead

You dont think that would go viral? Every news organization would put that on their website: "Fans pay for full page ad to denounce QB, GM" Ends up getting millions of more impressions than initially paid for. |
Make a virus video. Thats what the kids do these days.
|
An ad is a good idea, a billboard would be better

Calling out Clark in the Dallas paper would be priceless. That story would explode.

The billboard is far more bang for your buck. I think three facts for Pioli works: 3-15 vs. Teams with winning record 22-32 Overall record 17 Blowout losses in 54 Games BENCH MATT FIRE PIOLI |
and yes, I say add the "BENCH MATT" part, because I don't trust that Quinn stays the starter.

Here's why: An ad is a whole page of text and facts. If picked up by national media (it most certainly would); the ad itself serves as the press release for which the reporters will base their stories on. These stories will be put online, and links will be sent and it will go viral that way. A billboard, if the story is picked up, makes for a cool image, with a short, yet blunt message. The reporters will be left to create their own opinions and I think the message will be lost when communicated to the masses. I think that blunt image was already communicated via the airplane banner. The detailed ad is a different approach, with a different angle. |
No billboard until the end of the season.
As soon as it's clear the asshole won't be fired, up it goes. And I'll throw in a thousand ****ing dollars to get it up. |

ITS ABOUT THE STORY THAT WILL BE PICKED UP. I have a PR degree, and work in advertising. Not saying I know everything, but I definitely see deeper and beyond the "print is dead" angle, guys. |

That's why I am no longer a highly paid, union newspaper pressman... |
5k for a half page when a guy did this for the Royals over the summer.

Waste of money, only the elderly read the print newspaper anymore.
And for crying out loud, this is about Pioli and only Pioli. You want to run an ad about a QB who isn't starting this week? What a waste. There is one talking point in this movement. Pioli. Pioli. Pioli. |
Quote:
THAT WAS A PRINT AD. PRINT IS DEAD. WHY IS THERE A LINK ON THE INTERNET ABOUT IT AND WHY DID IT GET COVERAGE ON TV? |

Boom, we just saved some money. |

The digital billboards around town are actually pretty reasonable.
I'd pitch in. |

A billboard that says at the top in medium sized letters, "Save The Chiefs" and in giant letters below that, "FIRE PIOLI"
Somewhere on the route between the airport and the stadium for Clark |
Maybe Whitlock could get us a discount?

Whelp. Seems I'm in the minority. If anyone does want to do this, count me in.

Why don't we just toss some nukes out the window of the banner plane?
|
Any legalities around a billboard urging the firing of a specific person? Just curious.
|
You mean there isn't a single billboard guy in KC that is a Chiefs fan?
Unthinkable. We need to rally support from people who have the ways and means to help us. We need a billboard guy and a skywriter guy and a midget prostitute and a camera. FAX |

A print ad, given the cost, is a very very very bad idea. |

What happened with the billboard idea?

Odd...I'm pretty sure this post was the first seed planted in this call to action movement:
http://www.chiefsplanet.com/BB/showp...9&postcount=42 I thought we had shot this down once we found out the cost. |
People still read printed news?
I'd think you could find better ways to spend the $. |

I'm ChiefsPlanet isn't in charge of a real marketing campaign.
This is a shoestring operation trying to make a big impact. Traditional media (of just about any type) just isn't viable unless you're wanting to throw away your entire budget for something that will have a very minor impact. |

Sunday newspaper is still a damn good marketing tool. Wednesday is second best because that is the day the grocery ads come out. The rest of the week isn't worth it.

Nothing spreads a word as rapidly as a song that mentions a cause or product. I bet he is aware of saveourchiefs and would love to help out...be is a big Chiefs fan iirc. |

I really want to see if fans can force ownership to change, I'd like to see you guys have an impact. Not because I like the chefs, but because I'm a fan too and I wanna see if this will work. |
