Apple support
Buddy of mine cracked his screen on his iPad. He said the Apple tech wants money to even talk to him. Has anyone gone through this? I'd hate to have him pay for a service call just to have him take it to an apple store or something reeruned.

I work for a school, and last year we handed out 300 new ipads. Naturally some of them got dropped, or used as frisbees. Apple told us that they wouldn't fix cracked screens, or if they did, it was almost as much as a new one.
Instead, we found a side shop that fixes smart phone screens and iPad screens. I would look around for something like that. |
What model iPad? Could you PM me the SN? I could check your options...

Just find a shop somewhere that can help him out. |

They'll replace it for $250-300, depending on the model. If he wants it repaired, he'll need to find a 3rd party store. |
Thanks guys I'll let him know and see what he wants to do.

Been dealing with Apple for the last couple weeks and I have to say, they've been really helpful.
My Mac was purchased in 07, my Ram was a little inferior to install Lion. I dealt with apple on getting it done and they hooked me up. Sold me Lion for 20 bucks, (free shipping) resent me all of my audiobooks for free (which is never done, you have to pay each time if you lose them) and walked me through the whole process to get everything set up for free. They were really awesome, surprisingly. |
