NFL Network RedZone channel

I've had TMC and then Uverse in KC. Down here its Brighhouse (similiar to tMC). I've never had the oppertunity to purchase the NFL Network or the RedZone channel.

I usually go to or watch the Chiefs games with fellow Chief fans. This is the firstt Sunday I've ever watched the RedZone channel. ****ing fantastic. Almost all the best plays live. All the red zone plays from all over the NFL cities.

Reminds me of Thursday and Friday games on TV during the college basketball tourney.

Does anyone else watch this channel pay attention to one game?

Welcome to three seasons ago. Sunday Ticket just isn't worth the $ with the arrival of Red Zone.(retail vs. retail) Glad you found it, BRC. ENJOY!

Yes, I watch it all the time. It's great for fantasy players.

They like to advertise that they only show scoring plays and inside the 20s. Not really the truth. They show plenty of stuff between the 20s and during the last few minutes of Close games nearly every play. Great stuff.

Basically a poor mans Sunday Ticket.

DaFace 10-21-2012 12:04 PM

I flip over to it during commercial breaks, but I don't like to watch it all day long. I like to follow the "story" of a game, and that means not just watching all the highlights. Red Zone channel is like watching 10 action movies at the same time and only tuning in for the explosions. Fun for sure, but not the only way you want to watch.

Canofbier 10-21-2012 12:05 PM

I was watching it for a while last week, and I was impressed. Still won't replace watching "my" team play, but I think it works well for the time slots that they're not playing in.

TribalElder 10-21-2012 12:14 PM

Enjoying red zone channel right now.

Watching RG3 angers me as to our lack of going after a QB.

BigRedChief 10-21-2012 12:18 PM

I just saw that fantastic catch by Morgan in the Saints/Bucs game live. Thats was really cool.

WOW, I was also thinking what if we got an RGIII or Luck at QB? How cool and excited would we all be?

yeah, this is my first time ever watching the games like this. I'll always watch my team. Also a "big" game. I also enjoy the "story" and the back and forth of a game that you cant get watching this channel.

R8RFAN 10-21-2012 12:22 PM

I watch it when there is not a particular game that I am interested in ... Like today... No Cheaps,Sparks or Donks so I watch the RZ

Exactly this. Watching Red Zone makes me ADD when I'm not ADD at all. Sometimes you need those breaks throughout watching a game to let your mind pause for a moment..

Marcellus 10-21-2012 12:28 PM

This is my second year with RZ and it is great. Especially when you get to the end of games and multiple teams are on game deciding drives. There have been some fantastic finishes and its fun to watch them all playing out.

Directv won't allow a user to purchase redzone without buying the NFL package, and not just the cheap package the expensive one......pisses me off. So I use FirstRow to stream redzone while I watch other games.

Yup, it's definitely annoying.

FWIW, DirecTV technically has a completely different Red Zone channel than everyone else, but the concept is the same.

Wow, wasnt aware of that. They know that a lot of people would give up the Sunday Ticket if they could just get Redzone by itself. Smart business sense by them I guess.

I've always known about it. I just wasnt going to switch to satellitte over cable just to get the channels.

With my tech stuff, I use a lot of bandwidth. I'd purchase the Direct TV and then have to buy bandwidth from someone else. I'm getting 40meg for $30 a month. If I try to go on the open market, I'm looking at $60-$80 for the same product. And down here, it rains almost every day for months, taking out the satellite for brief periods.

I'm not paying a dime more for the NFL Network and the RedZone channel this year. Not sure why but, I'm not going to complain.

Not that it matters since you have so many other reasons to not go with satellite, but if rain is causing your dish to crap out, it isn't aligned properly.

I've never had a dish. I had a chance to go with satellite when we moved into our new place. Direct TV already wired all over the house. Asked neighbors and co-workers about satellite down here, they said its a big issue. It jsut doesnt rain down here. We get this sheeting rain and storms all the time. It's usually last only 15-30 minutes but if it happens during your game, that's an eternity.

Definitely a great day for this purpose. Tons of fun endings today.

yep, getting to see all those late deciding plays one after another is pretty cool.

007 10-21-2012 04:10 PM

I just wish I could stream firstrow on my tablet

Deberg_1990 10-21-2012 04:51 PM

There's only two late games today, so pretty much getting to see every play from both.

On UVerse, Redzone is in a package with about 5 or 6 other HD channels and it's just an extra $7 a month. Great deal.

Yep they changed it this year. They bundle the Redzone channel and the Sunday Ticket to go together and charge additional for it calling it Sunday Ticket Max. So they essentially made a huge deal of lowering the price of the Sunday ticket (because it's being devalued with Thursday night games and Sunday night games and they don't have a choice) but then they broke the package apart and are screwing their previous Sunday Ticket customers in a round about way. The Redzone channel had always been part of the Sunday Ticket until this year.

I called and bitched about it and got the Max part throw in for free.

I typically only watch it inbetween plays during the Chiefs games or on their bye week. I may use it more this year though for obvious reasons.

Waste...

$$$

IMO.

Bearcat 10-21-2012 05:39 PM

I think it's awesome, since I'm usually stuck with AFCW games. It's in TWC's $6/month sports tier, which I was already paying for.

At the very least, it's nice to have on in the background when doing other stuff... it also makes watching games on CBS and Fox much more tolerable since RZ is commercial free.

They do jump around a lot in the first ~3 quarters of the early games, so you can't really get a feel for any of them, but as it gets later into the 2nd half they'll stick with the close games, show split screens, and show you all the big plays.... and you get to see a good majority of plays from all the close games as teams put each other away and given all the timeouts and commercials.

Did I mention it's commercial free?

it would be worth it for me if it wasn't so painful to watch. I'm locked in a contract another 6 months. I will cancel it next year and just watch redzone, that's for sure.

Unless we draft a QB #1 then I will be all excited.

I want some invisible glasses like Scott Hanson.

This is my 2nd day of being able to watch the redzone channel. It is starting to wear on me. ADD people must love it.

Yep. That was my sentiment above. It sounds good in concept, but it gets old in practice.

They show a lot of non red zone plays. Maybe if they just showed one game for a little while and really only showed red zone plays?
