Kiper: Chiefs should take Te'o with 1st pick
Sorry if repost; per Rotoworld:
ESPN's Mel Kiper believes the Chiefs should select Notre Dame ILB Mant Te'o with the first overall selection, if they end up with it in April. Kiper explains this decision by saying no top quarterback stands out at the top and the Chiefs do not need pass rushing help from the outside linebacker spot due to Tamba Hali and Justin Houston already being on the roster. We believe one of the quarterbacks will separate themselves during the pre-draft process, and also disagree that an inside linebacker should be selected in the top five. |
Loochy believes that Mel Kiper can suck it
|
Kiper is an idiot.
|
Mel Kiper has nice hair.
|
NOOOOOOOOOOOO!
|
Here’s Mel Kiper talking about former LSU quarterback JaMarcus Russell, who was on his way to becoming one of the biggest busts in NFL history:
“Look out,” Kiper told ESPN viewers during the 2007 draft, “because (his) skill level is certainly John Elway like.” Kiper went on to say Russell had a chance in three seasons to become an “elite” NFL quarterback. |
just what we need, another high draft pick on the defense and no QB.
|
An ILB with that high of a draft pick???? Is he high?
When you draft that high you have to take one of the following... QB, LT, DE (or pass rusher OLB), CB, WR. That's it. |
If Scott Pioli is still the GM i don't want them to take a QB.
|
If he thinks that the Chiefs need to draft an ILB with the first pick he's been huffing his hairspray too much.

What a ****ing idiot. |
the nightmare will never end

And who the **** does this assclown think we should take as a QB if we aren't taking him at 1?
I doubt Tyler Bray will come out. |

Cassel Quinn Stanzi Palko Tanney |
That's like saying the Colts in 1997 shouldn't have drafted Peyton Manning because Ryan Leaf was considered to be just as good.

ILB just isn't enough of a big impact position to warrant that type of draft spot. Trade down? Maybe (and that's assuming we still get that 1st round QB). But can't sit there and do it. |
I'd JIMP.......and then shoot myself in the head.
|
Trading down for Dee Milliner FTW!
|
This is a very deep year for ILBs, too, kind of like how 2010 was a deep draft for safeties. Not saying Eric Berry wasn't the right pick, but it would have been easy to rationalize going a different direction at 5 then picking up a quality safety in the middle rounds.

Why in the **** is this class being called shitty? It looks much better than the 2008 class for crying out loud.
Seriously. Matt Ryan and Joe Flacco weren't exactly lighting it up in college and look at them now. God I hate Kiper. |
Quote:
No we'd be better off just taking the best available QB. You'd either hit and be eligible for a SB down the road, or you'd whiff and come back in 3-4 years and take another QB. |
Quote:
Now explain why the Chiefs would make that move. Drunk on draft day? The entire FO is killed in a horrible plane crash and Clark's heretofore unknown crack addicted half brother is running the draft? Someone accidentally sends up a printout of this article and the Commish reads off the first player name he sees? What's the excuse? |

Ben Roethlisberger went 11th overall in 04. Just because some scouts believe Matt Barkley to be around the #10-15th best player in this league doesn't me that's where we'll stay. |
I think Kiper lives to get negative reactions from his BS.
Ignore him. I mean christ hes still rocking the bevis and butthead hairdo. |

All I care about is the Chiefs choosing the RIGHT GUY with the #1 overall pick. I couldn't care less about the others. |
A high first round pick is all this defense needs to be top notch.
|
I don't like Kiper but, i agree that we won't take a QB with the #1 pick. I could see us taking Te'o if we could move back but a MLB at #1 seems unlikely. However, we need leadership badly and he is hands down the best leader in the draft.
I really don't think a QB will go #1 this year. |
Worst. Idea. Ever.
And I could totally see Pioli doing that. |
Mel Kper is never wrong.
|
he's trolling
saying something stupid just to get attention. Stupid journalism. |

The draft experts really are idiots. They boast about how much work they put in researching players, etc. but in the end they are just as if not more idiotic than a casual fan.

No one will take a MLB #1 overall. Unless, the rookie cap makes that much of an impact??? But, I doubt it will. Anyway, he probably is getting attention saying a MLB will go #1 but, it's not going to be a QB. He's right about that. There are going to be several players ranked above the first QB on draft boards. |

I am sure that would go over well here on CP.

You need a QB to win in a QB driven league...
You cant deny or excuse it.... Chiefs will never win a superbowl without one... Stop playing dick hole games and draft a QB. Its pretty simple... You dont get a QB at the #1 spot, you dont deserver to ever win a championship. |
****ing enough of this.
Bob, let's make a wager. I say a QB is going #1 overall. You say it will be a different player at a different position. What do you want to bet? I'll do anything. Sigs, avatars, beer. Name it. |
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
the only person ****ing stupid enough to draft a LB at #1 over a QB is black reerun...and Kiper, I guess...embarrassing |
Lol, I find it really funny. I'd bet my life that the Chiefs will draft a QB with their first round pick, despite the history.

To me, Tyler Wilson is the best QB and he compares to Jay Cutler. I'm not taking Cutler #1 overall. |
I will agree with Mel Kiper that Manti Te'o is the absolute best bet on landing a perennial pro bowler in this draft.
Doesn't change the fact that you don't take him if you're KC. If you want him so badly, trade your next first and Dwayne Bowe to St. Louis for one of their top 10 picks and draft him AFTER you get Geno Smith. |

**** Mel Kiper. Draft a QB or heads will be decapitated.

Why was that opinion a jackass opinion? Can you really say that yet? Some people are comparing Wilson to Favre. |
Kiper - "i'm an overpaid buffoon"
|
On the NFL draft breakdown on ESPN, Mel stated that Stanzi will have the BEST NFL career of all the quarterbacks in the years draft.
He nailed that one too. |
He's being different so set himself apart, blowing smoke up his own ass.
This what Kiper does, it's how he's managed to get himself paid handsomely all these years for doing nothing all year but talking about the draft. |

He was traded just two years later for a 7th round pick. ILB's are not valuable pieces. If Te'o goes in the Top 3, that team is grossly overpaying, Pro Bowl or not. |

or, you know, not. NEVER take a MLB top two, let alone top five
|
Guys it doesn't matter which of the 3 QB's we choose. If you put them on a team with good coaching and some talent (we defenitely have the talent part) they will succeed. That's all it takes.
Hell look at Mark Sanchez. His team was loaded in his first 2 years and they made him look far better than he really was. Matt Ryan is an above average QB but he's looked elite because he has a coordinator that's doing his job and 2 elite WR's+best TE ever. Joe Flacco has a solid OL, elite RB and good WR's...oh and an elite defense to help him out. Andy Dalton looks better than he is because he has a decent OL, great defense, some guy named AJ Green and a good TE in Gresham. Hell Matt Mother****ing Cassel looked like a competent QB with talent and coaching for 2 seasons. It's all about what coach we bring in. Talent is there guys. |
